TRIAL 2

GRADE SCHOOL

Candace can feel her elbows, arms and scalp hurting but she didn't care at all. She's breathing heavily while strong arms are holding her tiny body to stop her from attacking the kid in front of her, na hawak din para pigilan ito sa pagsugod sa kaniya.

"Mom! She's badmouthing you!" sumbong ng batang lalaki sa harap niya.

"Badmouthing is different from telling the truth. Bonak ka." She said in stern voice kahit gusto na niyang ingudngod ang batang kaaway. Just for the respect to the adults in front, she held herself back. Hindi naman kasi halatang nanggagalaiti siya e. She's stiff and emotionless. Mga salita niya lang ang pang-laban niya.

"Omygod, Bryson. Hindi pa tayo nakakalipat ng buo, may kaaway ka na..." ani ng ginang na hawak siya. She's trying to calm herself.

"Inumpisahan niya e!" Maktol ng bata.

"Ikaw yon." She answered back.

"Ikaw! You're badmouthing my parents!"

"Bryson stop!" a manly voice roared, and the little kid stopped talking.

Hah! Candace wanted to cross her arms and roll her eyes but opt not to. "Ang pangit ng name mo."

"Dad oh—"

The old man stopped the little boy. "Stay there. Nasugatan ka ba, 'nak?" tanong ng lalaki—he seems he's the father of the little kid, and the woman who's holding her is the mother.

Bigla siyang nakaramdam ng inggit.

His name may be ugly but his parents are there for him.

"No, but my scalp hurts..."

"Nakipagsabunutan ka kasi e..." his dad chuckled.

Maya-maya pa ay humarap ang ama ng bata sa kaniya at nginitian niya. "We meet again."

She just looked at him, and blinked her eyes. Hinaplos naman ng babae—the little boy's mom ang buhok niya. "You good?"

"I'll go home." Aniya. Maingat siyang bumitaw sa ginang at tiningala ito. "Baka hinahanap na po ako sa amin."

Ngumiti ang ginang sa kaniya at hinawakan ang maliit niyang kamay. "Come, ihahatid na kita."

"I can go home alone." She lifted her arms, and pointed their opened gate. "There."

Tumango ang ginang. "I see. Dad," tumingin ang ginang sa asawa nito. "Bantayan mo si Bry."

"Alright." The little boy's father smiled at her. "You're the little girl yesterday right? Bakit kayo nag-away ni Bryson?"

Umiling lang siya.

"C'mon, tell me."

She sighed. "It was my fault." Pag-amin niya at yumuko.

"Why?"

"I was irritated. You house is so noisy. I want to draw. I want to concentrate, and finish my drawing but it was too noisy. I went outside and told your son that it was irritating, and adults should know how to respect pero sabi niya ang bad ko raw kaya nag-away kami," She told them them the truth. Better safe than sorry. Wala ang parents niya para ipagtanggol siya.

Napabuntong hininga ang ginang at ginulo ang buhok niya. "So honest, little girl. What's your name?"

She just shook her head. "Uuwi na po ako. Sorry ulit." She bowed her head, and without saying anything, she walked out and ran back to their house.
