What if the person is still inside the room? Should I run from the place or should I go in and check. There was a possibility that someone might be inside because there was no way of figuring that out by staying on the other side of the door. However, I had a thing for such situation and my mind was more curious than ever. The decision was an easy one, for me, and I ran swiftly to fetch the spare keys.
After rummaging through my drawer I finally found the spare key to Reese's room. Upon doing so, I ran back and opened the door, ready to run downstairs provided that someone else was there. Regardless, what I thought the sight, of Reese's room, left me bewildered and for a moment I stood there unable to make anything out of it. I shouted my friends' names at the top of my voice for them to hear from downstairs. After they came and saw the condition, their faces held a similar perplexed countenance as mine.
"Did a tornado pass though here or what?" Aiden was the first to speak up and break the silence of the room.
None of us answered for we all were still absorbing the fact that someone else had barged inside her room and ransacked through the area. Papers and documents of all kind were lying on the ground all mixed up. Files after files lay on top of each other stacked in different corners.
The mud that I had seen in there, on the previous night, was gone which also meant that someone had cleared it up. It seemed that the person cleaned the mud but did not have the patience to clear up the mess after searching through the documents.
"Did you see any of these earlier?" Thea asked bending over to look at the nearest paper.
"No. Reese's papers were always locked up inside her cabinet," I replied with a low voice, trying to recuperate from the bewilderment.
"Then only she will be able to tell if anything was taken at all or not," added Aiden."Should we tell Reese about this?" Nathan inquired.
"Well she will have to know at some point," mentioned Thea.
"Also if something is missing it would be better to deal with it now than later," I added."There are probably a thousand paper in here, all scattered. How will Reese even know if anything is gone or not?" Nathan pointed out.
"Well she will know it," I replied. Reese had always locked that cabinet where she kept all the files. When I was little I used to ask about that a lot and every single time, Reese used to reply that those things are very important and that I was not allowed to see those. I was certain that something as important as those papers were to be remembered by heart."For now let's just organize it so that when Reese comes back she does not have another attack after seeing this," Nathan joked but all of us looked at him wide eyed.
"Nathan there are times when you can joke about something but this is definitely not the that time to joke about what you just did," Thea pointed out.Nathan did his signature face where he grinned from ear to ear which made his eyes almost closed. Like every other time we all laughed seeing that for it was actually hilarious and Nathan knew it as well. What would I have done without these idiots?
"Anyways guys let's get to work," Aiden interrupted our laughing session and we all began to organize all the papers on the floor.
The four of us commenced with the four corners of the room and began to arrange the papers and files accordingly. We were all working silently at first, but just as we were getting bored, Thea turned on some music in her phone. For a time being, we sang along to the music and worked but after a while all of us began doing our job in silence again.
As I was digging into the papers, I saw that some of the files were left there without anything inside it. I presumed that the person, who barged in, had taken the documents. That or Reese had great attachment with the empty files which made her keep those.
