I'll Be There For You [ Book 1 ]

Chapter 15

The sounds of blaster fire rang out around them as Cody ran through the battlefield, blasting down droids alongside his men, his brothers. Obi Wan was back a bit further, taking a moment to survey the battle around them to find a new strategy. "General a new wave's incoming!" Waxer shouted from nearby, gesturing to the new wave as droids came in.

"Get in formation." Cody commanded as his men moved into position. The battle had already been on for hours now, the men were drained of energy but reinforcements were impossible for them to get.

"You heard the commander!" Boil shouted above the sounds of the blaster fire, helping get the men into position. The 212th got into position, moving to attack the new wave of enemies coming towards them. Obi Wan made to move to the front lines to be with Cody when the sounds of more droids came from behind.

"There's more in the back!" A clone shouted as curses fell from the mouths of the legion.

"Split! Half cover the back half cover the front!" Cody ordered as half of the legion turned to cover the new army coming from the back. Obi Wan gripped his lightsaber tighter as he watched them approach. He resolved to fighting the group in the back while Cody handled the front. As the droids approached the clones and jedi lead the assault against them.

Obi Wan twirled his saber around as he cut down droid after droid when he heard a sudden shout out.

"Commander!" Obi Wan felt his heart freeze in his chest as he turned around trying to see through the crowd of clones and droids, then he saw him lying on the ground. The breath left him as he ran towards him, force pushing droids out of his way, the clones knowing better and moving away from him. He knelt to the ground as he pulled his commander close.

"Cody?!" He yelled in a panic. The chestplate of Cody's armor held a blaster hole, still smoking. "Cody my love please!" He removed his helmet to find and watched his eyes slowly flick to look at his face. Blood ran from the corner of the clones lips. "Cody, please stay with me." Obi Wan begged. Cody raised a hand and shakily placed it on Obi Wan's cheek, silently wiping away the tears that the jedi hadn't noticed had begun to fall. Cody closed his eyes as his hand started to fall from his lovers face. "Cody?! Cody no!" He shook him, sobbing as the love of his life died in his arms.

"Cody!" Obi Wan gasped, sitting upright in bed, tears streaming down his face. He looked around in a panic, slowly noticing he was sitting in his bed. He looked beside him and chocked out a sob of relief as he saw Cody sleeping beside him.

"It's too early." Cody mumbled quietly, curling closer against the jedi. Obi Wan relaxed as he laid back down and pulled him close, burring his nose into his hair.

"I love you Cody, don't ever die on me." Obi Wan mumbled against his head, but the clone was already back asleep. Obi Wan held him close as he calmed back down, slowly falling back asleep as he held his love close.
