Going to the gynecologist was not a pleasant thing, especially that I was actually tricked to go there. Here's what happened, for a dramatic reason my mother-in-law was suddenly admitted to the hospital, by saying dramatic reason I'm emphasizing on the fact that she suffered from no physical disease nor she had any sort of accidents, she didn't even have a serious psychological trauma.. She was admitted to the hospital simply because she lost her consciousness, and she lost her consciousness because.. Well.. Mainly because she saw Ines walking in front of her with a "short hair".
You see, my sister-in-law -god bless her- is a strong woman despite all the weeping shows she usually displays, When she discovered that Azziz who she loved dearly was in fact only using her as a pawn to threaten Eliyas for only god knows what insane reason that involved me, she erased him from her life and even attacked him in justice for a couple of charges, Then she went on a trip with her friends to relax .. For some heart desire of hers she decided to have a change of looks, When she finally came back home, her looks were different, and her signature long hair was cut to a very short bob.
My mother-in-law who already had poor nerves lately started to yell and overdramatize the whole thing turning it into a matter of ruined dignity and prestige, After arguing for a while she fell unconscious on the ground.. And this is how she ended up taken to the hospital.
I really don't get some people's reactions, speaking of mothers, I never experienced the feeling of having an overdramatic mother, for example I remember when I was in elementary school I started to develop this habit of lifting my head so high while walking, I lifted my chin until my face turned perpendicular on my neck, until the skin of the back of my head wrinkled painfully when meeting my back and until my neck was so extended that my voice started to sound breathy when speaking, when I walked in this awkward position all I could see was the blue sky and white clouds above while feeling a comforting numbness in my neck, I loved walking while being oriented with only the sounds and the tips of high buildings, I have no explanation for this weird fondness other than it made me feel happy at the time, I was walking like that one day when I naturally didn't notice a rock blocking the way in front of me so I fell flat on the dusty ground after tricking on it, my knee was cut.. And blood quickly started to make a large spot on my white long sock, I started to tremble violently frightened with the sight of my blood being the phobic child that I was, I have no idea how i even managed to reach our house while breathing hardly and panicking, when I walked inside the house My mother was the first person that I met, she was sitting in the yard washing clothes by hand, that heartless woman threw one cold gaze at me before standing up from the small chair she was sitting on and coming quickly to pinch my ear and drag me to the water tap that she was using to wash the clothes while scolding me:
_"i have already told you to be more careful when wearing your white socks! Now you torn them and dirtied them! I have to throw them out they can't be cleaned!"
She soon took off my socks and washed my cut under the tap with a displeased frown, after she checked that there were no stones in my wound she ordered:
_"go put some oitment your self! i'm busy washing clothes"
_" i'm scarred of the wound.. I can't touch it" i pleaded tearfully.
_"what is so scary about it! Just go put oitment! Don't give me a headache"
So yes, this was what a mother meant to me, someone who encouraged me in a distorted way to face my fears.. Who diverted my attention from the wound by speaking about my socks while cleaning the blood away, who everytime she saw me crying she threatened:
_"i better not hear you sobbing or sniffing your snot!"
She was not the best mother, but she taught me how to be independent, and that hardships build the person's will.
Now imagine how my poor sister-in-law lived her life with a materialistic prestige-freak mother : she was forbidden from strolling in the streets because they were filthy rich and because her mother would have a mental melt down if she saw her daughter with dirty clothes, she had to always be neat and clean, she always had to speak beautifully and to befriend people she didn't even enjoy their company, take Lydia as an example of that.. Ines was the worst tennis player yet she had to endure Lydia's ball hits for years and cover her bruises just because my mother-in-law loved their prestigious friendship.
I don't even want to imagine how Ines felt when seeing her mother falling unconscious just because she got too angry after seeing a short hair cut. There are limits for drama endurance and Ines's patience sure outstanded them.
I didn't in fact know that my mother-in-law fainted for such a silly reason, otherwise i wouldn't have wasted an important day at work to go pay her a visit at the hospital urgently. The culprit in cause, Namely my husband, hid this deliberately to make me go to the hospital after all and trick me into seeing a gynecologist.
I was working in the office with a colleague of mine on an important report when my phone suddenly started to buzz on the surface of my desk, when i checked who was calling i was immediately alarmed and my heart rate started accelerating out of anxiety seeing the name of the contact flashing on the screen.
"Eliyas"
If you wonder why i had such exaggerated reaction to his call then i would like to make a point very clear for you: Eliyas never calls me unless it's an emergency.
Being the business man that he was, he always valued his time and his words, for him i'm 24/7 surveyed and protected by bodyguards so there was no need to give me a call from time to time to see how i'm doing since if something bad happened he will be the first one to be informed, as for the problems in my work he is well aware of them as well so he doesn't need to call to ask about that. Not to mention that this husband of mine who was blessed with a handsome face, tall build and infinite charisma sure never used them in courting the other sexe since having a girlfriend was a waste of time and effort for him, therefore he had not a first idea how to be romantic with a woman, and naturally wouldn't simply dial my number just to say: "dear wifey, i miss you, i love you!".
So i can not be blamed for being terrified with the sight of his name on the screen, i excused my self and quickly went out of the office running towards the raw of stairs to pick up his call, the moment i pressed the green circle i asked:
_"Eliyas.. What's the matter?"
_"why are you panting?" He asked to my momentary confusion, Still i answered:
_"why else? It's of course because i ran to the stairs to pick up your call!"
_"why didn't you just pick it up in the office?"
_"it's just a habit" i whispered uncertain.
He sighed on the other side, and waited gentlemanly for a bit until my breaths calmed before he finally said:
_"Mother collapsed, she was taken to the hospital an hour ago, we need to go see her urgently"
_"how is she? Is it serious?" I asked concerned.
That scum answered:
_"we'll know once we're there, i already took a leave for you, i'll be waiting for you in the car at the intrance. Ok?"
_"ok .. Ok.. I'll come down quickly!"
You see, i truly believed it was serious! Since this cold husband of mine never cared about his mother's well being, i thought since he decided to go see her urgently then it must have been a matter of life and death! when we were on the way to the hospital i thought i was going to meet my dying mother-in-law, i even reviewed the words i should say in such occasion in my head such as: "i forgive you for everything" .. "I will take care of your son" .. "I will never leave Eliyas's side!"
I even stupidly kept asking Eliyas all way long how was he doing and if we should ask the driver to come and replace him.
When we finally reached the hospital, we found a group of hospital stuff standing at the intrance of that private hospital waiting to receive us as if we were paying some governmental visit to the hospital, they were all courteously speaking with Eliyas and I, guiding ud towards my mother-in-law's suit reassuring us about her health condition all along the way, when we walked inside the brightly lit large room there was another team of doctors surrounding my dramatically bedridden mother-in-law, she was complaining nonstop about having a headache and tendency to faint while the team listened attentively to her neverending speech.
Seeing such hospitality i wondered if this was something ordinary in private hospitals or if it was just a VIP treatment for the filladis, since i never witnessed such thing through my long experience with governmental hospitals, as for my previous hospital admission due to my miscarriage i didn't pay much attention to the happenings around me and Eliyas apparently dismissed all the unnecessary stuff from my room, so if there was a special treatment.. Then i didn't know about it.
Since my mother-in-law was busy narrating the misfortunes of her life to the poor doctors i naturally shifted my attention towards looking for the rest of my in-laws to ask about her real condition, mr buelguassem filladi was not even there in the room, only Innes was standing to the side crossing her hands and watching Eliyas and I, she looked very different from the last time i saw her, her makeup was much heavier and extravagant, instead of her usual bright coloured long dresses or classical serious attires she was wearing tight jeans topped with a stance T-shirt, her hair like i mentioned earlier was very short and dark black.
When i dragged Eliyas to go talk with her she understandably ignored my existence, Eliyas not even caring about her cold attitude indifferently asked her about what happened with his mother, so she vaguely narrated everything that happened, in the end she commented:
_"the doctor said she has nothing, not even high blood pressure, she probably just faked the whole thing to bring you to the hospital."
She eyed me coldly before continuing:
_" i heard Lydia and her mother mrs khoujali were paying her many visits lately and they were caught touring together around D city in numerous occasions, i bet Lydia and her mother will soon be here so i suggest you take your wife and leave before unpleasant topics will be discussed after their arrival."
After hearing Ines's words, i felt so stupid for worrying about that old hag while she was in reality feigning sickness and plotting against me.
You see, i'm not a two faced person who has the ability to smile to his enemies faces and act scheming, i'm simply not. So the moment i heard Ines's words i just knew they were correct without even having to confirm them, i bluntly said:
_"Thank you Ines, i appreciate your honesty"
Although she and I were on a very bad terms, still i wanted to thank her. I then circled Eliyas's arm and i dragged him out of that suit before even speaking with his mother.
When we walked out of the room i noticed that the innitially empty hall was already crowded with more hospital stuff, with curious people and even the bodyguards were everywhere around us trying to make a path for us inside the chaos, apparently the hospital stuff leaked news about Eliyas coming to there hospital, since that husband of mine was not ordinary in both looks and status, and rarely appeared to the public eye, people were naturally curious to see the real life him, even when we went inside some vast balcony the space was soon filled with people trying desperately to take pictures only to be stopped by the bodyguards. I was already feeling bad when i walked out of the suit and the last thing i wanted was unneeded attention, so i finally let go of Eliyas's arm and weakly said while looking at his serious face:
_"Eliyas, can you please clear this place, i want to be alone for a moment."
_"it's immoral to clear a hospital, people here are sick and need to move around" he replied.
_"what should we do then?" I asked impatiently amid the chaos, people around us were already calling his name and asking him all sorts of weird questions.
He looked at me for a bit before replying:
_"i guess there will be more people outside the hospital so it will be challenging to leave this place at the moment, i can clear an office at the hospital, we can rest there until the bodyguards clear the intrance and provide more protection for us."
His suggestion seemed very logical, so i dumbly agreed to it and followed him like a beheaded person towards some empty office in the hospital.
I didn't doubt not even for a single second that scum's motives, not even for a moment i remembered that this man was a ruthless and heartless beast who crushed people to build his success.. Why would he all at sudden start caring about the sickly people in the halls of the hospital? he certainly didn't!
When we finally walked inside the empty office the one-line thinker me soon yelled:
_" have you been visiting your mother lately at her villa? Have you encountered Lydia?"
Of course i only kept thinking about Lydia all along, imagining her wearing her short tennis attire and asking my husband to play with her while i'm naively writing reports in the office.
I felt unexplainably irritated with those thoughts!!
That scum was leaning on the doctor's empty desk while putting his hands inside his pockets, he observed my irrational behavior with a very amused expression, then he answered:
_" No, i haven't seen Lydia ever since that day i asked the butler to take her out of the villa, i have no use of her anymore, why should i meet her?"
_"when you want to go visit your mother in the future you better take me along with you"
_" i haven't visited mother since she moved, I have been filling her account with money, this should satisfy her enough." He replied.
I looked at him silently for a bit, and then i said hesitantly:
_" can you perhaps arrange a husband for Lydia, i don't like her being single for so long"
He laughed until his eyes turned moist, and then he replied:
_"maybe i should introduce her to your childhood friend, Nadir Ghemmari, i don't like him being single for so long either, they suit one another."
Once he mentioned Nadir, somehow all my stirred emotions started to relax, as i smiled i asked sneakily:
_"how come Lawyer Nadir jumped to your head?"
He stood up properly, walked towards me and finally answered while standing in front of me:
_" his words never left my head, i guess he's regretting saying them at the moment, but they still have their impact on me.. He described me as a deceitful husband"
_"did you do something to him Eliyas? You're really incredible, aren't you?" i sighed in displeasure.
_"you don't need to know about it" he replied.. He looked at me pensively for a moment then sneakily asked:
_"tell Noursine, didn't you read the name of the department in which this office is located on our way here?"
_"No, i was busy making a way in the crowd"
He extended his arms to bring me closer to him and hugged my waist with a mischievous smile.
_" i see" he whispered.
After a little time he added:
_"it's the OBGYN department"
_"ok" i said while giving him a suspicious look.
He kissed my forehead.. Then the tip of my nose. He was acting extremely suspicious so i asked:
_" is this a gynecologist's office?"
He nodded..
then finally addmited the purpose of deceiving me all along:
_" a doctor will be here so soon, you will be examined today."
