Then...

You thought back to one of the last fights Sam had with Dad... God, looking back on it, it was so stupid.

After months of trying to find John Winchester, you had finally gotten him back, you were all finally back together again. He was still hunting the yellow eyed demon, but you were together and you were actually working a case as a family.

You had spent years wanting to be a family again. After Sam left for college, things weren't the same anymore.

"Vampires nest in a group of about 8 to 10. Victims are kept in the nest and the pack keeps them alive, bleeding them for days or weeks. I wonder if that's what happened to that 911 couple." You said as you continued to read the information in the book your father had given you.

Sitting in the back of the Impala, you leant forward and handed the book over to Dean who for once wasn't driving.

"That's probably Dad's thinking. Course, it would be nice if he just told us what he thinks." Sam grumbled, staring at the road as he drove.

"So it is starting." Dean sighed.

"What?" Sam asked.

"Sam, we've been looking for Dad all year. Now we're with him a couple of hours and there's static already?" Dean replied causing Sam to scoff and shake his head.

"No. Look, I'm happy he's okay, alright. And I'm happy we're all working together again-"

"Well, good." Dean said, cutting him off knowing there was going to be a 'but' in Sam's response and he didn't want to hear it. Neither did you.

You were all finally together again, you didn't want them to fight.

"It's just the way he treats us like we're children. He barks orders at us, Dean. He expects us to follow them without question. He keeps us on some need-to-know deal. Y/N, you agree with me right?" Sam asked looking at you through the revision mirror as you shook your head.

"Dad does what he does for a reason. Doesn't mean I agree with everything, because I sure as hell don't.... but, it's Dad! He has his reasons." You answered truthfully and Sam just rolled his eyes.

"What reasons?" He asked and you opened your mouth to answer, but Dean bet you to it.

"Our job. There's no time to argue, there's no margin for error. It's just the way the old man runs things."

"Well, maybe that worked when we were kids, but not anymore, alright? Not after everything the three of us have been through." Sam argued glancing at the both of you as Dean shook his head before he continued to read the book.

The three of you drove in silence after that while music played softly in the background.

It was dark by the time Dean's phone started to ring and you were bored out of your mind in the back seat

"Pull over by the next exit." Dean suddenly said once he hung up the phone.

"Why?" You asked curiously, leaning forward between the two of them with your forearms resting against their seat.

"Dad thinks he found the vampire trail."

"How?" Sam questioned in shock.

"I don't know, he didn't say." Dean answered and not a second later Sam slammed his foot down on the gas.

You quickly grabbed onto the back of their seat to stop yourself from flying backwards. Sam sped past your fathers truck and before you could even open your mouth to ask what he was doing; the next thing you knew Sam slammed on the breaks.
