"You got your heart broken?" Seems we're both fucked up. Life sucks.
"Yeah... His name is Joel." She sighs, dejected. Again, silence predominate for a couple of minutes.
"I obviously don't know that guy, but I can assure he's a jerk."
Summer lifts her head.
"How can you be so sure?" A tiny laugh escapes from her mouth. I smile at her.
"Was he?"
"Well, I loved him and he broke my heart."
"That's the definition of a jerk."
Summer giggles. Suddenly, my cell phone rings and I roll my eyes. It's Justin. Fucking Justin, always so timely.
"Dude, where are you? We're gonna get some pizzas, you want one?"
"Whatever, order what you guys want and I'll eat the leftovers."
"Don't take too long or we'll eat all the pizza." He hangs up.
"You need to go?" Summer asks.
Honestly, I would stay here all night with her. We're having a great time knowing more about each other. Maybe we can go to the nearest grocery store and buy some food.
"It's okay, my friend Ally might also be waiting for me for diner." She stands up. "We can continue talking another day."
I stand up and grab my skate.
"See you next time, then." We look at each other, unsure what to do next. In the end we say goodbye with a hug.
Back home, the guys are eating while watching Netflix. I approach the pizza and get some slices.
"Were you with that girl?" Jordan asks. I shrug.
"Who cares?" I answer with my mouth full. I swallow.
"Tell us her name at least." Justin insists. I sit on the couch.
"Summer. We're just friends." I have to make sure our status to them so that I avoid stupid comments.
"Copy." They say, but I notice them exchanging a weird glance, as if they were thinking the same thing.
"Why don't you invite her and her friends to Andy's birthday party?" Justin suggests, I don't know why.
"How come? They don't know Andy."
"But the party is here, in our house."
"I'm with Justin. The more, the better, don't you think?" Jordan winks.
I scrunch my nose. I don't even know if she likes parties. Plus, we often get out of our control when it tends to parties. Although lately I've been spending parties in my room or in the kitchen drinking until I can't stay standing.
"I don't promise anything." I reply.
