Niko's POV

Five spun up his Gatling gun and opened fire, shredding my flesh where his bullets hit. I dashed towards him and tackled him out the hole in the wall. The momentum we had and his weight carried us down a steep hill and into the forest below. I smashed back first into a tree on the way down; breaking a couple of vertebrae. I continued to roll limply down the hill, slowly coming to a stop and let my body heal. Soon my spine healed and I stood to fight Five. Five stood and removed his coat, reviling a high tech combat Exo suit. I shot at him and with the Exo suit, he moved a lot faster than normal. He dodged each of my bullets and provided me with an uppercut to the jaw. The blow sent me flying, but I recovered quickly. Five pulled out what looked like a detonator; clicking it and a large metal crate dropped from the sky. Once it landed it remained motionless for a few seconds, then the entire crate broke open and a mech was reviled. Twin triple barrel shoulder mounted miniguns, two quad rocket pods, and a single articulating railgun. Five climbed up into the mech and locked his sights on me. "Fucking hell." I said. He opened fire with the miniguns; peppering the ground around me with bullets as I dodged. I sprinted directly at the mech and slid underneath it; I climbed up the back of the mech and located an armored plate that protected the power supply, twin chambered dust fueled generators . I drew Jackal and Sphinx, unloading all twelve bullets into the armor plate as the mech thrashed about. My bullets damaged it enough for me to be able to get a good grip on the caved in armor plate and tore it off with all my strength. The mech managed to knock me off its back and onto the floor. Before I could get back up, the mech grabbed me and began to slam my body into the forest floor. Each time me body hit the ground my vision blurred and my I felt like I was loosing conciseness. A gunshot rang out and the mech began to malfunction. My body was dropped and I looked over at the hill and saw Kai firing Nightingale at the generators in the mechs back. I stood and ran over to Kai; he made his way down the hill and stood next to me. "Thanks for the save." I said to him. "No problem." Kai said, clearly proud of himself. I turned around when I heard the sound of glass breaking. Five had smashed the cockpit door and began to pull himself out. I reloaded my pistols, this time loading armor piercing rounds instead of my normal hollow point ammo. Five grabbed hold of one of the miniguns and shouted. "I'm not dying here! You are!"
I grabbed Kai and turned my back to Five, using my body as a shield. The bullets hit my back and caused blood and shredded flesh to be splattered across the forest floor. I had collapsed, my vision going dark.

Kai's POV
Niko grabbed me and the minigun had shredded his back, black blood pouring out of the wound by the gallon. When he collapsed I had done my best to drag him behind a boulder. "Kai." He said weakly. "Don't talk. Save your strength." I shot four more shots at the attacker that Niko referred to as Five. "Kai.." Niko said again. He was trying to reach out to me, so I scooted closer and said. "What is it? What do you need to tell me?" I asked. He whispered to me. "Я сожалею об этом." I was confused about what he had said. It sounded more like a foreign language than him just blabbering from blood loss. He took off his right glove and a tattoo of a demonic seal on his palm began to glow blood red. He slammed his palm into my chest, the pain I experienced was almost like a piece of red hot metal was pressed against my flesh. I wanted to scream but I couldn't ,my vision went red and my forearms began to hurt like someone was pulling a knife through my skin from the inside. Blades made of bone began to pierce through the flesh on the top of my arms; about ten inches from my wrists. The blades themselves were about two and a half feet long and coated in a strange black substance.

The pain faded and I looked down at my self and saw that there was armor plating on my chest, shins, and my upper arms; the armor was made of a bone like material. I felt empowered, almost like my strength had no limits. Niko stood up; his wounds closed and he spoke in that weird language again, but this time I could understand him. "Теперь мой друг , позволяет закончить эту foght." Now my friend, let's finish this fight. I nodded and turned to face Five. Two snakelike tendrils sprouted from Niko's back and gnashed at the air. Five spun up the minigun, but before he could fire it one of the tendrils grabbed the barrels and the second was brought down in the gun; effectively rendering it useless. Five panicked and backed up into the mech, I saw him trying to reach for a stock less pump action shotgun. One of Niko's tendrils grabbed Five around his wrist and dragged him face to face with him. All Niko said was. "Run away. Now." Five was released, but he didn't listen to Niko. He sprinted over to his shotgun and fired off two shots before I cut the gun in half with my new blades. I slashed at Five again; intended to cut is head off. He dodged my strikes and kicked me in the chest. Before I could react an airship with high power floodlights blinded Niko and I; allowing Five to escape. By the time I could see, both the airship and mech were gone, along with Five. I felt my adrenaline fading and my blades retracted back into my arms, as well as the armor on my body turning to dust. "Who the fuck was that?" Niko remained quiet for a few moments. "Niko, who was that?" I asked again. I was loosing my patience and I turned to walk back to the train. "Jason Spire." I turned back around. "His name is Jason Spire. He's the fifth out of nine mercenaries that were made in the Rapture Project. They were meant to become super soldiers for the armies in Atlas; the inspiration behind it was that The best way to fight Monsters was with monsters of our own, but were proven to be to....unorthodox. The project was cut and the test subjects were turned into mercenaries, a hired army for the highest bidder." I was genuinely shocked by this. Then a question crossed my mind. "Niko how do you know this?" He had tears in the corners of his eyes, this was the first real show of uncontrolled emotion from Niko. "Because I'm one of them. I'm a monster." He fell to his knees and was sobbing, the snake like tendrils disappeared. I tried to put my hand on his shoulder, but when my hand came into contact with his coat black sparks shot up. I tried again, ignoring the pain and helped Niko to his feet.

"I guess I'm a monster too." I said quietly.
