She didn't see him after she ran off. Leaving him to sit alone as she walked through the woods. Kind of expecting he'd come after her but he didn't. Walking her merry way through the place, no problems so far.
Thinking about having him around sure, she didn't want to be alone and he was after all a big strong man to keep her company didn't sound too bad. He didn't say a word but the company was still company no matter how quiet. He seemed to hear from long distances, even move fast enough to catch her falling, who wouldn't want someone like him tagging along in the apocalypse.
But reminding herself every time that it was his kind fault that the world fell apart made her blood boil. They brought a plague to the world, tore the cities apart without discrimination. It didn't matter if there were children, women, or men, they died all the same.
Even to this very day the cities were a dangerous place. No one went in and can, out human. The infection was specifically strong in them being how they where mainly introduced, not to mention they were crawling with zombies on each corner.
Hearing the growls of zombies near her she spotted them ahead. Hiding behind a tree until they hopefully walked the other way. She just needed to wait, and that she did until she didn't hear them anymore. Poking her head out to make sure ether hadn't just gone quiet. She didn't want to have to run her so soon but if she had to she would.
When she looked out it was like they disappeared, they weren't anywhere near, sure it was nice not seeing them, but it put her nerves to know they could just disappear. She didn't hear them run, she had barely heard them walking. What was going on? Where had they gone?
Wait! Could it be? No! She looked up the trees and could see him staring down at her. He had been following this long and she didn't even know. Did he have something to do with the zombies just disappearing right now?
Grumbling to herself over how stubborn he was, she continued down walking like she hadn't seen him at all. He, however, jumped from branch to branch after her. Looking down towards the way she went. Until something caught his eye, up ahead in her direction was a trap. A bomb trap to say the least, of the explosion, didn't kill her the zombies coming after it would.
He knew the trap because he was part of the few who designed it, just take a fruit tree and surround it with undetectable bombs, humans flew into them like flies. He stared at her a while longer hoping he wouldn't have to come down and get in her so she wouldn't get blown to bits.
Seeing as she didn't change directions he went down and got in her way. She stared at him weirdly questioning his sudden reaction. When she Looked behind him she saw the tree he was trying to block from her view. So she attempted to walk past him, surprised when his reaction was to push her back. Not hard enough to hurt her but enough to push her a few feet back.
She stubbornly walked around him the long way. When finding her spot she was about to walk in when he grabbed her. Lifting her by her shirt and placing her down against a tree. Shaking his head at her and speaking his unknown language, "Don't go in there." He tried telling her, but she couldn't understand a word.
Crossing her arms she would have gone back if he didn't continuously get in her way. He was about done with her, holding her in place by the shoulder. Grabbing a rock with one of his hands and showing it to her before throwing it into the trap. When it hit the ground in the exact spot her needed to there where consecutive explosions.
"Stupid!" She yelled at him trying to get out of his grasp, that sound would alert zombies in a nearby radius.
The realization of what he did hit him, sure he could walk amongst the zombies but she couldn't. He had to get her on high ground, but she was already on it, climbing a tree faster than she ever had.
His reaction was to grab her even while she was still climbing and take her to the top with him. But holding her only with one arm, she was starting to slip. She was digging her nails into his arm trying to keep hold.
Noticing that he threw her over his shoulder and held her against him tightly as he managed to get to the top. Her eyes terrorized as she had a clear view of all the zombies running in the area. Perplexed at the mass amount that ran in, from where had they all even appeared?
He set her down on a branch nearly at the very top, his eyes looking around for a safe route to get her out. His eyes setting down on her to see the fear dripping out of her very soul. Turning his back on her and signaling her to get on, yet even when it was clear what he meant she was frozen.
Without waiting he picked her up and began leaping from tree to tree. He didn't want the zombies to see her and pile up to get her. Slightly surprised when she wrapped her hands around his neck to hold on. Since she had a good hold on her he went a little faster. Jumping a bit too high and hearing the ripping of fabric. Not until something hit the ground did he take notice of it.
Her backpack had ripped open and most of the things inside fell to the floor. Being the loudest sound in between the growling. All the zombie's eyes snapping at the area before he could have the chance to leave they had looked up and seen her.
They no longer cared about the original explosion that called them all to the area, seeing her they began piling up. One jumping on top the other until the only thing they appeared to be was a pile of flesh.
Moving her from his back to his chest, ripping the backpack of her and throwing it aside, hoping the smell threw them Off. Now he really couldn't waste a second, but everything was piling up around them, the only way he could go was up. Quickly going up as quick as he possibly could, but bruising her up as he did.
They weren't going quick enough, the zombies were catching up nearly at their feet. He wouldn't be able to bring her to safety, she'd be eaten in the next seconds. Quick think, think, think, he repeated mentally to himself.
It's her scent! He looked at her and noticed she had a jacket on, practically ripping it off her and tying it to a branch before throwing it off. Some zombies fell for it but it was so little it didn't even make a dent on the piles they had made.
He pressed her against the tree trying to cover her, thinking some other way to cover her scent. His world freezing when his eyes fell on her crying. She was huddled against the tree crying her eyes out, she knew there was no way out.
Pressing her against him he knew he just needed to hide her scent. Grabbing her arm and liking it. That was it, that would mask her scent long enough to get the zombies at bay. Grabbing her face he did the same, leaving her in a long silence and disgust. It was working they lost her trail. They were too stupid to figure out she was still there.
She looked like she'd been through hell, a few bruises here and there but overall fine. The whole ruckus even kept her from crying, she was too confused to react to anything. He waited for the zombies to be somewhat of a distance away before she even moved her an inch from the place.
