Laura Grace/LG/Chief
Walking down the stairs knowing I can hear the voices coming from the sitting room. Max requested a family dinner, thus his father, Aunt Lilly, Charlie, Travis, and then my family, with Lizzie and Kyle of course. Dixon and Emi will be the new members of this chaos tonight and just the thought of Dixon at this table is making me laugh to myself. Max stops me on the second to last step and looks at me questioning.
"What is so funny?" His voice is stern, I can tell he feels left out of the thoughts I have in my head.
"Well, last time I was at an event with Dixon and we had this many people at a table he was either rolling his eyes at everyone or completely annoyed from the questions people ask him. He is private and he doesn't feel the need to talk about the past. You need to know, now that it is all out, he probably won't ever talk about it again. He is more of a, its done and over with so let's focus on the future, kinda person." I tell Max factually as he nods in acceptance. "He is going to hate dinner because, you know people are going to ask him questions, well not my family as much, they know Dixon." At that Max looked surprised.
"I knew your parents knew of Dixon and that your brother had met him, but they actually know him well?" He asked me still showing some surprise on his face.
"Well, yeah. My Dad may not have known how much I am worth, but I didn't hide who I did business with. He knew and met Dixon. My whole family came to dinner with Lance and his family to celebrate the beginning of the Hotel being built in Star City next to our Packs. Lance's pack made a ton on construction, I made it on design, and we created more jobs." I said proudly as he nodded.
"I feel like such an idiot when it comes to not reading those files and assuming." Max says as he takes my hand again and leads me down the rest of the stairs. As we are about to walk in, I stop him.
"Max, you probably would not have found anything in those files to let you know about Dixon." I know he knows Dixon changed his files once, but he didn't know we would keep track of his files on us and others. I look at him as he is furrowing his brows questioning me. "We. Dixon, Sarah, and I, kept tabs on the files you have on us. We would change them or push info to the back. Not your hard copies, just the database." I want to be as honest about Dixon from this point on and he needs to know everything. "We, did it for his safety from the other Alpha's and mine. We knew our connection would cause other Alpha's to come after me. That is why we buried our connection to each other, but the photo on his Florida website gives everything away and we decided we are protected enough to let everyone know. I have or had Sarah and he has his men." I tell Max as he shakes his head.
"You mean to tell me that Dixon's 5 men equal Sarah?" He says shaking his head and rolling his eyes.
"Well yes, we created the team, but then Sarah was contacted by Flint. When Flint became part of his team, we knew we were fine." I said shaking my head and opening the door to the room where everyone was waiting on us for dinner and having cocktails. I instantly see Emi with Lizzie and Charlie and walk to them. As I sit on the couch next to Emi, "Hi, ladies." Max walks me over to the couch and as I take a seat, he leans down and kisses my forehead, then walks over to where Dixon is talking to Kyle and Travis.
"It must be a Redding thing." Emi says. "Dixon does it all the time, at first I felt like a child, but now I kinda like it and when he doesn't do it, I get upset." She says as she looks over at Dixon and I see the blush creep across her face. Dixon looks over and winks at her causing her blush to deepen.
"How is that going?" I ask her quietly as Charlie and Lizzie lean forward to hear her answer.
Emi continues to blush, "he's perfect. He doesn't pressure me; he says all he wants is me happy and me by his side." Emi is looking at the lemonade she is holding in her hands shrugging her shoulders. "I mean I want more; I don't know how to get him to mark me." She says in a whisper.
