Jason shook me from my long trail of thoughts when we reached the house. He at once got out of the car while I sat behind for a couple more seconds before doing the same ordeal.
With steady fingers, I opened the lock of the house while Jason stood behind me patiently. However, my legs initiated trembling just as I entered the Reese's room. Noticing that, Jason put his hand on my back in a comforting way to show that it was alright and that I was not alone this time.
I approached the drawer where the documents were kept. Holding the knob to open it, I looked at Jason unsurely.
Was the truth worth the pain that I was about to feel?
Was it all worth it for just scrape information from the past which eventually may not be of any aid?
No I needed to know all of it!
I knew that my inquisitive mind would be the death of me even if I was not aware of the past for that would only result in me making up darker stuff inside my head.
Jason gave me an assuring look, seeing which I pulled out the drawer. All the papers and files were exactly how I had seen it the previous time I had seen.
With a deep breath, I grabbed all the documents and piled those up on the floor. The floor was not moped and dust particles was visible by the naked eye. However, I did not give any heed to it and I sat down beside the stack of papers. Jason did not seem to mind either because he sat across me.
I opened the one on the top. I had seen that the previous time but I wanted to go though all of it again because last time I was not concentrating fully.
It was the file that said about Reese being the secret agent. I handed the file over to Jason as he beckoned me to do so. With great concentration he went through the whole thing after which Jason put it aside.
I opened the next file which I was halfway through reading, until, I had closed it the previous time I was in there. Jason came and sat beside me so that he could see it too as I was reading what was written inside.
To say that I was shocked would be the biggest understatement of the year.
In the end there was a newspaper cutting which had my parents' face in the picture.
The headline said: 'Mysterious death of two'As far as I knew my parents died in a car accident. That definitely was not mysterious. I mean car accidents happen all the time. What was the mystery in that?
By reading the headline only I was certain that I was about to find out something that was completely new and of great diversity.
I began to read the paper cutting that was about to alter the way I looked at life. With every line that I read, my heart beat was rising.
The cutting only had half of the article for which I could not mnow the rest of the detailed part. However, by the looks of it the thing that I was sure of was that the death of my parents was definitely not as simple as a car accident.
I kept on looking down even after I had finished reading the whole paragraph.
"Are you alright?" Jason barely whispered.
"Almost," I answered back. I was not okay and I was well aware of that. My knees were trembling and I was fidgeting every once in a while. I just learned that my parents death was one whole lie!Instead of getting all melancholic about it, I was beginning to get outraged. I was angry for everything and on everyone.
With force I pulled out the next file. Jason looked at me skepticaly but did not day anything else as he saw the burning fire inside my eyes.
As soon as I opened the next file, I found out one of the information for which I had gone to that place initially. My ancestors!
The whereabouts of my grandparents, my aunts and uncles and my cousins.
I was shoked to my core. Here, all these years I was told that I had no one. All of a sudden after 17 years of living behind the shadows, I found out that there were actually people who were alive and were related to me by my blood.
I was grateful that I was sitting because if not I would have collapsed and get hurt.
After that there were a few more papers. The things written in those were nothing in comparison to what I had found earlier.
At the end I did not even bother to organise the files. I just carried the pile and kept all the mess inside the drawer. Jason helped me with that ordeal.
"Vianna are you sure you're okay?" Jason asked with concern marring his whole face.
"I'll be fine," I blurted out. With two big steps Jason emerged toward me and pulled me into a hug. He was a couple of inches taller than me and I could listen to his heart beat as we hugged.
"I'm sorry," Jason whispered.
"Why are you sorry?" I asked without showing much emotion.
"Because you have to go through it all," he replied.
"It's not my parents and I am overwhelmed. I can't even imagine what you're going through," he said. Instead of replying I just hugged him tighter."Let's go home," I said after a long time, breaking the hug. He nodded and took my hand in his before both of us went out of the house.
Jason drove back home while I sat in the passenger seat. I was in a crouched position the whole time, holding ny knee as a support. My head was in a mess. Never in my wildest nightmares did I ever think that I would find out what I did. The worst outcomes that I have imagined seemed too good in front of the reality.
As we reached home, I went straight inside the house without even looking left or right.
"Vianna," I heard someone call my name which brought me back from my trance.
I turned to see Jason walking with a frown and in the distance stood one of those with home I did not want to encounter at that moment.
It was Finn.
It was the first time I was seeing him since the day he had said all those things. I knew he was here to apologise. I already was having migraine and I was in no mood of listening to the pitiful words of anyone.
"Can we talk?" Finn asked softly.
"Finn can we not talk right now?" I asked.
"Please Vianna I'm really sorry," he began."Finn all of it is okay. Don't worry about it. I'll talk with you later. Now is not the right time," I explained.
He could not even fathom why I was not in a mellow state. Finn simply assumed that I was still mad at him for his behaviour that day when in reality I had almost forgotten about it.
After I dragged my exhausted body upstairs to my room I jumped into the bed. I was suffering from migraine which was probably caused due to the day's activities. As the pain was augmenting, I went to bed hoping that I did not have any nightmare.
