I thought that Nadir's issue was long settled by Eliyas but i was wrong.. Thankfully i was wrong.
I was too naive to blindly trust him and hand him Nadir's urgent demand to meet with me, doing that.. I almost lost the chance to know the truth that was kept from me for so long.
Hereby, i send my attributions to Nadir: the brave knight and filial son, and to Eliyas: ..that scum.
It was a regular Tuesday when a coworker of mine walked inside the office where i worked and he informed me:
_"Noursine.. There's a call for you in the reception office"
Being someone who never received this sort of calls i logically asked:
_" then should i go take this call in the reception office or will it be transfered here?"
The coworker looked at me rather troubled and then he said:
_"i forgot to ask the secretary to transfer the call, you just go take it there"
As for the reason for us both being this troubled and reluctant in dealing with the reception office, it's because the secretary who works there is the world's number 1 loudmouth, god bless her, her ability of maintaining a long discussion about the most trivial of things and her speed at moving from topic to topic are hardly comparable not to mention that they can never be surpassed.
If you say a mere "good morning" to her you'll subsequently receive a detailed report about all the happenings of the company for the last month without even asking for it.
Allah knows that i genuinely like that woman, but it's really so hard for me to deal with her.
I thanked the coworker for informing me, i sighed.. And then i halfhearted headed towards the reception office.
This certain receptionist, whose name is Salwa, looked beaming with happiness even from a far distance, Her excitement was getting bigger with every step that i made, In the end i hadn't yet reached the office when Salwa joyfully pointed at the phone in her hand and yelled:
_" A man is Calling you Noursine! He seems young! He said his name is Nadir Ghemmari and that he's a lawyer.. Is he your fiancé?"
Everyone was naturally looking towards us since god blessed Salwa with a loud voice besides her vast speaking talent.
I snatched the phone immediately from her hand and said to her:
_"No, he is not my fiancé!"
I put the phone on my ear.. And i said to the other side:
_"Allo"
Nadir's voice came immediately saying:
_" bonjour Noursine, i'm glad you accepted the call"
_" is there something that i can help you with Mr Nadir?" I asked directly not wanting to have any sort of chat with him.
He answered to my surprise:
_" i'm currently at the lobby in the filladi co building, will you kindly come meet me for few minutes, i won't take much of your time"
I looked at Salwa rather uncomfortable, i couldn't say to him: "Mr Nadir, if you need anything then you should speak with my husband and not me, Eliyas Filladi, the freaking owner of the lobby where you're standing!"
I was afraid that if i refuse him then he'll start feeling free to come to the company and call the receptionist's office whenever he pleased, so being in a tight position i just said:
_"ok, i'll come down right now"
_"thank you"
I gave Salwa back the phone and i begged:
_" Selwa, can you not speak about this with my coworkers in the office, i'll feel so awkward about it if they came to ask me about it"
_"who is he though?"
_" my cousin" i sort of lied.
Because yes Nadir was sort of my cousin, he's my mother's nephew.
I left before Selwa got the chance to ask more questions, i took the elevator and i went down to the lobby.
I didn't look around for so long before i spotted Nadir sitting elegantly on a chair, wearing classy clothes and omitting the Aura of a wealthy person.
He stood up once i was standing in front of him and reached his hand to shake mine, i refused.. Not because it was particularly him, but because i just:
_" i don't shake hands with men"
I explained.
It's just religious abstinence that Nadir apparently doesn't follow being someone who lived in a foreign land for so long where such habit is common.
I sat on the other set of chairs in front of him.. Fixed my coat while trying to spot and guards around me and then i asked:
_" what did you want to meet me for mr Nadir?"
He looked at me for a bit, and then he started to explain:
_" i believe we haven't properly been introduced before, I'm Nadir Ghemmari.. Currently a lawyer in Xx lawfirm, my father was Hadi Ghemmari.. He was the closest friend of your father."
I looked at him surprised.. And asked:
_" my father's friend?"
_" Yes .. Noursine" he answered.. Being the laywer that he is, who never speaks without conviction and evidences, he immediately opened the folder he was carrying and took out a group of pictures, while handing them to me he continued:
_" you and I have met in numerous occasions during your childhood, but i believe you have no recollections of me, it's only natural .. I was 16 when your father died.. You were 10"
I looked at the pictures he showed me, they were pictures of my father when he was younger with another man.. There was many of them, and there was a picture of a much younger me with the two of them and a boy.
I felt so reminiscential while looking at that man who had my sun kissed skin and the brightest smile in the universe, who hadn't yet lived for so long when i lost him.. I missed My father.
My heart felt so heavy looking at the smiling him in the pictures.. Seeing him holding the young me in his arms, he was the kindest person in the world to me, my life turned into a continuous misery without him.
I hardly kept my tears when i met my father in this way: Happy with a friend.
I looked at Nadir again and i pointed at the the little boy standing in the last picture while handing all the pictures back to him, and i asked:
_" is this you?"
_" yes"
_" you were a short fatty.." I commented.
I tried to remember such a short fatty person .. And i blurrily had a recollection of a boy whose name was Nada, and who was an introvert who didn't like me at all, as for the other man in the picture.. My father's friend, my memories of him were larger in size, he used to buy me a lot of candy, And he visited us few times after my father's death as well. But a lot of people visited us after my father's death so i never felt he was anyhow more special.
_" wasn't your name Nada?" I asked.
The elegant lawyer sitting in front of me bursted in a laughter while putting the pictures back in the folder and corrected me:
_" my name was always Nadir.. You just loved to tease me by calling me a girl's name.. I believe you had a girl friend whose name was Nada, so you decided to give me the same name as well to save your self the hardship of remembering a new name."
Thinking about it, i indeed had such corrupt logic.
_" Noursine, my meeting with you today has no relation to your mother, in fact i had no initial plan of meeting you until your mother told me that you were married to the son of Belguassem Filladi, i think you have no idea about this .. But your mother came visiting my father right after your father ,mr Farid's, death. She claimed that your father had his accident right after meeting Mr belguassem Filladi, she wanted a legal consultation to know how to carry an investigation, and that was how she was referred to my uncle Noureddine Ghemmari and the rest you know it.. They ended up marrying each other neglecting your father's case, i find the must to tell you that my late father was against their marriage by all means, and the only reason for which he had never tried to contact you again until the day he died after your mother's elopement is because your grandmother opposed to that and put the blame on him, your mother contacted me when you finally asked to see her, so i intruded.. Because i wanted you to know about this, and to be careful of that family"
I looked at him suspicious yet mostly not believing what he said, i remember that my father's accident happened on his way from D city to our hometown as well, but i know my mother, she always had the habbit of pointing finger at people with proof and without a proof, perhaps she just wanted to threaten Belguassem to have some money as compensation and when her plan failed she just eloped with a rich lawyer and never came back, As a journalist, i must look at everything from an objective view before deciding, take Eliyas's matter as an example .. I had long misunderstood him just because i judged him subjectively.
Speaking of Eliyas..
I noticed that the movement around me in the lobby was getting increasingly suspicious with every passing moment, many calls were being made and the initial crowded lobby was gradually and suspiciously being emptied of people.
_"this is my card Noursine" Nadir interrupted my line of thinking handing me the piece of thick paper.
He smiled elegantly and added:
_" i apologize for this sudden meeting, i was afraid my visit to Algeria would come to an end before getting a chance to see you, i'm flying back tomorrow"
_" i'm sorry for your loss.. And thank you Nadir" i said truthfully.
I wasn't thankful for his warning or the struggle he went through to see me, i was selfishly thankful for those pictures.
I wanted to ask him to give me those pictures so as i can copy them, especially that one where my father was holding me, although i have other pictures of my father.. But the one can't help be greedy for more from our precious deceased.
But my demand was interrupted before it was made.
Nadir looked behind me and then he said:
_"Mr Filladi"
I followed his gaze only to find out that Eliyas was standing right behind me, I was so surprised.
_" Mr Ghemmari" Eliyas said elegantly with a nod.
He looked at me unperturbed and then addressed Nadir saying:
_" i believe Mr Ghemmari lived in a foreign land for so long that he forgot the formalities of his mainland, how come you meet my wife behind my back, should i take this as an offense to me?"
Nadir laughed mockingly and he said:
_"Mr Filladi, i'm well educated and behaved accordingly to the mainland manners, i believe that your long marriage with miss Noursine Saadat hadn't yet been reported to the public, thereby she's still publicly unmarried, you had previously said you never considered her as a cousin as well.. Which makes you a mere stranger to her, i needed to discuss a personal matter with her.. I believe a mere stranger has no relation to that, then why should i inform you?"
I looked at Eliyas, he usually keeps a nonchalant cold face even when being threatened.. Even when he's throwing a threat after another as well, he always led a life of a ruthless businessman in face of all the circumstances, never getting affected with others.
But the moment Nadir finished saying those words and i looked at him, all that image was drastically shaken, instead of a cold person .. I found a man who looked at me with pure worry in his eyes.
I know him, he was only worried that i would agree with Nadir's words .. And suspect him subsequently.
You see.. This man is my husband, i would never want to see him getting weak, no matter what was the reason for that, even if that reason was me.
So i looked at Nadir and I maintained a straight face while lying:
_" we both agreed on keeping our marriage a secret__"
But i was interrupted by Eliyas right away, he put his palm on my shoulder as if asking me to stop lying.
I looked at him again, That momentary worry and hesitation had all disappeared as if they were never there, he looked at Nadir so intensely that in my heart i knew
"Nadir Ghemmari is a dead person now"
Well i don't think he'll actually kill him, but there's a lot of ways in punishing people.. And Eliyas filladi is the master of that.
Take khoujali Fateh as an example of that, he's the loving father of Lydia Khoujali .. My truly ultimate enemy and the woman who was the primary cause of all the hardships that i lived. Her father was so powerful that he even was elected the chairman of the leading party of our country, he was a foot close to running for presidency having great chance of actually winning, This most powerful man who went threw the heat and storms during his long political carrier and had survived and strived, was brought down from the top of the mountain to the bottom of it in a matter of few months by my young thirtyish husband, I naturally was informed about this while dealing with some report in my work, i was so surprised to know that Fateh khoujali had simply resigned and put an end to all his political carrier. Therefore i asked my coworker whether Mr khoujali was terminally ill because it seemed like the only logical explanation, to my surprise my elder coworker said:
_"that man is healthier than a horse! He only retired because he was caught red handed and threatened to be sent to jail by our CEO, all the company knows about this! although i don't understand why would mr Eliyas Filladi turn against mr Khoujali, he was the right hand of mr belguassem- his father-"
Well he turned against him for exactly this reason, because he was his father's most powerful supporter.
That husband of mine is a monster i swear.
How would Nadir stand against him? His chances don't look optimistic at all.
After i stopped talking, Eliyas said in a frightening tone:
_" i see you're very interested in my wife's private matters, i heard what you said .. Every word of it, so i shall take them most personal, you can leave Mr Ghemmari, we'll meet again very soon"
Nadir acted as if he was not affected .. But i bet those words shook him to the bones.
He soon left in his elegantly manner leaving a silence behind him.
When he went out of the door and Eliyas and I were left in the lobby, i was finally free from distractions therefore i could properly analyse my entourage.
The lobby was almost empty.. Only few guards were here and there .. The building is designed in such a way making the large lobby have a rather high ceiling, 4 to 5 floor's high, there were windows from those upper floors having a view to the lobby, i never was so keen of such architectural details but i turned into a very critical analyzer of the design of that lobby, because every window meant a possibility for a worker who is randomly passing beside those windows to witness me standing with the CEO!
I was so worried about whether Eliyas took notice of that or not, i was about to ask when he suddenly held my hand firmly and said:
_"follow me"
I hadn't yet accepted when he already started dragging me to the elevator.
He didn't say a word on the elevator nor on our way to his office, The top floor where his office is located had very few people working there, when we reached it, even those few people were cleared, i now understand my coworker's excitement when he saw Eliyas at the clinic in my first day in work, he said he only saw him twice before, as it turned out to be, even twice is a miraculously high number!.. Because everyone on the way of this magnificent man is cleared when he walks!
When we were passing by his personal secretary's office the poor woman was dumbstruck seeing us holding hands, Eliyas totally ignored her existence,
He opened his office's door .. And then slammed it shut violently once we walked in.
I was so surprised with the amount of force he used to close the door, When he turned to look at me again i was surprised with the intimidating gaze he gave me, And when he stepped even closer i was surprised when he ended up kissing me!
I was confused with his strong kiss, It wasn't at all passionate, it was just strong and possessive.
As if i wasn't me, but i was a belonging of his.
He didn't give me a chance to breath, and when i tried to resist him he tightened me to his chest with his arm and absolutely refused to let me go.
When i snapped from my confusion i realised what he was doing was just not correct.. It was so hurting me.
_"Eliyas" i called his name weakly when he went down on my neck.
As if he was perturbed with my voice.. He went back to kissing my lips violently and biting them.
Then he finally withdrew his self.. While panting he cupped my face and said:
_" you're mine Noursine .. You're only mine"
