Omniscient

The car ride back home was silent. Ares stared out the window second-guessing his every decision up until this point. He understood his actions were extreme but that was he how handled things in the past, and everything always seemed to work out for him. It had never crossed Ares's mind that Ahsha would reach this point. He glanced over at her seeing her hand caressing her belly. All he wanted was to be the most important man in her life. He wanted her love all for himself. He looked back out the window before he heard Ahsha begin to hum softly. He listened intently to her as she hummed the mystery song feeling himself become drowsy. Unbeknownst to him, Ahsha was spinning a web to create his own little nightmare.

Ares walked into the living room a smile gracing his face once he saw his son and wife. "Hi, daddy." His son said waving with a huge smile. Ares walked over kissing the top of his head before walking over to his wife who was holding another child, a little girl. "Hello, beautiful." He said kissing her lips. "Hi, baby." She said smiling. "Hello, little one." He said scooping his daughter from her arms kissing her cheek. He sat down talking with his family enjoying the peaceful moment.

The doorbell sounded and Ahsha stood to go answer it with their son going with her. Several minutes passed when Ares heard his son scream. Ares stood turning to see a dark figure he couldn't make out walking towards him with his arms locked around Ahsha's neck. He looked down at his arms seeing his daughter was gone and he realized his son was nowhere in sight either. "What the fuck?" He said trying to clear his vision, but he still couldn't make out the man before his sight went dark.

When he opened his eyes again, he was in a cement room his vision still blurry before he realized he was in one of the cells in the tombs. The door slammed open and in walked his shaky mate with tears running down her face. Ares began to thrash about in his seat as he tried to break free when he saw bruising on his mate. "The least you could do is show your face." Ares spat once his eye landed on the dark figure that stood back in the shadows.

The mystery man chuckled. "One would think that you'd be able to recognize yourself." He said as he walked forward. Ares's eyes widened at the sight. "No," Ares said shaking his head. Standing before him was no one but himself. "Yes." His double said with a smirk. "I would never—" "Never hurt your mate—your family. Really?" The double chuckled. "Let's be honest here." He added gently rubbing Ahsha's cheek.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Ahsha whispered looking at Ares. The double looked at Ares. "Yeah, why are we doing this Ares?" The double asked. "I'm not doing anything! Let her go!" Ares yelled. "He's being coy, kitten. This is happening because you are mine. I earned you and I intend to show why you belong to me." He said grabbing a fistful of her hair.

"Don't fucking touch her!" Ares yelled as he began to thrash about. "Why not? She's my mate." The double said. Ares watched in horror as everything slowed down. Ahsha's head was jerked back before the double kissed her. The double laughed at her pitiful attempts to push him away before his arms wrapped around her waist. "I will kill you!" Ares yelled. "And how do you plan to do that." He taunted watching Ares struggle. Ares realized the implications that could arise from killing essentially himself. The double laughed seeing the realization wash over Ares's face. "That's what I thought." The double said before throwing Ahsha over his shoulder. He turned slowly walking out of the room leaving Ares desperately trying to get out of his chains. The last thing he heard was Ahsha's broken screams before everything faded. "Ares!"

Ares

I shot up as a small gasp left my lips. I looked around the space scanning the surrounding area registering that I was home and lying in my living room. I quickly stood rushing upstairs to find Ahsha. I burst into our shared room finding it empty. "Fuck!" I snapped remembering she had been sleeping in the guest room. I rushed down the hall and to the room she'd been staying in. I almost broke the door down to get inside only to hear the shower running. I walked over to the bathroom pushing my way inside and swinging the door opened. Ahsha jumped as a scream slipped past her lips. "What the fuck!" She yelled. "Get out!" She screeched, but I ignored her walking into the shower as she backed up into the corner. I pulled her into my arms getting completely drenched by the water but I didn't care. "What's happening?" Ahsha asked struggling to get out of my hold.
