Two days have passed since I went to the police station and gave my number to the officer. I had told him that I wanted to meet with the detective that day. For two whole days I had kept my phone in front of my eyes at all times but no calls came from any unknown number.
My impatience and curiosity were getting the best of me. On Sunday morning I had got up from my sleep early and went out for a run. I must say that it was energising and refreshing.
After almost an hour of staying out in the morning I returned home to see something inside the mail box. It seemed to be a letter. However, the thing that made me wonder was that it was Sunday. I very well knew that there was no post on Sundays! Vernon Dursley from Harry Potter had glued it to my head.
It was a thin letter and was addressed to none other than me. That was yet another surprise. None of my acquaintances or any other people ever send me a letter by the old fashioned way. Additionally, there was nothing else written on the top of it.
I went inside the house holding the envelope in my hand.
"You woke up early," Jason said seeing me.
"Yeah, I went for a run," I mentioned before rushing to my room.I closed the door behind me and sat on my bed before carefully tearing the top of the envelope.
There was a single paper of printed writing. The paper was filled with words on both the sides and I turned to the last line to see who it was addressed from.
Just as I saw the name, all of a sudden, it was as if all the blood had rushed from my face.
It was a letter from Reese.
It did not matter how the letter got here on a Sunday. The only thing that I thought of was that I was more than elated to get it.
I read each and every line with full concentration. It was not a very cheerful one but I was contended to hear from her.
The topics she wrote about ranged from various subjects; starting from wishing me good luck for my basketball tournament to how I could do the daily things in a better way.
It was not a very lengthly one but the minimum words from her made my day. After a long time I was genuinely happy. Reese was fine wherever she was and was doing great. That was more than enough to keep me elated.
I took half an hour to read the piece of paper which would need a maximum of five minutes to be read at a usual pace. Following that, I kept it safely in my drawer and went downstairs.
Jason was still there, sitting beside the table and was eating his cereal.
"Was it from a boy?" he teased me as I sat on his opposite side."It was Reese," I announced at once. Jason, who was holding a spoon full of milk and cereal, looked up at me at that instant which made the milk spill over.
"What did it say?" he asked.
"Nothing much," I replied. He did not question anything about it further and I did not say anything else to him either.Livia came downstairs right at the moment when I was finishing my breakfast. I told her that Reese had sent me a letter. As a reply she gave the warmest hug and smile ever possible.
"I can't believe she chose the old fashioned way," I chuckled as I was saying that to Livia.
"Reese is a woman of wonders," Livia added."Anyways. Have you decided what you will wear at tonight's opening ceremony?" Livia asked excitedly.
"I had two dresses in mind," I replied while smiling as I saw her excitement. The tournament was to begin the coming day. Before that we had a formal opening party in school where all the teams and players from all the schools, including their coaches and staff, would join. Each year it marked the beginning of the tournament.
