"Let's step up the pace!" The examiner said. It seems like Kurapika had taken off his tabard so that he wouldn't sweat as much, and Leorio was, well.. struggling to say the least. He dropped his suitcase, and was panting. Since you already knew him, you decided to confront him.

"Leorio, try your best okay? We don't have many chances to take the Hunter exam so nows the time to work hard!" You said with a smile on your face. Somehow, that motivated him. You weren't sure if it was because it was you, or because of your words. Probably both.

"All for you lady (y/n)! It's the voice of a goddess!" He said. He had taken off the top part of his suit because he was sweating as well. Oh lord.

Kurapika sighed at his sudden reactions and face palmed, it seems like he was over Leorio's simping for you. Probably because it was annoying and looked incredibly out of context because he looked way older.

As you kept running, a lot more people had dropped out and gave up. This wasn't even the beginning, after all, there were more phases after this one. You lowered your head, it was painful to see people give up so measly. You felt extremely bad for them, but I guess that's just reality.

"Hey, look up ahead! It's the stairs!" You heard Gon say, as you lifted your head to see. You thought about running faster to make it there quicker, and so that's what you did.

"Wait up, (y/n)! We don't want to get separated, do we?" Kurapika said from behind. He had a point, you shouldn't complain even if you are an excellent runner. Some people don't have the same stamina you do, I guess it's part of being a retired shinobi.

"Oh right, I'm sorry Kurapika. I'll go slower and wait for you guys," you calmly said. You then looked behind you and saw Gon with leorio's suitcase, what a good and helping friend he was. He must've gotten it with his fishing rod.

As you got closer and closer to the staircase, you got more excited. You've always wanted to take the hunter exam, your deceased family wasn't the only reason you took it. Sure, you wanted revenge for their deaths, but it also gave you something to do. You didn't really have a goal, though.. it's not like you wanted to live for only revenge but some things had to be done.

The spiders.
'It is my job to kill every single one of them. From their heads to the tips of their feet..

Their souls..

Skeletons..

Everything.'

Flashback

"(Y/n), I'd like to give you my necklace. I'll never forget you. They're about to bust in, go hide somewhere so that they can't see you." Your mother placed the piece of jewelry in your hands, as some of the spiders came in. She softly kissed your forehead with tears streaming down her face, she was going to miss you as much as you were going to miss her.

They burned your house down, but you were able to escape. You did get a couple of burn marks, though you were fine. They weren't too serious, but it was enough to kill a weakling.

"Look! It's over there!" One of them shouted. They looked towards your direction and started chasing after you.

You were running and running, but unfortunately one of them caught up to you. They grabbed your wrist and got a look at your face.

"This is why we kill them. Because Its eyes are disgusting. They're different from us." They scoffed.
(I'm sorry if you actually have different colored eyes they must be very beautiful))

This disgusted you. Just because of your eyes?! How did this make you any different..? They aren't even valuable. Just because of my appearance makes me..

A monster to them.

You got angrier and angrier, and soon you snapped. You took the end of your mother's necklace from the charm and stabbed them with the sharp point on their arm, then ran away. You went to go find the rest of your family to tell them to hide.
