Chapter Sixteen

A grandious mansion was in front of us. The cold breeze of December is fastly approaching. Malapit na ang pasko! It's my how many years being single again? I lose count. Hindi ko na kasi iniisip.

"There we are." I heard Amber said and we went outside the car. I let her drove her car at magpapahatid lang ako mamaya sa kaniya.

Zia wasn't able to join us, meron itong family dinner. And she can't say no to her parents.

We are at a certain business bachelor's house. Invited daw si Amber ng isang lalaking di ko maalala. I was too pre occupied okay?

"I'm nervous." Rinig kong bulong ni Amber at hinawakan ang kamay ko. Kumunot ang noo ko. Why would she be nervous?

Pumasok kami sa gate at tumambad saakin ang napakaraming tao. All of them are wearing casual evening dresses that really make them look so stunning!

I bite my lips. I think I'm getting nervous too. Why?

May papalapit saamin na babae.

"Summer!" Igik ni Amber at niyakap ang babaeng maganda. She has bangs and black long hair.

"I'm so glad you came here Amber. Thank you!" Saad nito. Amber shook her head.

"It's my pleasure to be here Sum. Anyway, have you seen Dylan?" Nahihiyang tanong ni Amber. Summer nodded and pointed someone.

"He is there, with his friends. I'm sure kanina ka pa hinahanap niyan." Summer said and smiled at here.

"Before going to him ipakilala mo naman ako sa kasama mo." then she looked at me

"Oh my bad! I was just too nervous. Anyway, Summer this is Avery. Avery this is Summer." Then she looked at me.

"Ave, she's Dylan's cousin. Iyong nag-imbita saakin dito. It's his birthday party." Amber explained then looked at Summer.

"Sum, she's one of my best friends." Aniya, I just smiled at Summer.

"Nice meeting you Avery! Please excuse me. I'm going to see some guests too." She said at naglakad na paalis.

I breathed in.

"Hoy sino si Dylan?" I asks with my brows arched.

"Shh! Mamaya na nga 'yan Ave. Let's go and see him." Aniya at hinila ang braso ko. I compose my self but I still asked who is Dylan. I never imagined na may hidden crush pala itong kaibigan ko. She's a party girl and she flirts! She doesn't want to have relationship yet and here she is so nervous because of a man? Hmm, something is up.

"He is a childhood friend. They are a childhood friend." Amber mumble. I stop my mouth from talking when a couple of strange face came on my view.

"Dy!" Amber called then man wearing a navy blue suit. I suddenly remember Xander. He likes navy blue. Halata naman siguro sa color ng kwarto nito.

"Amber!"

"Please excuse me for a minute." Paalam nito sa mga lalaking nasa table kasama niya.

Dylan walked towards us. Nag-usap muna sila ni Amber at nagkamustahan. I scanned the faces of the person's on the table.

Sumingkit ang mga mata ko ng makita ang isang pamilyar na mukha.

Julian? Is that Julian Ilustre?

"Hey Ave..." Nagulat ako ng hilain ni Amber ang mukha ko. Pinanliitan ko siya ng mata.

"As I was saying, Dylan. She's Avery Mercado. One of my best friends in city." Tumango si Dylan at inilahad ang kamay.

"Dylan Montero, nice meeting you." He said, agad kong inabot ang kamay niya.

"Nice meeting you too." Sagot ko at ngumiti.

"Have you eaten? If not, please feel free to eat Amber. Huwag ka ng mahiya. I'll let you use one of our guests room if you want."

"If you'll get drunk." At nagkibit balikat ito. Amber laughed and slapped his arms.

"I'm not easily drunk Dylan. You know that!"

"Just kidding Amber. Sige na feel free to eat. Maraming food na nakahanda."  Saad ni Dylan. Amber nodded and held my hands.

"Saan kayo uupo?" Tanong nito na sinagot naman ni Amber. I looked back at where Julian is and I'm shocked when he was now looking at me. Agad akong napalunok ng laway. God, naka ngisi pa ito.

"A-amber, come on. Let's eat." Saad ko na agad namang sinunod ni Amber. They bid see you laters and I and Amber hurriedly walk.

"Jesus Ave! Walk slowly okay? Hindi tayo mauubusan ng pagkain." She said that made me calm.

"You are here." Napaigtad ako ng marinig ang pamilyar na boses na iyon. Tumaas ang kilay ko at hinanap si Amber sa paligid. She wanted to dance pero hindi ko gusto kaya nagpaiwan ako sa gilid.

"Excuse me?" I asks, like I don't know him.

"Oh come on Avery! Don't act like that! You know me! I know you!" Aniya at tumawa. Umiling ako. Anong silbi nga ulit ng pagpapanggap Avery?

"Bakit ka ba nandito? Leave me alone." I said at uminom sa basong may lamang alak.

"Well, you look lonely here." Saad niya.

"Bakit ka nga pala nawala sa hacienda? Makailang ulit akong bumalik doon. You're not there. I'm also asking the other maids there, hinahanap karin nila. Even Anastasia and Angelina, they were all looking at you." Napalunok ako. Hindi ba sinabi ni Xander?

"It's just recently when Xander came to hacienda and told them that he send you back here in Manila. I never thought I'll be seeing you here. I'm Dylan's friend."  Tumango lang ako. Okay, I am not really interested about him. Isa pa, I want to forget Xander. I don't want to be near on any person connected to him.

"I'll be dancing." Hindi ko alam pero nag-paalam ako. Akala ko ay hindi na siya mag sasalita dahil nakailang hakbang na ako pero nagbitaw ito ng mga salitang nagpagulat saakin.

"Anastasia told me that Alexander was found crying while his drunk. That goddamn is calling your fucking name Avery. Ano ba talagang nangyari?" He asked.

Napalingon ako sa kaniya. I wanted to asks! I wanted to know what happened. Why did he called my name?

"I'm sure he's still deeply in love with you. I'm sure." Julian said and turn his back. Umawang ang labi ko dahil sa mga binitawan niyang salita.

Now, I am confused. He sends me back here then now malalaman kong umiyak iyak siya?
