Chapter 37

The previous night I had told Jason the thing that was bugging me from a long time. Honestly, I felt as if a burden was lifted from my shoulders. Jason had been an excellent listener the previous night and telling him the whole thing helped me immensely with my mental health too.

In the morning of Sunday, I woke up a lot better than I have been since the past few days.

As I went downstairs, after freshening up, I saw that Noah, Owen and Eleanor were sitting there around the dining table. They all greeted me with their warmest smiles.

"Good morning," Jason added which made me smile.

"Hey! It's a surprise to see you all gathered here so early in the morning," I said as I subtlety yawned.
"Early? Vianna do you know the time?" Eleanor spoke.

"It's noon sweetheart," said Noah which made me grasp.

Noon? I slept for so long?

"Seriously?" I asked downright astounded.
"Uh huh," Owen added.

Woah! No wonder I was feeling different. I must have slept for almost twelve hours. Now that was a record for me!

I went and pulled one of the chairs to sit.
"Are you feeling okay? You look weird," Noah said eying me oddly.
"Vianna just slept for a half day. People tend to look fluffy after sleeping for so long," Jason joked.

"I'm hungry," I announced and looked at Jason helplessly. I was too lazy to make myself anything and was praying that Jason would say there was something ready for breakfast.

"So make yourself something," he told me but I noticed the slight smirk.
Hearing that I dramatically hit my head on the table, professing my annoyance.

"Spaghetti is kept inside the oven," Jason said the words after a good minute which I was elated to hear.

"Vianna what are you doing next weekend?" Eleanor asked as I got up to take out the spaghetti from the oven.

"Nothing that I know of. Why?" I asked.
"So you can come along with us," she stated.
"Where?" I inquired.

"Haven't you heard?" Noah asked at once.
"Hear what?" I asked, more confused than as ever.

"Next week, there is this some bonfire thing going on. All the people from our schools are going," Eleanor explained.

"Addison told me that she's going too. She was supposed to tell you too," Noah declared.
"She probably texted me. I haven't checked my phone since yesterday," I stated.

"When is it exactly?" I questioned.
"Next weekend. The bonfire will be held by the beach. After that we are planning to stay in the beach house that night as it would get pretty late," Noah explained.

"Beach house? How will it be able to accommodate everyone present provided that there will be hundreds of people," I added.

"That is because the beach house is Noah's parents'. And at night we friends will be staying," Jason added.
"There a few of my other friends and we all will be staying for the night," Noah added.

"You will come as Jason's plus one," Noah stated firmly after some time.

"If you come as Jason' plus one then we can tell Avery that and she will be a little less clingy," Eleanor explained what Noah had meant to say.

"So that is why you are inviting me in the first pace. You want me there because of Avery and so that you are able to keep her away,"I looked at Noah and said those words teasingly.

"It you say so," Noah teased me back and winked at me playfully. That was one of the things that I simply adored about Noah; he was carefree in these ways and did not take the jokes seriously.

Noah, Owen and Eleanor left before lunch time. I was not hungry as I had breakfast late. However, I tagged along downstairs in the kitchen where Jason was preparing his food.

"So you are coming to the beach house then?" he asked. Jason was making egg sandwich and had his back faced towards me. He could see my face and I was more grateful than ever because or else he would have caught me staring at him.

"Yeah," I answered him after a prolonged silence.
"What are you thinking?" he asked after I answered after the silence.
"Nothing," I replied. I could not possibly say that I was staring at him like a creep.

Even though I was not famished, I had one sandwich as Jason finished making them.

"Jason do you think it will be odd for me to say that I want to go to my old house?" I asked in the middle.

"What? Why?" he interrogated me out of shock because of the abrupt introduction of the topic.
"I don't want to remain ignorant. I want to know the details?" I explained.

"That thing hurt you and you know it will hurt you again," he declared.
"Are you sure you want that?" Jason asked me. I nodded silently as a reply.

"If you plan on going, I can accompany you, you know," he announced.
"Thanks," I said while smiling.

After having lunch I went upstairs to study. I had to complete all the work from the past few days that had been adding up to my pending list. By just thinking about it my head began to hurt.

With a big mug of coffee and strong determination I sat down on my chair. However, upon opening the book, I was beginning to get deterred. It was mostly due to the thought of the intensity of diligence that was supposed to be needed for finishing everything.

It all seemed incomprehensible. Nonetheless, with my butt stuck on the chair for the next few hours, I tried to do as much as I could.

By the end I was surprised by the amount of work that was already done. I had finished doing three assignments and even went through one of the topics that we were supposed to have a test on the coming day.

It was almost around sunset when I got up from the chair and stretched my limbs.

I was desperately in need of a break. Unlike the many other times, the break was well deserved because I had practically not taken any since the time I sat down for studying all those hours back.

I went downstairs to grab a chocolate from the fridge. It was then when I thought of it again.

I wanted to know what was written in those papers back in my old home. I certainly did not want to be nescient.

But was it worth going to the lion's den on my own accord?

The fact that I wanted to know was equivocal.
I had to know about it someday or another. So if it meant that I will know in the future then why not now?

As I pondered, the keenness to know, cultivated inside me. After the next few minutes I was certain that I would go there again to know what others facts had been kept hidden from me.

There was a high probability of me getting tormented but I had to know about the past.

My past.

Reese's past.

I rushed off to my room and took the key to the car. On the way down, I knocked on Jason's door to let him know I was going there.

"Are you for real?" Jason asked with eyes wider than ever.
"Jason I have to know it at some point of my life," I clarified. He kept looking at me nonplussed.

"I'm coming too," he announced after he recovered from his befuddled state.

I was actually sort of hoping that Jason would accompany me. He was the only person with whom I had shared all the intricacies of the whole situation. Not even my friends knew about it all. Jason had been nothing but a supportive friend and I was extremely grateful for that.

We left the house shortly. I drove my car while Jason sat beside.

I was aware that not all the things that I may discover was going to be friendly enough for me. There were chances of finding out certain information that was probably best hidden. However, without getting deterred I drove to the place assertively and hoped that there was nothing that I needed to worry about later.
