Not Pretty

"Trust me, Connor. If you stop now, your future self is going to be thankful." I told Connor, trying to wiggle my way out of his arms.

"Yeah but ..." He said, "My present self will be very satisfied if I don't."

I rolled my eyes, "Look. It doesn't really matter. Sure, kill me. Do whatever you want, but believe me, you will be caught."

He looked at me with that stupid smirk. Before he could say anything, he was pushed to the ground. Within a flash of a second, Connor was on the ground and someone grabbed my hand.

I whirled around and saw Zane. He looked like a mix of worry, anxiety, and frustration.

"ZANE WHAT ARE YOU-" I shrieked.

I was interrupted by him yanking my hand and running towards the exit of the huge parking lot. Before we could get too far, my shoulders were jerked backwards.

A shriek left my body as I was pulled away from Zane. Our hands slipped from each other, and that was when I knew that this wasn't going to be a clean getaway.

Connor then grabbed my left wrist and tugged me towards him.

"You guys are making this WAY harder than it needs to be." Connor hissed.

"WHY DON'T YOU JUST GET OUT OF OUR LIVES?" Zane yelled.

"BECAUSE YOU GOT AWAY." He shouted.

I wrinkled my eyebrows. I pulled away with him with all of my strength, which wasn't a lot. Thankfully, Zane was also trying to drag me in his direction.

At that point, it was two against one.

"WOAH, WOAH, WOAH." I heard Nick shriek from all the way across the parking lot.

   "NICK-" Jessica cried out.

I told myself that I needed to stop thinking about and paying attention to Nick and Jessica. All that mattered was Zane and I getting away from Connor.

Slowly, ever so slowly, Connors fingernails started digging into my wrist. A loud scream left my lips as I gave one last jerk away from him.

Finally, he let go. His release sent me flying down to the ground. Zane helped me up just in time for Nick to run over and punch Connor right in the face.

   It wasn't pretty.

Jessica sprinted over to us, and practically ran off with me. As we both ran away, we passed Kyle. He was running towards Zane, Nick, and Connor who were all fighting each other.

   Verbally and physically.

Soon enough, Jess and I ran out of breath, and we turned around. We stood there and stared at all four of the guys battle it out.

I ignored the bleeding cuts in my arm and hand, and started worrying about Nick and Zane. Mostly Zane.

"Jess," I started, struggling for breath, "What if something bad happens?"

   "To who?" She asked.

"Any of us." I responded, getting more worried by the second.

From where we were, it looked like Zane and Nick were clearly wining. But that's when I thought ... where was Ashley and Victoria?

All of the sudden, I saw Zane fall down to the ground. I gasped, and so did Jessica. Nick started slowly backing away like a coward, and that's when I knew something bad had happened.
