Chapter 27: The Grimm Eclipse part 1

Kai's POV

I sat in front of the TV in the rec room, watching the news about the upcoming eclipse.

"Tonight, after eight long years, the eclipse nicknamed The Grimm Eclipse will be seen once again. Scientists have confirmed that the strange activity of Grimm on nights of the eclipse has been directly caused by it, but they are why the strange behavior is caused.....

I threw a empty soda can at the TV, only to have Nora pick it up right away. She hasn't been acting like herself today, she has hardly talked at all and she has been acting way to nice to me. The only person that she has actually talked to was Niko and they both seemed to be nervous about something. Niko was running all over the school; closing the wooden shutters on all of the windows. It was like he was afraid of something outside. And thats not even the worst part about today; Niko told me that it was best for me if I didn't go outside today. This really annoyed me, but when I told Nora about it, she actually agreed with Niko. Now im stuck inside while everyone except for team RWBY, Nora, Ren, and Niko are out having fun and enjoying the eclipse. Nora set another soda on the table and said. "Ok, you have soda, TV, and if you need anything, send me a text. Now stay in here, please." She hugged me and left the room. I tried to keep myself entertained, but eventually i became bored out of my mind and i started throwing an empty soda can in the air. I checked my watch and saw that it had been a few hours and i was sure that the eclipse had started. "This is bullshit, I'm a team leader and I am sitting here because i was told to by my sister." I slammed my fist into the wall, but for some reason I felt no pain. This interested me, but I got distracted by a noise outside my window. I slowly walked over towards it. I yanked open the curtains and was startled by seeing Ruby right outside of my window. I quickly opened the window and helped Ruby inside. "What are you doing here?"

She said. "Well......I'm here to let you go outside. You shouldn't be stuck inside all night, so I'm letting you go outside. Even if its just for a little while." I thought about this and said. "Well a little rebellion is good for development." Ruby smiled and we both climbed out the window and up to the roof. The night sky was blanketed in clouds, but i didn't care, i was able to get some fresh air and thats all that mattered. "Thats more like it." Ruby said. I nodded and took deep relaxed breaths. After about fifteen minutes, I decided to head back inside. When climbing back in, I nearly slipped; my stomach hit the window sill and knocked the wind out of me. I slowly pulled myself back into the room, letting myself hit the floor and lied there looking at the window. As I sat up to close the window, the clouds cleared and i saw the eclipse for the first time. The moon had a red tint to it and it was surrounded by a large black shadow. As soon as I looked at the eclipse, my head felt like it was sbout to split open. I slammed the window closed and closed the curtains quickly; soon after the pain subsided and i went to lie down. I felt like i was losing consciousness, but the more i resisted, the harder it got to stay awake. I blacked out and i regret ever looking at the eclipse.

15 minutes later
Nikos POV

Weiss and I were relaxing in the team RWBY dorm; lying on her bed and cuddling. I was wearing a simple pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. I really thought this would day would actually be calm and relaxing. That was until i heard a giant crash down the hall, I really hoped that my predition about what the crash was wrong. I quickly got up and pulled on my boots; praying that I was wrong and running down the hall. I ran into Professor Goodwitch in my panic and told her. "If Beacon has a lockdown protocol, start it if something happens." I didnt give her a chance to respond before I continued running towards where Kai was. When i reached the rec room door, I saw Nora running from the opposite side of the hallway. "Lets hope we're wrong about this." I said. Nora agreed and tried to open the door, but it was locked. "Nora move." She stepped to the side and I kicked the door; breaking the side of the door frame. "Since when could you do that?" she asked. As I was about to answer, a chair was thrown from the darkness of the room and struck me square in the chest. The impact threw me into the wall behind me, leaving an indentation from my body. As I pulled myself from the wall, i was confronted by Kai; he had transformed into his Dusk form. "Looks like I was right." I said in a sad tone. Kai grabbed me by my throat and threw me down the hallway; I was thrown through a wall, landing in an empty dorm room. Professor Goodwitch came running into the room when she heard the crash; when she saw me lying in a pile of rubble, she rushed over to me and help me. "I told you to start the lockdown protocol if something happens." I said as she helped me up. "I can handle the problem, just start the lockdown." I told her. Professor Goodwitch hurried back towards the main office and soon her voice played over intercom. "Attention all students, this is a lock down. Repeat, this is a lockdown; remain inside the dorm closest to your current location." Dusk Kai roared and ripped one of the speakers off of the wall. I yell to Nora. "Gather up the others and meet me in the main office." I sprinted at Dusk Kai and tackled him; slamming him into the wall. Dusk Kai struggled to break free from my grip. I was about to throw him when i felt one of his blades puncture my chest. Dusk Kai swung me with all his strength and slammed me into the walls several times before i was sent down the hallway and hit the wall next to the main office door. Dusk Kai charged right at me and i paniced, using my semblance to make a mimic of a glyph and have Kai charge right at it. His charge nearly shattered the glyph, but i just barely managed to hold it together using my aura and send Dusk Kai flying down the hallway. I hurried into the office and the others barricaded the door, i helped them push a large desk infront of the door.

"What the hell was that thing?" Blake asked. I sighed and told her. "That thing....is Kai."
