JANESSA POV

My friends started to go to lunch at Cris's restaurant almost every day, but I always reject them. I don't want to get any mixed feelings by going there.

After work, when I was driving back, my car broke down in middle. Shit, I hit my head on the steering. I totally forget to bring my car for service.

Sighing I get down from my car. When I was about to book Grab car, I was startled when someone horns the car.

''What happened?'', Cris asked me from inside of his car.

Why the hell I meet him now?

''Huh... I don't know... it broke down'', I stated as I click to book a Grab.

''Get in'', he invited me to help me.

''It's ok... I booked a Grab car already'', I replied.

He was giving me a deadly stare since I rejected his offer. ''Are you stupid Janessa? It's already past midnight and you want to take some stranger's car?'', he asked me.

Before I answer him, I saw the Grab driver arrived at my place. Without saying anything to him, I entered the driver's car. Cris was following me from behind when I saw his car behind this car.

Why he's doing this? Damn...

After paying the fare money to the driver, I get down from the car. When I was walking towards my apartment, someone grabs my wrist and turn me back. I saw Cris's furious face.

''What's wrong with you uh? I just wanted to help you and you are treating me like some piece of shit'', he said angrily.

I didn't say anything but stare at him equally. What did he know about me? Nothing. Last time he always came for me. He made me rely on him but no... not again. I won't do the same mistake.

''mommy'', I saw my son running towards me. Cris lets my wrist and kneeling; I hug my son in my arms.

''Hey baby, you didn't sleep yet?'', I ask him.

''no mommy... I miss you'', his words flutter my heart.

''Aww... I miss you too'', I kiss his forehead.

''Uncle... you are here too!'', he jumped excitedly seeing Cris. ''did you bring your dogs?'', he asked while seeing around Cris.

''Ok buddy... you need to sleep now'', saying that, I carried him in my arms. Without saying anything to him, I walk inside the building.

During the weekend, I went to Cris's house as I promised; bringing my Lewis. He was so excited about meeting Choky and Spotty.

''Hey buddy'', Cris high five with Lewis. I didn't turn to see Cris since I was bathing Choky. He helped me as we both didn't talk anything to each other. Suddenly Choky pushed me and I fall on Cris. In no time, I saw Cris under me and we both were looking at each other. He smirked seeing my flushed face. Quickly, I pulled away from him and pretended that nothing happens just now.

''Oh My God, Janessa?'', someone shouted. When I see, I saw Marlene running towards me and hugged me tightly. ''I miss you so much'', she cried.

''Me too Mar... you still look stunning'', I chuckle seeing her expression.

''And guess what... I'm pregnant'', she pointed her bump.

''w...wow...'', I turn to see Cris who puts a disgusted face.

''Nahh.. don't mind him. Nick and Cris don't want to give blessing to my boyfriend since he's my bodyguard turned lover. So I forced him to impregnated me'', she laughed evilly.

''w...whoa...'', I was shocked by her statement but laughed after. Typical Marlene. ''Anyway congratulations. I'm happy for you'', I stated.

''Thank you... will you be my bridesmaid?'', she quickly asked me.

''Sure'', I smile. ''by the way, let me introduce you. He's my son, Lewis'', I carried my son in my arms.

Marlene gives a shocking expression but recovered quickly.

''w...wahh.... That's great. I'm happy for you'', she smiles.

Cris walks out shortly without telling us. Marlene came beside me when I was making drinks for everyone after the tiring job.

''So... everything going well?'', she asked me curiously.

''Of course. Why?'', I raised my brow seeing her reaction.

''No.... I was just asking'', she told me.

''Where's Maya anyway? He's alone here or temporarily staying here for his restaurant?'', I asked.

''hmmm she passes away four years back'', her words shocked me.

''what? I thought she was recovering''

''We also hoped so... but... she couldn't make it. Day by day it started to spread her body and she couldn't make it'', she said sadly.

I didn't say anything since I'm still in a shocking state.

Maya, it was nice meeting you and I hope you rest in peace there...

''Cris doesn't allow anyone to enter his life, you know'', Marlene's words make me turn to see her. ''but... he didn't change back to his old life as well... he started to work well and now he's here'', she smiles proudly.

''I'm happy for him though. Don't worry. I'm sure he will meet the love of his life sooner or later'', I told her.
