"ARRRRRRGH!!! Today is just NOT my day!" you groaned.
Keigo was home from the hospital, but the agency felt that he needed more time off to stay at home and recuperate from being sick. So, he has been staying home with you for the past couple of weeks. It was nice to have him around, even though he already tested your patience a couple of times, but you were happy that you were actually able to spend time with him and not worry about what tomorrow would bring.
However, today, you were just feeling frustrated. You weren't feeling this way because of anything Keigo had done, even though he was getting a little antsy to get back in the field; no, you were feeling this way because you had hit a wall.
Your publisher asked for you to get started on a new story, and ordinarily, that would not be a problem, but for some reason, nothing was working.
"Zombies? Nope. Steam-punk? No. Parallel universe? Uh-uh. Fantasy/ Sci-fi. Ugh! Nothing sounds good!" You sat at your desk, utterly defeated. "Maybe if I web surf long enough something will come to me," you mumbled, staring blankly at your computer screen.
Keigo walked in on the scene. He hated seeing you so frustrated, even though you were working so hard, and putting up with his shenanigans since he couldn't go to work. He began to rack his brain on what he could do to help you out. Then he got an idea, and it came from one of your favorite movies.
He sauntered over to you, still focused on your screen. He wrapped you in his arms and shut your laptop.
"Keigo! What are you do..." you were about to protest when Keigo suddenly silenced you with a kiss.
He pulled away and said, "baby bird, I know how hard you have been working, and I know that I've been testing your enormous patience since I can't go back to work. I think you deserve a little break." He pulled you up from your chair.
"But Keigo, I need to come up with a story idea for my..." he roughly pulled you into his chest. You knew, just by looking at his face, impish grin and glowing, amber eyes, that there was no escaping what he had in mind for you.
"It'll be there when you get back baby bird, but for now," he kissed you sweetly, "just relax," he sighed, melting you, giving into what Keigo had in store.
He pulled you into the living room and pulled out his phone.
"Just a sec," he said before the song 'O Children' by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds began to play from the speaker.
"Wait, Keigo, is that the song that Harry and Hermione dance to in Deathly Hallows Pt. 1?" you asked, excited.
"Yep," your winged husband grinned at you. "Thought we could have a little fun recreating that scene." You giggled and laid your head against Keigo's chest as the two of you swayed to the music together. The music was so soft, and you just shifted, slowly on your feet to the sound of the strumming guitar, tapping drum, and the sweet harmony of the voices that sang.
"You were right," you sighed into Keigo's chest. "This is much better than hurting my brain."
"See, I told you," Keigo pulled you closer to him as the music picked up. He swung you out, and you twirled back into his arms. The two of you laughed and enjoyed this moment in each other's presence when an idea came to your mind for a story.
"I've got it!" you shouted, startling Keigo.
"What?! What have you got?" he looked at you shocked.
"An idea!" you scrambled out of his arms and ran to your office. You jumped into your seat and started typing the moment your computer was unlocked. Keigo leaned against the doorframe, smirking at your new-found eagerness.
"This seriously couldn't have waited until the very end of the song?" Keigo scoffed.
"Actually, you gave me the idea for the story Kei," you commented.
"Really? How so?" Keigo walked over, leaning on the back of your chair. You then told him how the lyrics to the song made you think of a dystopian robot society that reigned over the humans, and the humans will lead a revolution against the robots.
"Okay, I have no idea how your mind works, but I'm glad I could help," he leaned down and kissed you on the temple.
"I'll go work on dinner then," he walked away.
"Careful not to burn anything this time!" you yelled.
"Hey, that was a one-time thing. I'm a professional now," Keigo drawled.
"Well, don't interrupt me even if there's a fire. You can save me if you can't put it out," you called.
"Alright, alright! I get the message! I won't burn anything!"
"I love you Kei!"
"Love you to fuzzball!"
"Hey! That's your nickname for when you do something stupid you chicken nugget!" With that, you heard stomping approach you, and Keigo roughly turned you around in your seat.
"What did you call me little bird?" Keigo's eyes glowed in mischief.
"Keigoooo," you said firmly, but that didn't stop your husband from pinning you in your chair and spinning you really fast. "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Alright! I'm sorry! Stooooop!" you yelled, laughing.
"That's better," Keigo smirked. "I will see you at dinner," Keigo stated.
"Fine. I'll come to dinner," you promised. "What were you thinking of making anyway?" you asked.
"Oh, I don't know. I was thinking about making f/f (favorite food), but with how you're behaving, I'm not so sure if I should make it," he smiled smugly.
"Nooooooo!" you wailed. Keigo laughed.
"I'm kidding. I'll make your favorite. Now get back to work my little nerd."
"Well I would be if you weren't teasing me so much," you playfully stuck your tongue out at him.
"Alright, I'll leave you in peace." With that Keigo left you alone until it was time for dinner, and to your surprise, it was really good. However, you were not impressed with how many dishes Keigo used to make the dinner, but you still appreciated what your husband did for you. You knew that no matter how frustrated with work, that Keigo would always have your back and remind you when to take a break and have a good time.
