Messed Up Job

Honestly, Kurai wasn't THAT late. It was almost seven-thirty a.m. but she'd do anything to skip her grandmother's preaches.

She ran upstairs to snatch her flimsy jean bag that was laying on the floor since yesterday because of her laziness. The small girl came down while skipping on some stairs, still acting as if she was late.

When she was about to burst out of the door, she heard her grandmother clearing her throat.

Kurai turned over to face her, only to see her standing in the kitchen with her arms wide open, waiting with patient eyes.

The young girl smiled unconsciously as she ran towards her guardian, hugging her tightly.

While Kurai was enjoying the hug, her round doe eyes caught the glow of her favorite drink, waiting for her to grab it. It was right on the counter behind her grandma.

As she was hugging her grand child back, she said, "You didn't finish your breakfast, so no chocolate milk (A/N: or your favorite drink's name) for you young lady!" The young one gave out a groan and rolled her eyes at the elder woman as she said goodbye.

When the small girl closed the door and finished tying up her usual All Star laces, her lips stretched into a mischievous yet excited smile as she shoved the flask of her oh so beloved drink in her bag.

After all, she was still that naughty child who used to jump with frogs, stay up late with cats in the alley, climb up trees, roll in muddy puddles, and talk back to everyone.

Just because she has grown up didn't mean she didn't get naughty or act bratty anymore.

She just hoped granny wouldn't notice the flask of chocolate milk being gone. And if she did Kurai hoped she wouldn't mind.

'Well, I am a clown after all. She'll probably kill me when I come back home-'

She plugged in her handsfree and picked a pop song to pump up her mood for work. The reason was obvious: Two extremely talkative and energy-consuming friends who happened to be her colleagues as well.

Yes, that is right. One of them goes by the name of Konato. Konato Matsuzaka.

He was one of the first people she met at work and was able to have a decent conversation without screwing it up.

He has a positive personality but sometimes he gets too... excited? And when he does that, his face gets somehow weird.

Maybe it's just her.

Because so far she knew, nobody had noticed that. Not even Sayoko.

Who is Sayoko? well, shall dare say she was her best friend. Kurai met Sayoko Komori back at the time when she used to study in Japan.

She used to live with her grandfather and her newborn sister. They parted ways back then when Kurai moved back to South Korea.
But when she saw her old friend outside the building, the first day of her work, she couldn't hide the effect that the sudden euphoria had on her face.

She still remembered getting choked on the strength of her bear hug.

The young girl smiled at the memories they had. Her chain of thoughts went broken from the bump she felt while she sat on one of the seats of the bus.

She sighed, 'classic bus bumps. I feel like I'll throw up.'

She checked the time. The numbers were eight and two zeros. she had half an hour left.

The young girl got off the bus and after wasting fifteen minutes, she walked inside the huge white and silver building.

She has quite an interesting job.

Although some people don't like it while others don't even dare to talk about it. She really didn't know why they acted like that, but she loves her job.

As a simple explanation, she works with dead people. She has to tear up their bodies and write down how they died! Well, actually she should take some tests from their organs and body tissues to find out how, when, and why they died.

Such a wonderful, thrilling job.

It's a bit messy, she knew that. Sometimes Kurai couldn't even discern a person's face due to the trauma they've been through.
Set aside the time she had to work with a slaughtered man... it wasn't that bad though.

Yes, she is a forensic pathologist. A forensic doctor or as some might know, a coroner. Although they're a bit different, are also what she's been called by others as well.

As the small girl entered the hospital she's been working at for almost two years, she spotted Sayoko, her best friend.

Like she expected the girl was doing her job as a receptionist.

They studied forensic pathology along with each other although Sayoko was a year higher, obviously because she's a year older than Kurai. But when they started to get to the real business... she couldn't bear it.

She walked over to her huge silver glass and metal desk to inform her presence. After all, she's in charge of everyone's working hours. The younger grabbed the edge of the desk's glass shelf and said,

"Missed me, Sayoko-chan?"

"That feeling when I watch him beat me up and make me bleed

"That feeling when I watch him beat me up and make me bleed...

While I wait for him to calm down

Knowing he'll regret this later...

It's all worth it."

A/N: A little explanation just in case you have survived through this crap ;)

(Using "San" expresses one's care and respect for others. Therefore, it is recommended to use "San" in any type of situation. "Kun" is usually used for boys. On the contrary, "Chan" is for girls. The change from the "s" sound to "ch" is considered cute in Japanese. UwU)
