Chapter 18

"You never replied to my text" Lexi pouts as I sit next to her in Science.

"Oh crap! I'm sorry Ruby and I were baking a cake"

"Sounds about right" She chuckles.

"Yeah"

"So can you come over?"

"Yeah but is it ok if I come over tomorrow after school. I just want to spend more time with Nat and Ruby, plus someone else but I'll tell you at yours" I say lowering my voice at the end of the sentence.

"Sure, we really need to find code names for these people"

"Yes!" I laugh "We will do it at yours plus I have major news to tell you, your going to be so excited"

"Can't wait and yeah that should be fine" She smiles.

"Cool" I smile packing my books just before the bell went.

"But let's not get side tracked we need to study for our test"

"Damn I thought you forgot about that" I mutter playfully and Lexi smirks.

As the bell sounded students got up in a massive wave rushing for the door, eager to get to lunch.

"Someone looks happy" Lexi remarks as Ethan joins us on our way to lunch.

"Yes! We won our game last night"

"Oh wow good job"

"Thanks and that's not even the best part, Coach said he wanted to see the team at lunch for a surprise"

"You are talking about Coach Jansen right?"

"Yeah! That's why I am so excited"

"Am I missing something?" I ask curious to know why they were so shocked to find out they were to getting a surprise from their coach . . .

"Coach Jansen is pretty strict he always focuses on winning and the punishment for loosing is pretty tough" Lexi explains.

"He used to be a champion football player 'back in the day' I don't think anyone has seen him crack a smile since we won last night" Ethan explains.

"Wow"

"Yeah well I gotta go see ya guys later"

"See ya" Lexi and I chime as we part through separate hallways.

I follow Lexi throughout the school walking side by side until we reach our group sitting on the grassy lawn.

She had been chatting my ears off about code names for Cody. They were so weird and the best part was when I laughed Lexi did too. It made me feel less mean.

"What about fisheroo"

"Fisheroo?" I echo on the verge of laughing again.

"Yeah a code name for you know who" She nudges me in the ribs and I go a slight shade of pink.

"Your serious?"

"Yeah! Fish because of how he swims and surfs and the roo bit comes from a kangaroo because Australia is his home"

"Hmm not bad" I smile.

"I know I am pretty good arn't I?" She giggles standing up tall and proud.

"Hey I said not bad not ok yeah I'll use that"

"Oh come on! We all know you thought it was awesome" Lexi Smiles taking a seat in between Kailee and I.

"Thought what was awesome?" Kailee asks with a questioning glance.
