Niko's POV
A week had passed since Kai and I returned after getting attacked on that train and team RWBY, JNPR, and KNTE were in the rec room. Jaune and Ren were playing table tennis, Nora and Yang were arm wrestling, Ruby was...well being Ruby, Kai was hitting on Blake (with very little success. Ellen and Tess were cuddling on a separate couch to the left of the TV, while Weiss, me, and Pyrrha watched TV. I wrapped my around Weiss's waist and she blushed, then slapped me. Phyrra and I started laughing when the TV changed to a Breaking News report. The woman looked flustered, but did her best to sound professional. "A terrorist attack on at the Vale Counsel building. About half an hour ago, four trench coat wearing attackers, aligned with a terrorist group known as Vershiteli Vostorga, walked into the building and massacred their way through crowds of civilians and police SWAT teams. They bombed the main council room and the main lobby, before making their escape. One of the four attackers was killed during the escape by the brave officer, Victor Madrid. The true identity of the terrorists are unknown. For now we should be focused on mourning our lost and tracking down those who did this." The TV went back to the normal program, but no one payed attention to it. My scroll went off, as well as Ruby, Weiss, Jaune, Pyrrha, and Kai's going off. All of us had the same message from Professor Ozpin. "Come down to the Counsel building. Please leave your weapons behind." We all stood and left. Leaving behind the others." Where are you guys going?" Nora asked. "Ozpin wants to see us." I answered.
Not a word was said on the way to the airship or on the airship over to the building. The only noise we were making was the occasional cough and Jaune puking in the garbage can. Soon we made it to the city square, about sixty yards from the council building. I saw that Jaune was moving slower than the others, so I decided to help him out. "You alright?" I asked him. He nodded. "Yeah.I'm.... I'm ok." I reached into the inside pocket of my coat and pulled out a pill capsule filled with a red oil and a bottle of water. "Here this will help." Jaune thanked me and took the pill. Soon he stood up and he was keeping pace with us. "What did you give him that helped him out?" Pyrrha asked. I told her. "It was a placebo, a sugar pill. Just don't tell him that." She said ok and went back to walk with Jaune. After it seems to have been hours of walking, we finally made it to the half destroyed council building. The police stopped us at the barricade. "You can't go into the crime scene. You don't have authorization." Kai spoke. "We were told to meet Professor Ozpin." The cop said. "Oh. Well go on through, but don't mess with anything." The cops allowed us to pass and we were told Ozpin was in the basement. Hurrying along to Ozpin, we had found him kneeling at a single corpse covered in a sheet. I walked closer and stopped next to Ozpin. "Why did you call us here?" I asked, rather rudely. Kai interrupted. "What he meant to say was...." Ozpin stopped him. "No, it's fine. He has the right to be cross with me." He asked everyone else to leave for a moment; once they had left, he told us to look under the sheet. Kai grabbed the hem of the sheet and pulled it enough to uncover the corpse's face.
Cardin's corpse had a one inch hole in his forehead and the back of his skull was blown wide open. My blood ran cold, that wound pattern was familiar; Skylar's revolvers leave a wound pattern identical to this one. "You recognize the wounds as well, Niko." Ozpin said. I nodded. "Sadly I do recognize them." Kai looked at both of us and asked. "Ok, what are you not telling me?" I sighed. "Remember when I told you about the super soldier program and his they cut funding because we were too unpredictable. Well the figures of importance attending were General Ironwood, Weiss's Father, and Ozpin ; also the reason that funding was cut was due to an injury to one of the former council members. Isn't it amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe." Kai shuttered at the thought of what could have happened. "I've known what Niko is ever since then, and that's one of the reasons I asked him to attend Beacon." I thought crossed my mind, one that could explain why Cardin's name wasn't said on the news. "Did you send him inside the group?" Ozpin didn't answer, confirming the truth. "Did you send him?" I asked once more, getting angrier. Ozpin remained silent for a few moments longer, then finally said. "Yes."
