As the evening of Thursday approached, Jason managed to play one of the songs in his guitar and had me entrapped more if it was possible.
Jason had mentioned that he would be done with the ordeal of proving me wrong, when I joked that he could not play. In the evening, I was diligently finishing one of the assignments when Jason's furious knock on the door took me by surprise.
"What Jason?" I asked without any emotion.
Without answering, Jason took my hand and pulled me out of the room. He left my hand once we were inside the living room."Mom just went," he stated and picked up the guitar which had recently been his second most prized possession; the first being his car.
Jason was waiting for Livia to go before he could let me hear him play for the first time. Livia knew that he was learning to play it. Regardless, Jason insisted that she did not know that he was getting better at it because he wanted to surprise Livia on her birthday, which was soon.
I sat down across Jason while he picked up the instrument and began to warm up with doing some queer noise which did not have any melody.
He looked up at me once before beginning his actual playing. As soon as he began, the sweet strumming symphony filled my ears. His fingers moved swiftly causing the melody to sooth every inch of the body.
I sat there listening to the soothing sound. His fingers were deft and his eyes closed. Initially he was just playing a melody which I recognised was that of the song 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran. However, when he began to sing along with it, I was utterly awestruck.
How did I not know that he could sing?
I had invariably loved the idea when he said that he could play the guitar. Now he was singing?
I was completely bewildered by Jason's voice. The way he played, his relaxed posture, his facial expressions, the deft fingers and not to mention his manly voice. I was enchanted by it all.
"Why did you stop?" I asked exasperatedly when Jason ceased playing.
"That was the whole song," Jason said smirking as he saw my shaken state."Wow. Jason why didn't you tell me you could sing so well?" I asked as I was struggling to get out of my daze.
"Somebody had adviced me to try harder to get a certain person's attention. I would say that I had succeeded in doing exactly that," Jason teased me without answering my initial question.
Those were my 'words of advice' to Jason and now he was using those against me.
"Fine you were really good now stop pulling my legs," I said with a surrendering tone.
"So Vianna Austin is now surrendering? I thought she always won," Jason continued to tease me."Who told you that Jason Carter? You should not speculate anything you know," I added with humour.
Jason did not say anything else but sat down on the couch, keeping his guitar in the side.
"So who else knows that you are a secret superstar?" I asked him.
"Just you," he said as he took out his phone to keep in on the table.
Hearing his answer, I smiled to myself inadvertently. Even though it was stupid, I somehow felt important."Have you packed anything for tomorrow?" Jason inquired.
"Not yet," I replied.
"It's a beach bonfire, so pack accordingly," Jason added.Surely when I began to arrange my things to take it, I took Jason's advice.
We were supposed to go to the beach after school and spend the whole day there after which we friends would spend the night in Noah's place.
In school, on Friday, there was a festive mood amongst most. Almost all the people, of our age, were supposed to go to the beach that day and all of us were excited.
The whole day went by quickly and as school ceased all of us went home as quickly as possible.
Aiden had announced that he would take her mother's van which was big enough to fit all of us six people in it. Jason was supposed to go there with his friends.
As the clock stuck 5 Aiden arrived. I was the last one he picked. I put my backpack in the trunk and got inside the car which was hustling.
"We're twinning," Addison said excitedly as I got inside. Both of us were wearing, the same white coloured tops and similar shorts.
"Oh my gosh why am I so excited," Thea screeched. We could feel her because the feelings were mutual.
It took a little more than an hour to reach the beach. The whole way, we had music blasting though the speaker and we sang along.
We had been best friends for so long that all of us knew our preferences and had become accustomed to the songs that we once had disliked. For instance, the boys knew all the lines to the Taylor Swift's songs that we heard. They even sang along with it showing more emotion than the others although at the beginning of our friendship they were unaware of those.
As we reached the beach, Aiden parked the car amongst the hundreds of others.
"Wohoo," Addison shouted out of joy, getting out.The music that the DJ was playing could be heard from the distance. The parking was in an upper platform from where the people on the beach could be seen.
"There they are," Addison half yelled upon seeing Noah and the boys in the distance. Jason was there. The one person who I loathed but was there too was Avery.
As Addison went towards Noah, he pulled her to him and swiftly kissed her.
"Are you all going to stay at Noah's place tonight?" Avery asked without giving much attention.
"Yeah all of them are staying," Noah announced."I hope you have had enough rest because tonight we are going to partyyyyyy," Owen shouted which enlivened the situation at once.
All of us went near the main area where most of the people were crowded.
Music was blasting through the speakers against which the cool breeze and the minimum sound of the waves seemed comforting.
All of us were dissolved into the party that was going on. We danced to the beats of the edms which played. Before long, the Sun began to set and darkness fell in every corner. There were even lights arranged which gave the exact amount of light that was required for the party atmosphere.
By the hours that passed, all of us had became worn out due to the excessive dancing and movement. Honestly, I did not have so much fun since a long time. I was carefree and I utterly enjoyed it all.
It was almost two hours after which we ceased to give our legs a break. Though, most of them had taken short breaks in between, I had not stopped for once since the initial time. How I got all the energy, I had no idea...
The music continued but it changed into a slower one. Thus, I sat down on the sand beside Aiden.
"Didn't your secret lover come?" I asked him.
"No. Stacy did not show up," he announced.
"Aiden are we even going to meet her for once?" I inquired with a serious tone.
"Yes Vee someday," stated Aiden with a smirk."Come on let's dance," Aiden said as he got up and put his hand forward to hep me get up.
"I'm tired," I began to say but Aiden managed to pull me up and take me to the dancing platform where couples were slow dancing at that time.I locked Aiden's neck with both of my hands while he held me by the waist and we moved along with the music.
"Vee are you alright?" Aiden asked out of the blue.
"Yeah why?" I quizzed."Since the past few days you have been quite quiet," Aiden stated.
"I just had a hard time with you know Reese gone and all," I announced not telling him anything else.
"All of us are here for you, you know. If anything ever happens we will always have your back," Aiden stated hearing which my heart warmed."Although there is something that I need to tell you," I mumbled.
"What?" he asked pushing me enough so that he could see my face properly.
"I think I really like Jason," I declared.
