One week later

Niko's POV

It had been about a week after the mission was over and we were back to normal classes. But the flashback I had still bothered me, as if I knew the woman I had killed and I can't remember. Today team JNPR, RWBY, CRDL, and KNTE were scheduled for sparring, I hoped it would help get me to stop focusing on the memory. I walked to Professor Goodwitch's class room and took my seat in the back. Once everyone had taken their seats, Professor Goodwitch called out two names. "Ms. Rose you'll be sparring against Mr. Spire." Ruby and I made our way to the sparring arena, I had began to strategize the moment my name was called. "Ok. Ruby's semblance is her speed, so..." I thought. Pierce interrupted. "If you can get her to use it and you knock her off balance, there is a good chance you'll win." I smirked as Ruby and I faced each other from opposite sides of the arena. She unfolded Crescent Rose and stood ready. I took off my trench coat, it had a double use for me. One it made me look badass and two it is extremely heavy so I don't have to hold back in combat, I just let the weight do it for me. I threw my coat out the arena, and prepared to fight. Professor Goodwitch said. "Ready. Begin." Ruby charged directly at me, using her semblance to make her almost invisible. I just backtracked the rose petal trail she was leaving. I kicked a spot behind me where the petals were leading to and I felt my foot connect with a person; seeing Ruby sent flying into the wall. I walked over to her and held out my hand to help her up. She looked at me with confusion in her silver eyes..... Silver eyes. A memory came back to me full force, the woman I had killed a few years ago had similar facial features and a similar fighting style to Ruby. There's no denying it, I killed a relative of Ruby Rose.

I helped Ruby to her feet and returned to my seat. The sparring matches became a blur to me as I tried to figure out what to do. This is one of the times I'm jealous of my brothers and sisters, when they went through the biological splicing process, the scientists were able to remove different emotions from them; making it impossible to feel. The other eight can't feel guilt, sadness, or jealously. Yet I got the short end of the deal with emotions; I got to keep mine in order to appear normal, sadly I still did terrible deeds along with them. This almost destroyed my mental health, making me schizophrenic. Now that this is happening, I didn't know what to do. "Pierce. What should I do? If I tell Ruby, she'll try to kill me and then she'd know I can heal from any wound. If I don't tell her, I will have another mental breakdown so I have to tell someone." Pierce remained silent for a moment and then said. "Maybe if you told her and had a mental breakdown, she'd maybe understand; not forgive, but understand what happened." I knew he was right, I just had to tell her an let my calm demeanor go and let the built up emotions out. I pulled out my scroll and typed out a message. "Meet me at Emerald Forrest cliff." The bell rang and I sent the message. I walked out the door and headed over to the cliff. I waited at the edge and just sat there. Fifteen minutes later Ruby showed up, but she didn't come alone. Walking next to her was Ysng. "Shit." I thought to myself. "Hey Niko you told me to meet you here, right?" She asked. "Yes." I answered in a depressed tone. "What's wrong?" She asked. I turned to look at her, "I just have something to tell you and I'm not sure how you'd react." Ruby asked panicked. "Is Weiss pregnant?" I looked at her with a surprised look. "What the... Where did that come from? No it's not to do with Weiss, it has to deal with you. Well your mother to be exact." She asked me. "What do you have to say. I know my mom died on a mission to protect someone, so unless you have information that I don't know about it, I'll be leaving." I stayed silent and she turned to walk away. "......... There were three."

I said as she was walking away. She came back and asked. "What?" I said. "There were three of them, three attackers. They were wearing mercenary armor, one was faunas, the other two were human." Ruby and Yang stayed quiet while I talked. "The two humans went to look for the man your mother was protecting; the faunas kept our mother distracted. The others killed the target and your mother knocked down and stabbed the faunas just beneath the rib cage. Her blade got stuck and the two humans came back and shot your mother off of the faunas. She died of blood loss." Niko.. H-how do you know that?" Ruby was on the verge of tears. I lifted the left side of my shirt, stoping just at the bottom of my ribcage. Right there was a scar, about the size of a scythe blade. "I know this because I was the faunas."

Yang punched my squared in the jaw, and sent my sprawling. When I fell, Jackal became unholstered and was lying on the ground. Yang picked up my gun and held it to my temple, holding me by my collar. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't splatter your brains against the trees." I simply said. "That would be counter productive to why I told Ruby what I knew. I want the pain to end." Yang was confused. "What?" I sighed. "Yang, I've been in pain for almost eight years. I might not be able to feel physical pain, but mental and emotional pain...... I just want it to end." I began to shed a few tears. Yang dropped me and let Jackal fall to her side. "Ruby. What should we do?" Ruby didn't answer for a moment. "Just...... End it." Yang raised the gun to my head. I walked towards the edge of the cliff. I looked at the horizon and closed my eyes. The last thing I heard was a loud bang, then nothing.
