Normal POV

"Then I'll see you tomorrow in school," Kuroo bent down to give me a quick kiss before heading back after sending me back home. I closed my door behind me and silently apologized to him because I'll be making my way back again. I think it's best if I go around midnight; I'll be less easy to spot if anything happens.

Almost 11.30 in the night, I changed out of my home clothes and into an all-black outfit. The weather was still relatively cold so I picked out the best-insulated suit I could find. I can't be wearing bulky winter coats for a stealth mission. I tied my hair back and stepped out of my house. I grabbed my bike from the back of my rental apartment and made my way up the hill to Nekoma Highschool.

I parked my bike within close distance from the main gate. It was obviously locked, but that wasn't going to stop me. I went around the back, looking for the tree that reaches above our school fence walls. When I found it, I climbed it almost too easily. I hopped over the wall and found a couple of crates to stack up for my exit later on. My heart was beating fast, well, that was expected. I might get caught and that'll be the end of the mission. But what's new?

I made my way over to the tent; the campus was eerily dark. The street lamps outside barely lit up the interior and I had to squint my eyes to see in the dark. There wasn't much moonlight tonight either; better take it to my advantage then. I came up to the gardening tent and started to pick the lock. Were we trained to pick locks in the TMPD? Yes, yes, we are.

After hearing the lock click a specific number of times, it clinked unlocked and I unhinged it from the door. I slid my way inside and closed the door behind me. I took out my flashlight and shone it across the room. Just a bunch of flowers and lettuces. Just what does the gardening club even do on campus? I was puzzled but I kept myself focused.

I swept the room further in search of any plants that screamed toxic. But it was evident that Mr Deki and company wouldn't leave it in plain sight. So what I really was looking for was another door or some sort that leads to the suspected underground plantation. I knew that Mr Hoshiki had been here a few times, trying to scout out this area, but never succeeded. Perhaps I can dig further.

Several minutes had passed and the cold was beginning to get to me. Was it because I was nervous? I tried to shake the shivers off of me and continued to scan another part of the room. It was then when I heard footsteps outside the tent. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest as I switched off my flashlight and fumbled to hide behind a few hydroponics stands.

"Oi! You didn't lock the door today?" A raspy voice whispered out. "I- I could've sworn I did!" Another voice rang out, a deeper one this time. "Keep sniffing those plants and you'll break our cover. You dumb shit, you definitely forgot about it this time," the raspy voice scolded the other guy. The door creaked open and the room filled with moonlight.

My heart was thumping hard against my ribcage as the pair of footsteps inched closer to me. Thank God they didn't have lights in the tent, or I would've been found out a long time ago. I peeked over to see who it was - Mr Deki and Mr Kaguri. Mr Deki seemed even more shaken than before - he must've taken a huge dose before coming tonight. Mr Kaguri looked composed to me. The pair made their way further in and stopped at a table at the far end.

They moved the table aside, along with a few boxes of documents and revealed a hatch door underneath. The two opened it and made their way underground. I listened to their footsteps grow softer before I got out from my hiding spot and peered in. It's such a narrow stairway down. What the hell was this? How can this structure not be drawn on the campus's main floor plan? I took out my phone and took a picture, making sure my flash was off.

I scurried back into my hiding spot and waited for the two figures to erupt again. I wasn't risking going down there with them inside. I don't even know what it's like down there, best to hold up here and wait till they're gone.

I glanced at my watch, stating it to be two in the morning now. I was freezing already; I may have underestimated the midnight weather. What are those two doing down there? It's been more than two hours already! I mentally groaned and took a deep breath to calm myself down. I have to find out what's down there; tonight could be the night where I gather the last pieces of data for us to bust this whole rig. I have to be more patient.

Half an hour later, the footsteps returned. The hatch door swung open and both of them staggered their way out. Are they... high? I narrowed my eyes. "I'm gonna call for an off later. I definitely can't teach like this AHAH," Mr Deki slurred. "You idiot!" Mr Kaguri retorted as the two finally made their way out. Their laughter echoed into the night sky and faded away quickly. They didn't even bother locking the door, lucky me.

Finally coming out of my hiding spot, I made my way to the hatch door, flipping it open. I carefully made my way down, utilizing a simple mirror to check the corners for cameras. After meticulous checking, I deemed this place clear of security footage - quite amateur work if you ask me.

I finally reached the end of the stairway and came face to face with a door. No lock... this was suspicious. It isn't normal to leave a hidden sector unprotected. I glanced around, and as suspected, a keypad was tucked nicely underneath the stairs. Thanking the cold weather tonight, I blew a breath of hot air onto the pad and exposed the fingerprints on it. Now for the sequence.

I pondered hard, rummaging my brain through tireless meetings, thinking of a code that had been repeated throughout the trafficking circle. They started their work officially on 06/04/2011; I looked at the keypad in front of me. The numbers do match. I gulped and pressed in the date, hoping for the best.

After punching in the numbers, the door clicked open loudly, and I breathed out a sigh of relief. I scooted over and opened the door. Holy... shit. I counted over a dozen plantations of Sanshin, a newly created drug that we had found out about a couple of months prior to this assignment. And I just hit the mother load. I whipped out my phone, snapping pictures, hoping that it wasn't too dark to see.

I made my way further into the room, regulating my breathing slowly in case the air in here had effects. A bunch of documents were stacked up in a corner. I scanned through a couple of them: recipient contacts, addresses, loans and shipment timing. I have to take these back to HQ. But if I do that, they'd stop everything for sure. Pictures, I have to take pictures for now. "Observe, record and report" remember your job, Amber.

After I had done everything, I placed them all back the way they were to the best of my memory. I quickly made my way out, locking everything in place, except for the main entrance.

I contemplated. Would Mr Kaguri remember that it wasn't locked when he left just now? Would he be too high to remember? Argh! I'm gonna leave it unlocked. With that, I ran across the school campus, back toward the tree and up the crates. I swung myself over the wall and swooped down the tree effortlessly.

My body was shaking; I wasn't sure if it was the cold or my nerves or excitement that I've just gained valuable information. I pumped my legs on my bike and zoomed back to my apartment to update our team file. I may have to head down to HQ and skip school tomorrow. I dropped Kuroo a quick text at four in the morning, "something came up at work. Missing school later, I'll text you for dinner later."

With that, I called it a night and I got some shut-eye before waking up at six to catch a ride to HQ in the morning.
