JANESSA POV

The next morning, Cris was still sleeping lightly when I woke up. I kissed his forehead and walked to my room while covering myself with the sheets.

Walking down, I decided to make a simple breakfast for Cris.

''Hey baby'', David greeted me as he entered the hall.

Suddenly Cris who appears nowhere; wrapped his arm possessively around my waist as he was glaring at David.

''Oucch... you stole my wife'', David fakes a sad tone. ''Janessa darling, don't leave me please'', he pleaded. Exasperatedly, I knocked his head using the spoon I was holding.

''what you told him uh?'', I shake my head.

''hahaha... I was just playing with him'', David rubbed his head.

Cris looked puzzled with David's action.

''Ok Janessa. I think he wants to hear it from you. I take leave first'', David winked. I nodded. ''And..'', he faces Cris. ''take good care of her'', he said seriously.

''You no need to worry about it. She's mine and my life'', Cris replied firmly. David smile as he walks out of the kitchen.

''What is happening around?'', Cris asked me.

I sighed.

''He's gay'', I told him, and Cris looked shocked at my answer.

''you married to him knowing it?'', he asked me, and I nodded.

''He told me about his sexuality when he and his family came to ask in hand for me. His mother doesn't know about it and he doesn't want to hurt her. That's why he tells the truth to me. And asked me to reject his proposal. He has already the love of his life'', I explained.

''Why the heck you agreed to marry him still?'', Cris looked dissatisfied. ''why you want to spoil your life Janessa?'', he sounded upset.

''Because... I loved you so much'', I said sadly. ''although I didn't admit that time, before I knew I fall deeply for you and I couldn't be able to forget you'', I said while dropping my tears. ''Rather than I marry someone else without love, I decided to marry David. He becomes my best friend'', I looked up to him.

''I'm sorry Cris. I didn't intend to betray you'', I said guiltily. ''I didn't intend to hurt you that time. I thought it was best for everyone'', I sobbed.

Cris embraced me in his arms. ''It was my fault, Janessa. I was the one who let you go. I made your life suffered'', he said sadly.

Leaning back, I gaze at him. ''Marlene came to talk with me while I was debating whether I should be with you or not. She said you came for my marriage and devastated to see it. I... I thought you don't love me Cris... that time...I thought what you had was the only infatuation. I'm not special girl''

''Hey look'', he cups my cheeks. ''you are special to me. I admit that I loved Maya truly but it doesn't mean that after she came, I disregard you. The truth is, I couldn't face you because I thought you will be sad if you knew about Maya. She was dying Janessa. And I couldn't say NO to her. At the same time, I couldn't betray you. I'm so in love with you and guess what... I only realize about it when you leave me'', he expressed his feelings.

''So, I'm asking this for you'', he pulled out a small box from his pocket. ''Will you marry me, my love'', he knelt his leg. I was too emotional seeing his action. I didn't expect this. No one ever treated me like how he treats me.

''I do Cris'', I said while dropping my happy tears. He slid the ring in my finger and quickly uplifted me while twirling around.

''Ok now we need to apply for a divorce'', he stated. ''so that I can marry you and own you'', he said lovingly.

''Well, there's no need to apply for divorce'', I curl my arms around him. He looked puzzled. ''Actually, after one year of our marriage, David and I applied for divorce and he married the guy he loved. No one knows about this'', I told him.

''Oh my God, I can't wait to marry you'', he shouted happily, and I chuckle seeing his expression.

Cris becomes my pillar of support. He stays by my side when I decided to tell the truth to my mother. My sisters acknowledge the story but not my mother. She looked devastated hearing about me and David but  Cris assured her that he will take good care of me. Mom gives her blessing to our relationship. Whereas Lewis started to call Cris 'daddy'.

Everything is settled now. I feel like a huge burden released from my heart.
