"why do you stay in a prison when the door is so wide open."

just a few days. and taehyung understood how the world works.

the person he had grown to trust all along, just destroyed whatever respect he had. it scared him now. as to how the mere human had so many layers, so destructive, these humans.

jeon joonwoo was arrested shortly afterwards, his father excused off the fake evidence and the interior blackmails he had received. everything was done by jeongguk. apparantly he knew joonwoo was behind all this. but he really didn't know about his mother being murdered by his own dad.

the atmosphere was tense for a couple of weeks, till things went back to normal. jeongguk had refused to talk to anyone except taehyung and jimin for those few days. the shock was too much.

taehyung still thinks about those nights when jeongguk refused to eat, wallowing in self loathing, crying endlessly. it scared taehyung to see the younger in such a state and sometimes he too shed the tears of his own fears, his own dark past and a sad jeongguk would listen patiently to all that he said.

its somehow funny. at least to the trueblood it was. how the duo couldn't stand being in the same room as each other a few years ago but now, here they are, sharing their personal burdens, their happiness. it's shocking too, how fast taehyung had fallen. fallen so hard for the most radiating human being he had ever set his eyes upon.

"do i look good?" jeongguk mumbled, as he gingerly stepped out of the bathroom.

taehyung looked up from the new game on his phone, eyes shamelessly checking the younger out. and god, he almost stopped breathing.

jeongguk was dressed in all white, the spotless blazer settled perfectly on his broad shoulders, accentuating his small waist, a red rose poking from inside of his pocket. thin black eyeliner, pretty pink lips and taehyung was falling yet again.

jeongguk looked angelic.

"y-yeah." taehyung rasped, clearing his throat as he stood up from his place, facing the younger.

jeongguk smiled, as he wrapped his arms around the older's neck, pulling him closer.

"you look good too." jeongguk muttered, pecking the older on his cheek, setting the older's face aflame.

"when do i not, hmm?" taehyung smirked, as he held his mate in place, large hands on jeongguk's waist.

jeongguk scoffed, rolling his eyes, pushing the older off him.

"we are late anyways." the younger said, slipping on his shoes, looking back at taehyung who was giving his hair a final touch.

"hyung's gonna whoop our ass." taehyung mumbled, interlacing his fingers. jeongguk laughed as they stepped out of the apartment, the winter sun glaring on their features.

after months, yoongi and hoseok were finally getting married. quite a small celebration, really, with only a few known people invited, in the outskirts of korea. a 45 minute drive from taehyung's apartment, which is now currently shared by the both of them.

namjoon and seokjin had already reached by the time they had reached.

yoongi and hoseok were lounging, talking with their family relatives and friends.

taehyung sighed as he leaned against the drink's table. the multiple smiling faces, the faint clinking of the champagne glasses, yoongi's wide gummy smile. and he finally felt at ease. the slight chilly wind seemed soothing with the pretty white decorations everywhere, the aroma of food wafting in the air.

it all felt so surreal, to see all of this closest people, sitting together and enjoying with no worries, even jeongguk was grinning to the lame jokes cracked by seokjin, making hoseok snort up his wine and a concerned yoongi patting his back.

among the small throng of people, taehyung noticed a familiar figure staring at him. and yet again the flashbacks started playing in his mind.

how his father had fervently apologised for being the worst father he could ever have, for ruining his childhood and taehyung was not ready to see the day when his father would cry and taehyung would try to choke back a sob because he never once tried to understand what taewon was going through.

now standing underneath the vast blue sky, the trueblood felt at home. and realised that his friends were so much more than just mere "friends", they were his family. just then jeongguk glanced up, locking eyes with his mate. and taehyung felt this beautiful warmth spread inside him as he mouthed those three words he had always wanted to.

i love you.
