AhshaI was panicking, and I had no idea where to run. I could hear his footsteps as I rushed down the hall of family portraits and to the front door, but it wouldn't budge. I turned running down another hall that led to a set of stairs. "Ahsha." Malik or rather Ares sang. I ran up the stairs which led to a smaller set. "Shit, why did I wear this big ass dress," I said pausing to catch my breath. I ran down the hall checking each door only to find them locked. I came to the last door and amazingly it was opened. I went inside and closed the turned to look for a hiding spot.
The bathroom was too obvious. I couldn't fit under the bed because of my dress. I looked at the closet before rushing to it. I hid as far back into the closet as I could. I listened as the door opened then closed. I could hear his heavy footsteps walking further into the room. My ears were ringing, my heart was racing, and I really, really needed to pee all of a sudden.
It got really quiet and in a split second the closet door was snatched open. There he stood in the doorway. I stood terrified of what he was going to do next. He slowly walked towards me as I had tears rushing down my face.
"Look at me." He whispered darkly causing a shiver to run through my body. I turned and looked up at him. My heart was racing as he stared down at me intently. My body went ridged under his intense gaze as he crept closer. He lowered his head down to my level never breaking eye contact. He raised his hand up and gently caressed my cheek as he wiped away the fresh tears. "Take a deep breath." He said softly. I did. "Again." He said. I did it again and I felt myself calm slightly.
His eyes flickered from black to green before resting on green. "Malik?" I asked worriedly.
Ares
I could smell the fear dripping off my mate and knowing I was the reason behind it angered me greatly. I could hear her running up the stairs. "Shit, why did I wear this big ass dress?" I heard her mumble out of breath. I chuckled. I walked up the steps two at a time. I reached the top just in time to see her run into my room. I walked down the hall giving her time to try and hide. I popped the door open with ease and walked in. I could smell her scent coming from the closet and I slowly made my to the door and I could hear her heart racing. I opened the door and I saw her cowering in the back of my closet. She stood with tears racing down her face as she looked at me. "Look at me," I whispered roughly watching her shiver.
I stared at her curiously watching as she tensed up as I got closer to her. I lowered my head to her level staring into her eye before I cupped her cheek. This was the calmest I had felt in a long time. I brushed away the tears that had rolled down her face. Although I hated that my mate was scared of me. The scent of her fear was intoxicating. "Take a deep breath," I said softly. She did hesitantly. "Again," I said. I had calmed down enough to the point that Malik was able to come forward. "Malik?" She called.
Malik
I could feel the hurt and jealousy Ares was feeling when she called my name. "I told you not to run," I said. "How could I not when you changed into this..." She gestured. "What are you?" She asked. "An Angel?" She asked looking at my wings. "Although I've never seen an angel with black wings." She mumbled to herself. Ares chuckled. "No, quite the opposite," I said. "Will you come out and let me explain?" I asked. She hesitantly nodded her head.
As we stepped into the room as a loud bang came from the door. "Ahsha!! Please open the door!!" I heard what sounded like Isaac yelling. Ahsha rushed to the door and Isaac ran in and before she could close it the door was kicked in and she was knocked to the ground.
A low growl left my lips as I went to help her up. I turned, pinning Veronica against the wall by her throat. "P-pl-ease." She breathed out. "Malik stop." I heard Ahsha say. I turned my head to the side cracking my neck. She walked over to me and hesitantly grabbed my arm. I could feel Ares simmer down. I looked back at Veronica before I let her fall to the ground.
"Ahsha we need to get out of here," Isaac whispered. "Malik said he's going explain what he...they are," Ahsha said looking at her brother. "Sit down," I said gently. She stared at me before she walked over to the bed and sat down.
Ahsha
Veronica came and stood next to Malik or Ares or whoever he was at the moment. "We are what human call demons," Malik said. "Oh hell no," Isa said shaking his head. "Ahsha we don't play with demons," Isa whispered. I felt the same way but I wanted to hear what Malik had to say. "There are dozens of creatures that walk around amongst you like humans and you would never know it and we like it that way." He continued. "Where do we come into this?" I asked.
"Soulmates or mates for short. We all have them you happen to be mine." Malik said looking at me. "And you're mine." Veronica said looking at Isa. "And that means you have our hearts in every way. Our very being is to make you happy." Malik said staring me down. "You are mine and I am yours." He said staring down at me making me squirm. "What if I don't want to be yours?" I asked locking eyes with him. His eyes darkened as he clenched his jaw. "That's not an option." He said tight lipped. "I didn't sign up for any of this," I said as I stood. "I don't want any of this. I..." I froze as I turned around to see I was no longer standing in a room with Veronica or my brother. It was a dark room with a huge window that overlooked the city. I turned to see Malik sitting on the bed looking at me.
"Where are we?" I asked. "My apartment." He said. "Why?" I asked. "Because I don't want you to be scared of me or run from me. I want you to hear me out." He said. I turned and looked at him completely. "You know you felt something between us and if you say you didn't then you're a liar." He said as he stood. "How do I know you didn't make me have those feelings. Seeing as how everything I know has changed who's to say you can't make someone fall in love with you." I said bluntly. "I can." He said taking several steps towards me. I went to speak but he continued. "But the two times I did it made the women more so obsessed with me rather that fall in love with me. Plus because you're my mate my powers don't really work the same on you. I couldn't make you do anything you didn't want to." He said before he fully reached me.
I looked up at him skeptical. "I don't think I want this," I said looking at his face. His eyes darkened slightly before they changed to this light green color. He walked closer to me making back away from him until my back hit the cold glass of the window. I hadn't noticed how I hot I was until now. He dropped his head down leaving an inch or two between us as he looked at me. "Close your eyes." He said smoothly. I hesitantly closed my eyes before he spoke again, "Open your eyes." I looked around to see were back in the ballroom and I looked around to see it had cleared out to just Malik's family and mine. Nunu rushed over to me wrapping her arms around my waist before my mom joined her. "Are you okay?" She asked me. I glanced over at Malik seeing him already looking at me. "Yeah," I said. "Where's Isa?" I asked until he came walking into the ballroom holding Veronica's hand. He looked at me for a second before he rushed over to me. "Are you okay?" He asked. I nodded my head. "What happened?" My dad asked as I was surrounded. I fell silent for a moment.
"We've chosen to cut all contact," Malik said looking at everyone before he looked at me. He turned on his heels and left. His family looked at me before they followed his lead. Tyla and his mom, however, gave me sympathetic smiles before they left. I turned and looked at my own family before I headed out to the car.
