Laura Grace/LG/Gracie POV
I sit with my hands over my face. As Lizzie says, "FUCKING HELL! REALLY? How did you not say anything or better yet how has he not been here yet!"
"That's the part I don't understand." I say from behind my hands. "But it was a stronger pull and feeling then I ever got from Alpha Henry. I had to say I got an urgent call and ran saying apologies. And all he did was walk in the room. I mean his Dad was across the table and he literally just walked in the door and I lost it." I say all this with my head down.
Lizzie drops to the chair next to her. "You said nothing to me? I am your best friend? How have you done it this whole time knowing?" She pats me on the shoulder almost crying.
I turn to look at her, "I worked." I told her with straight face trying not to show weakness. Using the same power, I use when negotiating deals. "I am sorry." I say softly.
"But wait, I though he came out and said both his mates were dead?" Sarah said looking confused.
Charlie sits down and looks at me, "When was your rejection?"
"It will be a year ago next Saturday." I say looking at Lizzie.
Charlie turns and looks at us, "Wait you mean to tell me, first you both were rejected on the same day and second it was Lizzie's Birthday!"
Lizzie and I both nod.
"That explains a lot!" Sarah says looking at us still standing with her palms on the table.
While Charlie now falls to a chair. She looks over at me. "Did you have the pain in your chest for days? The emptiness that felt like it was going to devour you?"
I look at Charlie shocked, "No, why? Was I supposed to? I mean Lizzie passed out, but I thought it was just because I had Lizzie and I started working on Lost Souls."
Charlie stares blankly at me. "Well about a year ago I was at the palace talking to the counsel when the then prince collapsed on the training grounds. They said it was much like when his first mate died, he could have been feeling your pain?"
"That's insane!" I look at her like she grew another head.
"Wait, hear me out. You said it was a stronger pull than you ever felt, right?"
"Yeah, but..." I get stopped by her.
"Show me your right shoulder!" She says calmly.
Now I know she has lost her mind. "How do you know about my shoulder?" I say with a lump in my throat holding everything in.
"Because about 8 months ago, right before I left there, again the prince was on the training grounds when he fell to the ground grabbing his shoulder. There was no blood and they ran all the tests they could find. They figured it was the witches going after him." Charlie says to me straight faced.
"We were renovating this place and I fell off the ladder onto a board." I showed her the scar by moving my strap on my Cami. Sarah drops to the chair next to her wide eyed.
Lizzie just stops and stares at me, "What are you going to do?"
I look at her and say straight faced, "Looks like we are both up Shit creek!"
We rolled up the plans to the house and decided to call a pack meeting at breakfast for those that lived in the house. The rest we would send out an e-mail of work assignments and let them know about the Birthday Gala the following Saturday for Lizzie and to honor the King.
As I am about to walk in my room Lizzie stops me. "Hey, you know you're not alone right? I mean you are the one with plans and the one to sit back and let me have the glory, but I am here with and for you! You are my Soul! We will always have each other." Lizzie looks at me with tears in her eyes.
"I know, but I was scared. It was just 3 months after Alpha Henry. I thought it was crazy. And now he thinks I am dead. So, I am petrified of what he is going to say when he figures it out." I say as a tear slips from my eye.
"Oh, Gracie. I think you shouldn't worry. No matter what we have your back." Lizzie says as she hugs me. I hold her tight and let the tears flow for the first time in 9 months.
