Brett was nervous. He hadn't really expected Eddy's shaky question to invite Leonora over for dinner after filming the very same day. Eddy had honestly looked like a beaten dog when he asked, and it hurt to see.

The fact that Eddy was all jumpy the rest of the day after getting a "sure, if you want" from Brett, cleaning the house and making sure they had everything for the dinner ten times kind of hurt too. Brett didn't really know why, either. It was just this sting in the bottom of his stomach every time he thought about all the nice things Eddy was doing so Leonora would be comfortable.

"I'll start dinner, I think, so it's ready when she gets here," Eddy said as he put Elise's toys in place for the millionth time despite her barely having dropped them in favour of a different toy. She was technically still playing with them. "I was thinking to make lasagna."

"Lasagna sounds good," Brett said softly, trying to seem more okay than he felt where he was on his knees next to Elise, half-heartedly trying to play with her. Of course, Elise was mostly ignoring him because of how weird he felt.

Eddy, on the other hand, did not notice Brett's weird mood. He was far too busy being excited about seeing Brett's ex girlfriend. It slowly made sense to Brett what this sting in the bottom of his stomach was, and why he was so out of it.

Brett was jealous.

God he hated how Leonora got all of Eddy's care even if she was carrying the twins. It didn't help that he didn't feel secure about the twins being his, that he was scared he was not loving them enough. He just wanted this all to be only about him and Eddy, but she kept sneaking into their lives.

His train of thought and emotion must have travelled longer than he expected, because he only snapped out of it when the doorbell rang.

"Can you get it?" Eddy asked from the kitchen, sounding like he was taking the lasagna out of the oven.

"Yeah," Brett mumbled, getting up and dragging his feet to the front door where he was certain doom was waiting.

It wasn't doom, of course, it was Leonora as expected.
"Hi sorry, I'll need to use your bathroom like now," she said with a chuckle, quickly kicking her shoes off.

"Oh... Uh yeah, just straight down there," Brett said, pointing to the bathroom door. He didn't have time to gather his thoughts before she waddled off to the bathroom, only barely waving to Eddy as she passed him.

Brett followed her back out to the living room, feeling completely drained for emotions. Eddy looked over at him and quickly pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you again," he whispered, kissing Brett's forehead gently. "I know this is difficult for you."

"I'd do anything f..." Brett began, but was interrupted by a terrified shriek from the bathroom that made chills go down Brett's spine and pressed stop on the world for both of them.

"I'm bleeding!"
