"You can't do that!" "You are fucking insane." Ahsha's head tilted, and she smiled. Pablo placed his hand on her thigh, stilling her. "You see how he's soothing her?" Malik questioned. "That's a distraction." Sergio gasped as Ares held a knife up to his throat while Franco panted, shaken as his face was slammed into the table by Marius. Ares leaned in close to Sergio. "Do not raise your voice to our mate." He spoke from the depths of his body.

"And you certainly shouldn't curse at her either." Marius sneered, baring his teeth. All the leaders and their second in command had been seated in front of Ahsha and her mates as they discussed the changes she wished to implement. One of the most pivotal changes was to strip the Pereiras of their titles. Given how they endangered the lives of not only the Queen and Prince but they also attempted to commit treason against the Kings.

Losing their titles and royal status wasn't up for debate or question. It was happening whether they were on board or not. She'd only gotten through her first two points, and clearly, her mates weren't going to be able to sit through any more outbursts. "Apologize to your Queen," Ares barked, pressing the knife closer. "Go on, apologize." Marius snapped, adding more pressure to Franco's face. "Boys." Ahsha's seductive voice hummed softly, drawing all eyes to her. "Hear me and hear me well." She began.

"As your Queen, I'm always open to hearing your ideas and suggestions; I welcome it. Many of you lap me in age and experience, so I understand that many of you may need some convincing on my reasoning for how I've chosen to handle a situation. Respectfully questioning my methods is fine, and I won't be upset by it." Ahsha's eyes lit up with flames as she spoke.

Her hand slammed onto the table, echoing throughout the room. Franco's breathing came out in puffs, and Sergio's face began to redden. Marius let Franco go, and Ares stepped back, watching both men struggle to breathe.

"However, I fear you all have mistaken my kindness to mean you can speak to me as you see fit. That is not the case. We are not equal. We are not friends." Oshun and Ahsha's voices began to mix, and the air grew thick with tension. Her hair began to lift, and flames popped off her body, shocking everyone.

The smile that had once been on her face twisted into a dark, powerful glare. Franco clawed at his neck, struggling to breathe. Sergio was dripping in sweat, looking as if his skin was beginning to boil.

"Take this as your first and only warning. Do not disrespect me. If any of you decide that you're feeling brave, please, by all means, try me. Anybody feeling brave?" Her eyes scanned the table. Silence. "Smart choice." She raised her hand from the table, watching Sergio and Franco suck in a deep breath of air.

"As I said, Sergio, Franco, you two endangered the lives of your Queen and the Prince as well as tried to commit treason against the Kings. You've also been found to be failing in your roles as the leaders of your people. So this isn't a debate. There will be no compromise or workaround. You will be forfeiting your title and position." "So you're giving everything to Gino? That's not fair." Franco's hoarse voice countered.

"No, I'm not. Gino was offered the position as sole ruler, but he turned it down." Ahsha's smile grew as the two men looked at their brother. "Would the new ruler of the Vampires like to stand?" Everyone looked around before Pablo rose to his feet. "I am at your service, my Queen." "Pablo, now being a vampire and willing to step up to the role as well as outranking all of you, is now in charge. Any further questions on the matter, please address your King." Pablo looked at them, daring any one of them to question him.

Ahsha's eyes went to Roman, and he sat up clearly on edge. "Let me guess, you're giving Marius my place as King." "Considering you haven't done shit for our kind. I'd be doing us all a favor." Marius bit back. "I'm sure you're going to be sad to hear this, but no, Marius will not be taking your place. At least not right now." Roman's lips curved. "Don't start smiling just yet. You haven't even heard the news. It is with great honor and pride that I announce the promotion of Katalina Lavallette to interim Queen of the Wolves."
