Chapter 19: More like him

After having been running for a while the zombies around where less. Her eyes panicking when seeing lights in the distance, and it didn't look like a fire. And upon seeing it come closer, she could see it was some odd vehicle. She'd say it was a car from the way moved through the ground, but seeing no wheels on it she knew it must be of alien origin.

It was impossible, that any human could even make something like that given their situation. Not to mention that if it was ever of human origin she'd at least seen it once before.

Wanting him to look back at it she spoke up, "Marnik, look over there." She told him, but he was far too concerned about other things too. Slamming her hand onto his chest to get his attention, she moved his face to look behind them and the stopped running.

"This is safe." He told her briefly waiting for the vehicle to come closer.

Hiding behind him she looked around, the thing was coming straight for them. Catching up to them in seconds the thing moved at an incredible speed. As soon as it was in front of them with an open door he rushed her in. Getting her on a seat he went to close the door, her eyes petrified as she looked at another alien just like him.

Standing tall with his arms crossed, what looked to be a mask on his face. Now she understood why people were so afraid because this one looked terrifying. Glaring at her until Marnik got on the way.

"Ezhno, where is Amite?" Marnik asked in his tongue, Carisa unable to understand a word.

The other alien pointed behind him, a door setting the areas apart. Glaring at Ezhno but having no choice but to go see Amite himself he looked at Carisa, smiling reassuringly before leaving her alone.

Seeing him leave she still panicked, she didn't what to be here. She wanted to call Marnik, make him come back. What was he doing? Why did he leave her? MARNIK!

Almost like he could hear her he was back a minute later. Pushing the other alien back, "I've explained to Amite. You can stop glaring at her."

"Get her out of this vehicle!" Ezhno yelled, "I don't care what you explained, she's human. Unless she's a midnight snack for you, I suggest you throw her to the infected." Finishing his discussion he walked away.

Looking at Carisa he could already tell she was uncomfortable, brushing a hand against her cheek, "You're safe." He wanted her to know that so badly. To see he'd protect her no matter the cost.

A different alien walking in, and by the looks of it, a woman. Being even taller than either one she'd seen even tougher looking if they were put side by side. Smiling at Carisa she spoke to Marnik, "I'm sorry about Ezhno, I didn't think you'd be bringing a human. So who's the girl?"

He held a hand out for her, "Carisa." He pointed at Amite then, "This is friend, Amite."

Amite leaned down looking at Carisa holding her hand out. Smiling back Carisa shook her hand before going back behind Marnik. She left afterward the same way she came in. Marnik sat with her and kissed her cheek wanting her to feel at ease.

They could hear Amite speaking in the other area, sounded like complaining. Ezhno came back out, the mast removing itself from his skin, it was a part of him. He even looked handsome without it.

Walking over to them, giving Carisa a smile and speaking to Marnik, "Just because Amite yelled at me I'm being nice."

Amite heard him and screamed from all the way where she was, "That's it! Do you want me to ditch you here or something?!"

Ezhno kept smiling while speaking, "You wouldn't dare leave me here woman." Giving one turn he left them.

Marnik grabbed Carisa and set her on his lap. Playing with her hair he seemed comfortable in the place. He didn't mind the other two and concentrated solely on her. Getting entertained with him playing around with her hair doing who knows what.

But she couldn't help but think about the other aliens, why where they suddenly with them. What did Marnik have planned? Could she really trust him as much as she thought? The questions running through her head, to the point she couldn't even understand herself anymore.
