Laura Grace/LG/Gracie/Chief
Max neglected to inform me that today is very different than yesterday. Today everyone will file into the "Throne Room." First, who still has a damn "Throne Room." Second, how big is this place really? Tanner, Sarah, Max and I are in the sitting area that is behind the actual room. There are formal doors that open and lead to the "Thrones" apparently. I find the whole thing crazy, I mean what decade are we in? I'm sitting on a small red chesterfield loveseat in a room that has white walls and family photos all over the room. There are couches and loveseats around the room, we are waiting for the rest of the family to get here so we can all be presented. I feel more like I am going to be on display than presented.
"Chief!" Tanner says looking at me.
"What?" I snap at him.
"You are not on display, it's one day a year this happens." Tanner says as he walks over and hands me a glass of something.
"Once a year?" I ask him and he nods. "These should have been in the terms and conditions of the agreement. Actually, I never really saw the agreement and didn't sign it so..." I smirk as I stand up.
"Oh no, no, no. You were invited last year to the Alpha Meeting and I remember the decline we got back. Not to mention my own coronation 6 months ago you declined as well. You should know being the Beta you got all the invites with the Alpha. Now, I know why Liz declined, but you sent back messages saying there was a 'situation at the pack' that made it impossible for you to come." Max says from across the room next to his father with his arms crossed. "You knew 6 months ago you were my Mate and declined, but the first Alpha meeting you could have came to you declined saying 'the pack was too vulnerable' for you to come. We let the first one slide, I let the second one because I..." He stops his speech because we both know what he thought, we were just a pack of sluts and he was glad we weren't there. He lowered his head rubbing his forehead.
"Yeah, well I was busy 6 months ago in Florida." I said with a smirk.
"You mean you didn't come because of a vacation?" Max was slightly irritated.
"No, I was there on business." I said defensively.
"Really? What was that one? An orange guy?" Max says walking toward me with his arms folded.
"No!" Now I am more than slightly pissed, I put the drink on the table next to me and am standing with my hands on my hips.
"Oh, wait I remember that trip!" Sarah says. "The Lone Wolf." She says smiling. I give her a glare.
I soften my eyes and look back at Max. "Look it doesn't matter now, we are here together, and all is well. I just didn't get the memo on how this works. You know I am oblivious to all this." I say waving my hand around. "I will fully admit that yes I did know you were my Mate when we should have come for the coronation, but Lizzie wasn't ready to see Kyle and I had a business matter in Florida." I keep my tone even and as if it didn't matter giving a shrug.
"I am going to let it all slide, because we are past it, but I want to hear about the 'Lone Wolf" later." Max says still giving me a look that tells me he isn't happy as he leans forward and kisses my forehead.
"It was no big deal, just a business partner." I said trying to keep it as if was nothing. Sarah chokes on her drink and lets out a little laugh. I glare at her again.
"Sorry, wrong pipe." She says still coughing she looks at me and tries to hold her smile back.
"Yeah, sure." Max looks at me. "This isn't over." I just roll my eyes as he walks back to his father to talk finish there conversation about the order of the 'Alpha Parade' as I call it.
