Zareb quickly jumped out of the vehicle with a gun, rushing to shoot anything off Neda, the gunshots getting the attention of even more beasts. Carisa sat frozen watching as so many of those things continued to run at the area, but the gunshots never ceased.
Carisa sucked in a deep breath when seeing Neda and Zareb coming back. Neda was leaning against Zareb limping with blood all over her. Zareb set her up against the vehicle and turned with his gun in hand looking for anything nearby.
Carisa finally snapped back to reality and walked to Neda. But Neda pointed beside Carisa, "Second drawer, small box, blue color."
She quickly moved to where Neda said and took out the box handing it over. Neda grabbed it and opened it to inject herself quickly and grab some swabs to clean her arm.
Grinding her teeth together Neda's fangs came into the light, "We need to walk to the camp." She continued and stitched up an opening in her arm, hastily shutting the wound without any proper care.
"But aren't those things still coming?" Carisa asked, looking around as Zareb held the gun in a tight grip.
"Of course they are." He said glaring to the distance, "but we have a duty. We have to get you to camp and make sure the area is safe."
"Well, it's not that far, right?" Carisa questioned.
Neda sighed, "It's a bit away considering we had to drive around trying to get the things to lose us." She said and stood up starlight, "But if we start now, we'll be there by the time morning is up."
Morning! Carisa thought it was barely getting dark now but she sounded like it was a good thing. She stepped out of the Vehicle looking at Neda's wound, "But it could reopen."
Neda shook her head slowly, "I've shut it tightly, even if it did reopen, it won't cause too much of a hassle."
Zareb looked at her wound breaking his gaze towards the woods, "But you didn't properly treat it-"
Neda smiled at him, "I'll get it fixed up well at camp. We have priorities now."
Even tho Zareb frowned and shook his head he looked back into the woods. Whatever noise there is will get their attention, so... I have an alarm, one tries thing because I won't be going back to get it. But it should buy us time."
Neda seemed to ponder the thought but her eyes said it was a bad idea, looking at Zareb he quickly understood, "If we do that we could be trampled over. You saw how they all threw themselves at me. If we were human we'd be dead."
They both looked at Carisa and sighed. They began walking with Zareb in front while Neda set Carisa to walk in the middle, "From here on out. We will make the least noise possible." With that said Neda kept a lookout behind them.
With Zareb ready to take anything head-on Carisa was a little less worried. But knowing Neda had been injured made her nervous. Those things had bitten Marnik and that was back when they still looked something like what they were original. She couldn't imagine how much more dangerous they are when becoming something unrecognizable.
Finding herself constantly looking everywhere expecting anything to jump out of the spot... she wondered how things could go so bad. Just months ago she was in a group.... just months ago she still saw normal animals. How could things take such a drastic turn, she wondered.
Feeling Neda's hand in her shoulder she tensed up, looking up to see Neda press a hand to her lips suggesting her to stay quiet. Then pointing in the distance, not that far from them was a group of those things. Smelling the air and turning to look towards them.
In a second Zareb had turned and hoisted Carisa in his arms, and both he and Neda sprinted off. The two of them dashing from one area to the next with so little noise she didn't think possible.
She'd thought Marnik was a menace and quick in action... but compared to these two... he was but a child. They quickly dashed up the trees and anything infected up there was quickly shot down by the two. And just as quickly as they had run they stopped.
A horrible silence... not a single sound of any creature, not a bird, not a squirrel. Not even the buzzing of an insect. All just quiet to the point she didn't even breathe until she noticed the need for air.
Carisa slowly turned her head that was buried in Zareb's shoulder to look at Neda just a door away, hanging by a tree branch. Neda's finger was upon her lips and then looked down, those things were there but their bodies numb with blasts to their body.
Running quickly another small group of them got the are, but didn't even look up as they began to eat the dead ones. Munching on their skin and pulling it off as they all had a feast.
Neda moved from branch to branch quickly and swiftly, taking a look ahead before she signaled it was safe. Carisa was later handed to Neda who softly whispered, "Zareb will take the lead, I need you to keep a lookout behind me."
