I sat down. The breeze blew through the shack-like structure. My hair was caught in the wind, blowing free. I knew I couldn't control it, let alone keep it looking semi- normal. I just needed to stop trying.
Stop trying.
I put my phone screen-down so that I wouldn't get distracted from all of the natural beauty around me. The reclaimed wood had a gorgeous color to it.
The mountain scenery all around me kept grabbing my attention. I closed my eyes, and let the cold wind dance across my face.
I could hear leaves around me crunching and scurrying across the ground. I hadn't been surrounded in so much beauty at once for a while. This break was much needed.
The time alone was going to be cut short at any moment, I knew that. It wasn't a question of wether I would be caught, it was just a matter of time.
Moments like those were the ones that I knew I would remember for the longest. There was only one other person in the world that I would want to spend that moment with.
That boy. That boy was always on my mind. It didn't matter where I was, or what I was doing. My brain was like free real-estate for him. Zane had always managed to find a way to slip into my mind, and not leave it.
But hey, I wasn't complaining.
I really didn't mind. I told myself that I would never get sick of even just the image of him. I knew it was true. There was no way of convincing myself otherwise.
Sometimes I wondered if he felt the same way.

- Zane's Point Of View -
"Zane, dude." Josh looked up from his phone, "You gotta go to that party Vic's having in a couple of days."I sighed, "I think I'm going with Rae. I don't know how it's gonna go though."
After Jessica, Nick, and Kyle had all left my house, Josh told me to come to his house. So I did. This wasn't really a regular thing. When I got there, Caden, Jaxson, and Triston, a few guys from school, were there.
I wouldn't really say I was friends with Caden, Jaxson, and Triston. But I was friends with Josh, so I couldn't really get out of it.
"You're going with Rae?" Jaxson looked smug, "You sure that's a good idea?"
I chuckled, "Why wouldn't it be?"
"Doesn't Victoria like ... hate Rae?" Triston was texting someone on his phone.
"I mean ... yeah." I replied, "But I don't think we're that worried about her."
All of the guys sighed.
I was confused, "Am I missing something ...?"
"Dude," Caden responded, almost immediately, "You know you could have any girl, right?"
Josh sat up, and shut off his phone, "What are you trying to say?"
Caden looked at Jaxson and Triston.
"Basically," Triston began, "Girls would basically do anything for you, Zane. But ... you chose Rae."
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What is that supposed to mean?"
Josh stood up, looking a little mad. I stood up too.
Jaxson looked nervous, "Alright, alright. What they are just tryin' to say is that Rae isn't ... the hottest girl we've met. Maybe your ... missing out a little bit."
I scuffed, "Trust me, I'm not missing out on anything."
Jaxson, Triston, and Caden looked a little scared.
"In fact," I stared into their eyes, "I'm getting way more than I deserve. Rae is perfect. No, she's beyond perfect. I would do anything for her, and I know she would do the same for me."
All three of them stared back at me.
"I don't think you guys really have the right to even say you have met her. What you should be saying is that you have judged her because you don't even know her. You guys would be insanely lucky to even get to talk to her." I wasn't going to let those jerks get away with anything.
"He's right. Rae's great, and I've only met her a couple of times." Josh was standing up for me and Rae.
Rae didn't deserve to be talked about like that. No one did.
Triston laughed arrogantly, "This is pathetic."
Josh and I glared at him.
"Get out. All three of you." Josh growled.
They all stood up, and grabbed their phones. All three of them started filing out of the room, one by one.
Before Caden walked out, he turned to me, "Oh and by the way, we meant every word we said."
He left before I could do anything. How could they say something like that about a girl that they didn't even know?
"Are you really friends with those people?" I asked, turning to Josh.
"I thought I was." Josh looked right at me.
I looked down at my hands. I didn't know what to say or even think.
"Look, bro, I'm sorry. I didn't know they were like that." He sounded like he felt sincerely bad, "They shouldn't talk about Rae like that."
"Yeah I know." I said, "It's cool, it's cool."
I say down on the edge of the bed. Josh sat on a bean bag across the room from me.
"How are things going with her?" He asked me.
"Pretty good, actually." I responded, "She's great, really."
"Is she?" He asked me with a smile, "Tell me a little about her."
I chuckled, "God, I don't even know where to start."
He leaned forward, looking focused.
"Well," I began, "She's beautiful, that's for sure. She always is there for me. Like, she will always respond almost instantly to every single text. And she never misses a phone call, or a random FaceTime call at 1am. She's just so ... rare."
Josh chuckled, "I'm glad your happy."
"Thanks," I laughed.
"How long have you guys been together, again?" He wondered.
"Three and a half months, almost four." I answered.
His eyes widened, "Dang, Lennons. That's a long time."
Lennon. He always called me that when he was impressed or surprised. That was my last name, which I wasn't a huge fan of.
"Heh, yeah I know." I chuckled.
"Three and a half months, and you still haven't gotten sick of her?" He joked.
"Nope, I don't have plans to get sick of her." I looked out the window.
"So that leads me to my next question." He looked at me with a smirk.
"What's your question, Josh?" I smiled.
There was a short pause.
"Do you love her?"
Love. It was a feeling that was rare in today's society. It was a feeling that was easy to feel, but hard to explain.
"Yeah, yeah I do."
