'i fucking hate it here'
the high level of displeased surging through her body was masked by the emotionless expression she plastered on her face,
she briefly eyes the three conversing adults before letting out a silent sigh. she didn't mind being ignored but she much rather just stay in her room than have to join this so-called family lunch that's just filled with business-related talks,
all she can do now is just to continue eating while hoping for time to pass by quickly,
today's the day everybody loves, saturday. jaein always enjoys her saturdays since saturday is the only day where she has a break from studying. she woke up to a great morning until she heard a rather splendid yet unpleasant news from the maids.
"did you hear? the oldest is coming home today"
"i heard he's already on his way here"
as always, a few gossips here and there always helps news fly faster. as soon as she heard that unexpected news, she rushed towards the living room - hoping she'll find her mother there
which she did. she spots her mother sitting on one of the leather sofas while making her way down the stairs. she walked towards the older female and stood in front of her,
the older woman looks up from her tablet, meeting her daughter's eyes before diverting it back to the reports she's currently checking,
"what is it?" her voice came out calm as usual,
"why didn't you tell me that he's coming back?"
her mother looks up again from the tablet before replying, "he told me that he wanted to surprise you"
and that my friends lead us back to the present where the whole completed 4 members of the seo family are having lunch together in their humble abode.
jaein's brother is their parents' pride and joy. not only he's smart, he also passed his school days with flying and beautiful grades which sent him to one of the most prestigious universities out there in america.
he already has a bachelor degree in business management, which was totally their parents' wish and is currently working in their company's branch in america as the marketing manager
now, don't get her wrong. she has a lovely relationship with her brother and they're actually quite close with each other. it's just that she has always felt this burden and pressure to be exactly like her brother, to be smart as him, to be successful as him, to be the perfect child like him
because her brother is what her parents' have always wanted as a child and honestly jaein thinks she's not even close to her brother's level.
and the reason she wasn't that happy to have her brother visiting is because she doesn't want to go through the usual sibling comparison talk again, it crushes her self-esteem
