Third person POV
Two weeks later
Midnight
"Mr. Winchester, I'm glad you came here in such a hurry." Ozpin said. He had a rather unnerved expression. Cardin sat down in a chair across from the headmaster. "You signed up for a solo mission and I thought I'd be obligated to warn you that there is a chance for you not to come back and if you do comeback, you won't be the same." Cardin nodded. He knew the risks.
About a few weeks ago a terrorist organization came into view through bombings of buildings and weapon dealing. The members hide themselves behind hockey mask. The leader wears a black t-shirt, black pants, a black leather trench coat, black shoes and gloves. Unlike the White Fang, the new terrorists haven't shown a grudge or vendetta towards a company or any select group of people. They just want to see the world burn.
"You have no idea how important this mission is; it took a lot just to get the connections to the group, but the lives you save will be worth everything tenfold." Ozpin said. Cardin nodded and left the room.
The next day
"You wanted to see me sir?" Kai asked as he made his way into the office. "Yes. If my information serves me right, your teammate Niko Spire has gone AWOL (Absent Without Leave)is that correct?" Ozpin asked. Kai slumped in the chair. "Yes it's true." Ozpin's expression was grim. "I am sending you on a mission to escort a detective from a city to west to assist with the investigation." This news cheered Kai up a little bit. "What's their name?" He asked. Ozpin looked around on his desk for a scrap of paper that had the name scribbled on it. "Nicholas Pinkerton." He said, handing the paper to Kai. "You'll leave tomorrow." Kai stood and left the office.
After Niko disappeared, Weiss got more irritable and depressed and my confidence as a leader lessened; forcing the others to lead. I hated feeling like this, but I can't seem to rid of the feeling for long. The only ones that seems to understand what I'm going through are Professor Ozpin and Blake. I guess that they've gone through losing a teammate before and know how I feel. I headed back to the dorm and decided to just go to sleep; hoping that I'd find out why Niko left.
Gaige's machine shop
Vale
??? POV
I woke up on a cold metal table with an sore feeling in the back of my head; almost if someone had split my skull open. As I sat up, I looked around trying to find out where I was. A staticky voice said. "I wouldn't move around to much if I were you, you've been out for a while now." The voice sounded male and rather friendly. "Where am I?" I asked. My voice sounded raspy. The voice switched on again. "My machine shop." I tried to sit up and I nearly blacked out. "I told you not to move around to much. It took me the good portion of two weeks to pick the bits of lead out of your head." What I heard shocked me even more. "I've been out for two weeks?" A door to my left opened and a middle aged man with dirty blond hair came in on a wheelchair. "Yeah. I did a bit of poking around in your head to make sure I got everything. My name is Gaige by the way." I shook his hand and he asked me. "So what do people call you?" I stayed silent. "What's wrong Nine, can't think of anything?" I tried to stand and nearly blacked out once more. "How do you know me?" Gaige laughed. "You don't expect me to remember the boy that I worked with for most of his life?" It took a few minutes, but eventually the penny dropped. "Uncle Spire?" Gaige smiled. "So you do remember me. That's great." He helped me to my feet and into a chair. I heard a second voice, this one happier and female. "Papa? Are you home?" I heard her say. I saw a red haired girl poke her head into the doorway and look at us. "Hi sweetie, come here. There's someone I'd like you to meet." She came into the room and I got a good look at her. She had a pale complexion and wore a black dress, cream colored blouse, black leggings, and a pink bow on the back of her head. "Salutations." She said. She seemed very interested with my scars, interested enough to run her finger along my side. "This is Penny, Penny this is your cousin Nikolia." She smiled and said. "Hi cousin. Can we be friends?" I smirked and said. "I don't see a reason no to be." Penny smiled and I noticed that Gaige was holding a silver suitcase on his lap. He handed the case to me. "Here. You'll need this." I unlatched the case and slowly opened it. Sitting within there was a pistol, but not just any pistol. "This is Sphinx, a custom M1911 long slide. 16 inches long, 16 kilograms in weight and a 6 round magazine; it's more gun than any mere man can handle. It fires custom 13mm ammunition, a lot more powerful than the .454 casull ammunition that Jackal fires." Gaige told me. "What's the ammo made of?" I asked. "Pure tempered tungsten." He had said. "The tips, dust or hallow point?" Gaige answered." Hallow point with a helix pattern."
"It's perfect Gaige, absolutely flawless." I said, admiring the silver gun and noticed the engraving in the slide. "Monsters are just men with evil within." I smirked at it and asked. "Do you have my coat?" Gaige said to me. "It's filthy and I couldn't get the stains out, so I made you some new clothes. He helped me over to a locker in the far corner of the room. I opened it and inside were a new solid black trench coat, a grey suit, white dress shirt, a black tie, and dress shoes. I grabbed the clothes and Gaige pointed to an empty room down a hallway. I got dressed and looked at myself in the full length mirror that Penny had brought in for me. Both my eyes had been changed to the red eyes of a dusk and my silver hair now reached past my shoulder blades, but other than that I had started feeling normal again.
I donned my fedora and I was about to leave. "Niko wait." Gaige said. He threw me a pair of keys. "What are these?" I asked. Gaige pulled an old sheet off of a chopper style motorcycle. It looked like it hadn't been used in years, but when I started her up it worked like a charm. "Thank you Uncle. I appreciate all you've done for me." I said. He handed me a pair of welding goggle style sunglasses with see through black lenses and said. "It's no problem. Family helps each other, just don't forget to visit." I smiled and Gaige opened the garage door, allowing me to drive the motorbike outside. I put on the sunglasses and rode the bike towards Beacon academy. "Let's hope Weiss isn't too pissed off at me disappearing." I thought to myself.
