A/N: Questions?
Alex's POV - Sunday, February 14, 2021, 7:42 pm
John and I sat across from each other at the table, smiling and holding hands. He looked absolutely amazing.
Way too good-looking for you.
Can I not just have a nice evening for once?
You don't deserve one.
Fuck you.
Fuck you too.
John grinned at me. "Whatcha thinkin' about?"
"How amazing you look tonight," I said, the half-truth slipping off my tongue easily.
He blushed. "You look beautiful, too."
Just then, our food came out, a steak for John and chicken for me. I smiled at him. "Thank you for tonight."
"No need to thank me, baby."
I laughed. "You got James to watch Phil for the evening. That takes skill, considering how stubborn he is."
"He who? James or Philip?"
"Um... yes."
John chuckled, then took a bite of his food. "I love you."
I smiled. "I love you, too."

John's POV - Sunday, February 14, 2021, 8:52 pm
By the time we returned to the apartment, Philip was fast asleep, and James was sitting at his desk, typing on his computer. He glanced up at us as we entered.
"How was your date?"
"Good," Alex replied, shifting the bouquet of roses and stuffed lion I had gotten him in his arms. "John almost fell in the river."
"And how the hell did he manage that?"
I blushed. "The banks were steep! I was more focused on Lexi not falling in!"
James cocked an eyebrow at us. "Lexi?"
Alex grinned. "It's his nickname for me."
"I see."
"Was Phil any trouble?" I asked.
"Nah. He doesn't seem to like the fact that my hair isn't as long as yours or Alex's, though. He kept getting upset when he would reach for it but it wasn't there."
I laughed. "He does the same thing with a few of our friends. Don't take it personally."
He grinned. "I wasn't planning on it."
Alex and James were the sort of siblings that looked almost identical, even though they were five years apart. They did have their differences - Alex had longer hair and darker eyes, and James looked older and didn't have Alex's signature dark purple bags under his eyes - but there was no denying that they were brothers. Hell, they both dressed similarly, too, in long sleeves and jeans. But, in my not-so-humble opinion, Alex was definitely the cuter one.
James shut his laptop and rubbed his eyes. "I'm going to go to bed now. See you two in the morning."
"Night, Jamie," Alex said.
"Night, lion."
