"The doors are locked from the inside, and no one will be coming back in this room for the rest of the night." Zane told me, "At least thats what should happen."
"Alright." My eyes wouldn't leave the stars in the night sky.
Zane sat down on the edge of his hospital bed and buried his face in his hands, "The bills from this place are gonna be outrageous."
I bit my lip in nervousness. I still hadn't told him about the situation with his dad and the lipstick I had spotted in the car.
This wasn't quite the right time to tell him ... I mean, I'm sure he was stressed out enough as it was. But the more I thought about it, the more anxious I got.
I sat down next to him and looked down at my hands, "Don't worry about that, I'll figure something out."
"Oh no. No, no, no, this is my problem to solve." He said.
"Well it can't be that bad, Zane. I'm sure your insurance will cover most of it." I reasoned.
"Possibly." He rubbed his eyes, "I just don't know."
We sat there for a few moments in complete silence. The only sound I could hear was something beeping on the other side of the hospital room.
"Oh God, what is my dad gonna think?" He sighed.
His dad. Ugh, there came that nervousness feeling again. I just had to tell him. I couldn't handle it anymore.
"Zane ... about your dad-" I stuttered.
"He's seeing someone isn't he?" He looked at me.
I gulped. How did he know?
"Yeah ..." I muttered, "I'm sorry for not telling you sooner."
"I knew it. How long did you know?" He asked.
"Uh-" I started, "About a week now. How did you figure that one out?"
"Well, a lot of stuff just didn't add up to me. And then I asked Josh about it because he was actually really weird ... and yeah. He basically told me about the whole thing." Zane explained.
My lips parted, "Interesting ..."
I trailed off into my own thoughts. The rain seemed to hit the window even harder than before, causing a loud noise to fill the room.
"Yeah, I haven't told my dad that I know yet," Zane told me, "I'm not quite sure what to do."
He wasn't mad at me? I actually thought he would be upset. I guess that was just another reason to love him even more.
"Are you okay?" Zane asked confused.
It was then when I realized I had completely lost focus. Instead of responding, I lunged forward and hugged him.
"Why are you so perfect, Zane?" I asked him.
He gave me a tight squeeze, "I'm not, Rae."
"Well, you're pretty close to it." I said.
"I try my best to be like you, babe."
Oh my god, this man.
Before I could say anything else, he leaned in and kissed me. My hands wrapped around his neck. There was no way I would be leaving him. Not ever.
