The sun was slowly rising along the horizon, painting the sky with flecks of orange and pink as you sat on the back of Daryl's motorcycle. The side of your face resting against the angel wings on the back vest as you watched the trees fly by.
Daryl's hand rested against yours that was wrapped around his stomach, his thumb rubbing soothing circles over the back of your hand while he drove.
He didn't ask why you changed the plan and killed Chuck, he didn't need to. He knew there had to be reason and he didn't push for information.
He spoke with your brothers and Cas while you climbed onto the back of his motorcycle and you figured they had told him what Chuck had said to you, that he had murdered your mother that night all those years ago.
Your thoughts were cut short when Daryl suddenly let go of your hand, needing his other hand to squeeze the clutch in to shift down the gears as he slowed the bike down. You didn't lift your head from his back as the familiar trees and abandon buildings on the side of the road flew past and you knew you had reached Alexandria.
A moment later, you were driving through the gate, Carl waving at you from the watch platform as you gave the kid a smile before Daryl pulled the motorcycle over between the Impala and Ricks van.
You watched as they all climbed out the van, Rick saying something to the others who all nodded before walking off as Rick made his way over to you as Daryl helped you off the back of his bike.
"Alright, kid. You really think you can pull this off." Dean's voice said.
You turned away from Rick and Daryl to find Jack standing in the middle of the gateway, looking out at the woods outside of Alexandria while Dean, Sam and Cas all stood behind him.
"I can't turn the world back to how it used to be." Jack began to say as you, Rick and Daryl walked over to them. "But, I can turn it back to as normal as possible."
"Which means... what exactly?" Daryl questioned, as you reached their side.
Jack stared out at the sun slowly rising above the tree tops as a lone walker staggered out from the trees.
"I can get rid of the walkers. I can stop the dead from coming back to life. But, I can't undo what Chuck did. I'm sorry." Jack apologised, turning towards the group of you with a sad smile.
"It's okay. You don't have to apologise for that. That is... hell, that is the best news we've gotten all year." Dean responded and you all nodded in agreement.
Jack could kill all the walkers in the world and he could stop people from turning into a walker when they died. The world might be permanently changed, but at least now you didn't have to fight against the dead. You could do more than just survived, you could simply live.
"Thank you, Jack. Thank you all for everything." Rick said, speaking up for the first time as you glanced over at the former Deputy.
"You're welcome." Jack replied with a smile before he clicked his fingers and out the corner of your eye, you saw the walker by the trees just disappear.
He did it.
Holy shit, the kid did it.
For a moment, nobody said anything before Sam broke the silence.
"So... does this mean you're the new... I mean, what do we call you?" Sam asked.
"Who cares what we call him? Look, all that matters is he got us back online." Dean responded, looking over at Jack proudly.
"So, are you gonna stay at Alexandria with us?" Rick asked causing you to frown. Why wouldn't Jack stay at Alexandria? Where else would he go?
"What do you mean? Of course he's gonna stay. He's the man with the plan. He can do whatever he wants now. Come on." Dean responded, turning around about to start walking back through the gate before Jack spoke up.
