Amite convinced Carisa to not go say goodbye to Ezhno and had left them with a final goodbye. Marnik had been showing her around and be a little nicer to the alaois that saw her. She was happy to say hi to them and some of the females just looked mesmerized at her tiny size.
Amil appeared around the corner and walked towards them, "I see she's talking more."
"I don't think we'll make it to the party at this rate," Marnik mentioned, keeping an eye on her.
Carisa talked to the other females, making small talk as they stood around her. They all seemed to be gentle afraid to break the human. And while some of them know her language others had a hard time communicating but helped each other in order to speak with her.
"Sure you will, I'm pretty sure these women would drag her there. Speaking of women... have you seen the commander, ever since she gave us an earful I've been careful not to walk into her." As Amil said this he kept an eye out for anyone entering the area.
"Haven't seen her. I'm sure she's just busy with the party, and there's no hiding from her then." Marnik stepped closer to Carisa when seeing she was getting farther away.
Amil scratched the back of his head, "I don't want to go."
"Oh you'll go, I'm not sucking this all up on my own. Besides, Carisa is there, she can't do that much to us." As he spoke one of the doors opened and out came a child.
Captivating Carisa's interest she asked who was the parent. One of the women grabbed the child up in their arms presented it to her. Carisa squealed a little and waved at the child, "Aw, he's so cute."
Marnik watched with amusement how she was handed the kid so she could carry it hearing one of the females, "I've never heard of someone wanting to carry another person's kid. It's so unusual."
"Awww, hi there." Carisa said as she smiled at the kid, and pulled his frizzy hair back, "What's your name?"
"Becan." His mother answered as the child looked at Carisa with eyes as wide as they could be.
Comically two of the child's eyes where on Carisa while the other two looked at his mother. Spooking Carisa she handed him back, "Why... why was he looking that way?"
The woman chuckled, "The children tend to have a hard time learning to concentrate all four eyes."
Carisa leaned her head to the side bewildered by the fact, "That's so weird. But cute at the same time, how old is he?"
"He'll be eight months in a week." The woman opened the door to what could only be her room and sent Becan inside.
Carisa's mouth hung open, "Eight months... but he looks like at least a two years old."
Now it was the women's turn to be confused, one from behind her speaking up, "It might just be the difference in species. Our species tends to grow taller than even the tallest human, take by example the commanders. Their far taller than any normal alaois."
"Oh." Carisa pressed a hand to her chin, "I still have a hard time believing it, but then I look at all of you and see how tiny I am."
They chuckled and continued talking while Marnik looked at Amil, "Human kids are tiny?"
Amil shrugged, "I don't know, I've never seen one."
"Well if you men must know then yes," Fallyn crept upon them, "they're quite small and delicate. Can't walk properly till their one-year-old or more. Take years to learn to speak correctly and happen to have an awkward stage when they're around the ages of twelve to fifteen." She looked at the two spooked over her sudden presence, "These can all vary but it's approximate."
Amil felt a chill go down his spine at hearing her voice, "Commander, didn't expect you to be around here. Wouldn't you be at your party?"
"Oh I came to get Carisa and Marnik, wouldn't want you two skipping out." Fallyn chimed and gave Marnik a little push, "Go get her."
Amil was about to walk off when Fallyn took his hand, "I know you've been evading me since the talk. So Amil, if you have a problem with me then tell me."
"No problem at all commander." Amil declared before hiding behind Marnik and Carisa.
Carisa smiles at Fallyn seeing her there, still caught up in the moment with the other ladies, "Quick question, do you have any kids Fallyn?"
Fallyn shook her head, "Not at the moment, I'm much too busy with work to bother having children."
Carisa nodded a little bummed over the fact but understanding. Not everyone would want kids, that's to be expected. It reminded her of Ezhno when she'd ask him as well. Fallyn guided them to where the party would be hosted, sitting Carisa and Marnik in a special table along with Amil who refused to leave their side.
Soon enough the place started overflowing with Alaois in every corner of the place. The commander Marnik had been fearing Making his way to them and sitting across from Carisa.
"You must be Carisa. The human girl, my name is Vasin I am the commander alongside Fallyn. I'm sure you've already met her." He introduced himself while looking down at her, noticing how Marnik boiled up over his voice.
"It's a pleasure, and yes I've already met Fallyn," Carisa replied kindly.
"What do you plan to do here? I've overheard you fear the animals and are allergic to the plants. So what possible purpose could you have here?" With his question, Carisa seemed quiet for a moment.
Fallyn had been intently listening in and spoke up, "Well the women seem to adore her so far. And the kids don't scream when she grabs them. She could be a perfect caretaker, after all, your kid hates everyone. Why not give her a chance?"
Vasin glared at her for intervening but didn't deny the idea, "Sounds like an idea. What do you say Carisa?"
"I don't mind, I like kids. How old is he?" Carisa mentally thanked Fallyn for intervening and wondered over the child.
