just a little note before you start reading, this fanfic is written in second person because i like it better that way because i like my reader to actually experience the story :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You walked against the cold, molding planks along the deck. You breathed in the smell of a fresh catch of fish. You dried the tears from your cheeks and sat down cross-legged. This is it, you told yourself. Let’s make this a carefree summer, a summer to get away from it all. A summer to forgive and forget. Try not to cry, and try not to miss him. A white seagull ripped through the blinding air above you, letting out a distant cry. You gave the seagull all your regrets, all your secrets, all your worries. And watched it fly away with them at hand.
You thought back to yesterday, when your best friend had shoved you onto the airplane with a one-way ticket to paradise. You tiptoed back against the deck, covered in a bright blue fleece blanket. You walked along the sand, dipping your toes in and out. You looked out into the endless ocean, colors of blue and green floating about screaming sunshine. You watched as the vast sun emerged from below, shielding your vision. You continued to walk back to the place in which you were staying. It was a nice little house, not too far off the beach. It was painted a light periwinkle blue and was two stories high. It was much too big of a house just for one person. You brushed off the speckles of sand from your feet before entering the house. You still hadn’t unpacked, the second you got out of the cab you headed straight for the pier. You walked from room to room, spending time in each to get to know them better, to feel more comfortable. The kitchen was big, and so was the living room. On one side of the living room was a big, glass door facing the beach. Outside of the glass door was a little porch where you could sit, and watch the sunset. It was the perfect view. It was paradise.
Turning on your iPod and secluding your ears from your surroundings with your ear buds, you got to work. You danced around the house, tidying things up, unpacking your many suitcases, and making lemonade. You plopped down onto the couch about an hour later. You sighed, you had never seen yourself like this before, so happy, so free. “Let’s make the most of the night like we’re gonna die young!” you screamed at the top of your lungs. If you had to be most like one artist you would probably pick Ke$ha. You liked her style. How she doesn’t care about what other people think, how she’s original, and has her own personality. You felt a sudden buzzing coming violently from your back pocket. You threw the ear buds out of your ears and picked up your phone. You saw the face of your best friend Ellie pop up. You laughed at the picture you had of her. It was from back a few years ago, and she was smiling huge, like the idiot that she was.
“El!” you screamed.
“Y/N!” Ellie screamed back on the other end, “How are you? Have you made it okay?”
“Well obviously,” you said resting your feet on the coffee table in front of you, “It’s really nice here Ellie. It really is. I can’t thank you enough. It’s relaxing, it’s quiet, it’s homey. I just love it.”
“I knew this was the best thing for you,” Ellie replied.
“It really is. I couldn’t stay there in Rosemount anymore, I just couldn’t. I wouldn’t be able to handle all that shit. It just hurt too much,” you said trying to hold back tears.
“I know, I know,” Ellie soothed.
“Well anyways,” you said straightening yourself out while sniffling, “I miss you.”
“I miss you too Y/N,” Ellie said understanding the tension of the previous topic. “Okay so I spoke with the owner and he said that you can stay the whole summer, but you’ll have to be out by September 1,” she explained quickly, “There are two other houses on the beach that he also owns. Nobody’s gonna be staying in them so don’t worry. The supermarket is super close, just a 3 minute drive or a 10 minute walk.” You nodded.
“I got it Ellie. Thanks for doing this. You’re the best,” you said.
“What are best friends for?” Ellie asked giggling.
“Bye El!”
“Bye Y/N!” you dropped my phone to the couch and leaned back against it.
Your eyes shot out your glass door, eyeing the perfect ocean. Without a second thought, you jumped up from the couch and ran to your room. Everything was all clean since you just unpacked all your things. You slid open each drawer of your dresser one by one looking for what you needed. “Aha!” you said snatching up your dark blue bikini. It was a wee bit small for you, but who cares. Nobody would see you. You quickly stripped of your uncomfortable airplane clothes, and pulled on your bikini looking in the mirror for satisfaction. You loved this bikini, it fit your body shape perfectly, making you pretty hot in your opinion. You picked up a striped beach towel from the closet down the hall and you were set. You slipped on your yellow flip-flops, and trudged onto your front deck. The smell of salt water hit you instantly, filling you fully with contentment. Walking down your steps, you watched the perfect waves crashing against the shore. You couldn’t wait to feel the white foaming between your toes, the breeze swifting your hair, the sunshine tanning your skin. You dropped your stuff onto the sand, along with your flip-flops. You pulled your hair into a messy bun, securing it with a blue elastic. But when you looked back up, you saw blonde. Something that you could’ve sworn wasn’t there just a moment ago. There was a boy. And it was as if it was by magic.
