Normal POV

The first week of winter break went by in a flash. It was a routine, the two boys coming back home from morning practice and around three in the afternoon, I'd drop by Kuroo's to study. My work has been improving, Kuroo gave me a test on Friday and I managed to get 40%.

It wasn't a passing grade yet, but it's a work in progress. I returned the favor by teaching them English as I was doing quite well in that. Time in America did sharpen my English skills and of course, conversing skills.

When I first spoke to them in English, they were dumbfounded and super amazed I spoke so fluently. I was utterly abashed. I continued to bring snacks over during study sessions and when we decided to call for a break, the three of us would take turns playing games.

Even though Kuroo and Kenma were inseparable, being childhood friends and all, somehow I felt included and happy when with them.

Kasun-san had contacted me as well, I've been keeping up with work; dropping by the school in the evening to check if anyone has been in or out of the tent. There was a notice outside of their entrance, saying: "Closed for winter break. No harvest."

It snowed recently and the ground had a fresh layer of snow every time I went by. So that indicated that nobody had been mingling around. Kasun-san further encouraged me to hang out with the duo and make connections. I don't think I have any problem with that, Kasun-san. Those two make me feel like they're family already.

Sunday came and I texted both of them the address of the paintball arena. The place was outdoors, so I told them to wear some warmer clothing. The location was a couple of train stops away, not near town and not entirely in a forested area. We decided to meet in the morning to have more time to play around if we wanted to. Plus, shooting at night seemed a little too advanced for them.

I had arrived half an hour earlier from our set time. Since I knew some of the staff here, I needed to let them know to treat me as a typical customer. Our team would occasionally use the field for training and I knew some of them personally. After telling them my situation, they reassured me that they would handle us professionally. As I sat down on the bench in the waiting area, I received a text from Kuroo.

"We're almost there. Don't be surprised, but Kenma isn't on his game console for once. He's very excited," his message said. I smiled to myself. After fifteen minutes or so, I heard Kuroo's voice call out to me, "good morning, Kageyama!" Kenma softly greeted me as well.

"Good morning. Are y'all feeling alright? It is a little colder since we're near the forested area," I stood up from my seat and went over to them. "We're good. We wore extra layers like you told us to. So what are we doing first?" Kuroo asked.

"Well, since both of you have never done this before, we're going to let you try out the guns first. Then we'll need to get into some protective gear and then we can start!" I waved my hand to ask them to follow me. I led them into a building where all sorts of guns were laid out and hung on the walls.

"Oh! Good to see you again, Kageyama-chan! It's been a while since I've seen you come around. It was with your father for the last few times!" Mr Uta, the weapon master, as we like to call him, greeted me for the second time that morning. So that's the story he's going for, huh.

"Ah, yes! My dad is getting too old for this. I invited two of my friends here today, Kuroo and Kenma. They've never done this before, be gentle with them, okay?" I learned over the counter and introduced them to each other.

"Oh! I see I see. Well, let's start with what weapon you would prefer! We have the beginner's choice, AEG M4, light recoil and easy to spray. Or if you're your more daring, AK47, larger recoils but still easy to spray. Oh, maybe you're a sniper person? VSR-10, easy scope and lightweight." Mr Uta brought the three guns out.
