Marnik toned down, the marks slowly disappearing from his face, "I didn't-"
"No." She said looking away from him, "Just go do your work, there's nothing to talk about."
He reached out to her, but Carisa moved away, "It's not what I meant to say. I was angry, I didn't mean it."
Carisa turned her back on him, "We can talk later." She walked to the window and stood there in silence.
When he walked towards her he could see her move closer to the window, "... I'll go, just... I want to move you to a different house, there are too many ways to get in this room as it is... and I don't like it."
She turned and walked to the door, "Let's go then."
Taking out the barricade they walked out, Carisa had her hands crossed over her chest walking behind him. When he picked the house he kept her standing by the door while he checked inside for anything hiding ur lurking around. Being a two-floor house he barricaded the front door along with the door to her room.
"I should be back before nightfall." He informed watching her sit by the window. He sighed moving the barricade slightly, "Put it back in place once I'm gone." And that said he left, looking at the last house they had been in. They had only moved two houses ahead, meaning he could easily catch up to his runaway experiment.
Looking one last time at the window to see if Carisa was looking out, however, she had already gone away. He looked at the street and began to walk, his eyes looking around while he carefully listened to any sound nearby. When finding himself well away from the house he sprinted forward, looking for the sign that would say road 57.
His eyes however landed on a person moving not far, quickly hiding he took a closer look, it wasn't the man he was looking for, but another group of two people. They appeared to be speaking amongst themselves, holding guns in their hands. He gripped the wall he was hiding behind, seeing the man he was looking for calmly walk out from the corner.
He began speaking with this group and pointed in the direction Carisa was. He growled and slowly walked around the area to be right behind them. Hearing their conversation.
"I'm telling you, there's a girl in a house not far away, being kept by one of those demons." The man explained.
"Then we stay away unless we want to get caught as well." One of the men holding a gun said.
"It's a girl, she sounds young. She could have people waiting for her... we need to try something, we can't just become those demons playthings." The man said and walked in the direction he'd pointed, "We're being driven to extinction, I know, it's the apocalypse no one is nice for no reason, but we need to try and do something."
One of the men scoffed, "What do you think we go do, show up get this 'girl' out the house, and get her to the camp. Listen Ethan I get you to want to help the girl, but it's either her or your teammates."
Ethan sighed, "Everyone's infected... and Mika and Charles are tied up in trees. I got out because I always hide a knife in my shoe."
One of the men seemed to murmur under his breath, "Then it's easier to make it in a house then up a tree. But we're going to save whoever you say we save, we owe you one. But this is dangerous, we either save the girl in the house or save your friends up in trees."
Ethan seems to stomp in place, clenching his fist, "She's a few houses away... we need to be careful, I don't know when the demon will be back."
"Demon or no demon it ain't bulletproof." The of the men laughed.
"I wouldn't be so sure, he's got four arms, four eyes, and moves faster than all of us put together," Ethan said and began walking in the direction.
Marnik felt like laughing almost, here they were talking big, he wondered what they'd do when they saw him. Following close behind he noticed them going to the previous house they wherein. He smirked up until he saw a certain someone out of the house. The smile fading into a scowl.
He saw the men noticed her and were quick to walk towards her, but when noticing Carisa wasn't looking at them Ethan looked in her direction to see Marnik. He freaked and grabbed one of the guns the men had and shot towards him. Carisa was quick on her feet to get to Ethan and move the gun from his hands just as Marnik was close.
"Don't shoot-" she started as Marnik grabbed her, setting her behind him while disarming the other men. They fell on the ground looking up at Marnik while Ethan stood terrified seeing as the bullet he shot was barely clinging to Marnik's clothes before falling onto the ground.
"You shot me." Marnik said, pressing his hand against his gun, "Let me return the favor."
Carisa moved and held the gun down against his hip, "No... no one is shooting anyone. And you're fine, don't be so dramatic."
Marnik glared as his marks were starting to glow up, "Move, or be moved."
She stood her ground as the two other men were starting to get up, "Let's talk about it alright."
He was about to give in when seeing the other men get up reaching for a gun. Pushing Carisa out of the way and shooting before the man could get his hands on the gun Marnik growled, "Stay down and don't move!"
Carisa fell on the ground and looked at his eyes, seeing the bloodlust in them, she slowly got up and stood in front of Ethan, "Stop it."
Marnik has his gun pointed at one of the men until Carisa moves to stand in the way, "Just let them go."
He moved the gun and took a deep breath, "I can't." He said, "Go inside Carisa, and cover your ears."
"I'm not going!" She yelled and stepped towards Marnik as the men behind her were quiet, one holding his bloody hand from Marnik's shot.
He bit his lip and before pointing the gun again, "Then let's all walk inside. Let's talk."
