Kai's POV
Ozpin called the remaining members of my team to his office, none of us knew why he's call us down for a meeting so we wasted no time. As soon as we entered the room, I knew that something was wrong. Ozpin sat at his desk, an expression of concern plastered across his face; the two people on either side of him seemed to be arguing with each other. The two figures were none other than Danniel and an Atlas general. The general had raised his voice at Danniel, trying to intimidate him. "If you don't tell me the location of them, then I will have you charged with treason and be in a cell the rest of your life." Danniel simply sighed and told him. "I've told you Ironwood, I can't tell you the location. Your have your forces attack and it'll stir the hornets nest." General Ironwood's face became red with anger and he slammed his fist against the table. "I have the most skilled and experienced task force at my disposal, they can disable the warheads and dispose of them without causing a disturbance." Daniel chuckled and said. "You wouldn't be able to get within thirty yards of the place without setting the alarms off, none of you have a Spire ID tag." Ozpin ended their argument and brought us up to speed on the situation. "We've received information that the Spire private military company has been assisting in the creation of incendiary missiles and have started the preparations to launch them. The targets have been confirmed, The Atlas military command post in Vale, the military supply depot, and Beacon Academy. My breath was taken away and I turned to Daniel. "Is it true?" I asked, hoping that Ozpin was wrong. He shook his head. "But there was some good news attached to this. The only way we got the information was from nine other than Mr. Nikolai Spire." Now I was stunned and confused. There was no reason for him to help us, yet he warned us and probably saved hundreds of lives. It didn't make any sense to me and I wanted to know why. Ozpin continued talking. "We have a mission; an almost suicidal one, but if we succeed then the missles should be destroyed mid flight. It's at least a six person job, so choose the other three wisely." He waited for me to accept the mission, desperation could be clearly seen in his expression. "I'm going, but if you two dont want to-" Ellen cut me off. "Nice try Kai, but we're not just gonna stay behind while you have all the fun. I'm in." Tess have me the same answer.
Ozpin sighed. "Very well. Who would you like to accompany you. I'd suggest a second year or third year group." I thought about it. "No, I'd like to ask Yang Xio Long, Blake Belladonna, and Weiss Schnee first. Afterwards ask others." He was surprised as well as concerned with my choice. "Are you sure Mr. Valkyrie? They don't have very much experience in the field." I nodded and told him that they were the only ones I'd want to assist me. "Very well. Meet me at the airship landing pad in an hour, until then prepare yourselves.
The three of us went back to the dorm and prepared our weapons. Ellen and Tess worked on some different dust infused bullets for Ellen's revolver she named the Peacekeeper. It was like the revolvers in those old western movie my father love to watch. I got to work cleaning Nightingale and sorting out the different ammo I would be bringing. I settled on triple ought buckshot and slugs for the majority, then some incendiary for the remaining shells. Tess refilled her dust rings and made sure to seal them properly. An hour passed sooner than we expected, I had to throw my jacket on quickly and rush out the door to the landing pad. Yang and the others we're waiting for us. Danniel put what seemed to be a dog tag on a chain around each of our necks. "These are the identification tags you'll need so you don't get shot out of the sky on your way over. Once inside, try to sneak your way through as long as you can; after it goes loud you'll have one hell of a fight on your hands. There are uniforms for you all inside the airship for all of you. Good luck." With that, Danniel wheeled himself back into the school. Ozpin wished us luck and stayed to watch us take off. The uniforms that Danniel left us were black military uniforms with the symbol Niko used on the right shoulder, two of them had a silver star on the collar. The one that had to shed their bulkier outer clothing did. We looked just like the soldiers who attacked the train I was on a while ago. I reached into my pocket, finding a balaklava and pair of gloves.
Yang and Weiss needed to tuck their long hair into the uniform jacket to best conceal it, While Blake, Ellen, and Tess simply tied back their hair. Once our masks were on, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between us. Well except for the height difference, that was a dead give away. The airship flew for a while, heading towards an island south of Vale. I tried to strike up a conversation with the pilots about the location we were heading to.
Both pilots were dressed in identical black flight suits and helmets. If I hadn't spoken to them, the identities of them would have been lost to me. "How far is this place from Vale?" I asked. "About 1.5 thousand miles from the launch sight, Kai." the co-pilot said, the voice was distinctively female and very familiar. "Do I know you?" I asked, convinced that I knew the person behind the face plate. "It's Cathrine, Niko's sister. The pilot is my brother Merrick." A smile crossed my lips. "I'm glad to have some people who know this place well. It's good to have you two aboard this mission." Merrick have me a thumbs up and continued to focus on flying us to our destination. Only a few minutes passed before we switched to a stationary hover. "This is as far as we can get, good luck." The bay door on the left side opened and Catherine threw a coil of rope over the side. She have us a thumbs up and we slid down the rope one at a time. "Hey Kai. Be careful ok." Catherine said to me before I slid down the rope. "Don't worry." I descended down the rope to rejoin the others. We pulled our masks on and rushed over to a set of large hanger doors. Two small guardshacks with roadblocks filling the gap between them. "Halt. Identify yourselves." The guards bellowed. My mind went blank when they yelled; "Wait, you must me the recruits that got held up at the first checkpoint, go on inside and hurry. The boss doesn't care for slackers." The guard pressed a button and the roadblocks sank into the ground. He saluted us and we hurried through the massive blast doors.
