IVY

The next day as I was about to leave, my mom came and said "come back early, your aunt. uncle and cousins will be here". I groaned but I knew that I had to attend so I nodded. Maria was waiting for me outside. I waved at her and sat inside the car.

I had called Adam earlier to tell him that I would be with Maria, he said that he would come to pick me up afterwards. "So what are the plans for today" I asked, looking at her. She smiled and said "Shopping, eating and having a photoshoot".

I looked at her with surprise "What photoshoot". "My friend wanted a model and you were the perfect match" she replied. "Don't worry, all the pictures will be no face theme" she assured me. I nodded at her.

We went to the nearby mall and shopped a lot. "I look pretty good in these" Maria said while trying the fourth pair of heels. "Maria every single heel you tried are white or peach" I replied. I stood up and went to a shelf and picked a pair of black heels. "Now this is what I was talking about" I said while looking at the heels.

The part-timer gave me the heels in number 6 and Maria tried them on "now that's something" I complimented. We went and bought those heels for her a pair of boots for me. Then we went to another shop to buy a party dress.

"No, I ain't gonna buy this" Maria shouted at me. She was wearing a sexy dress "you always wear something formal or covered, show those curves girl" I said excitedly, she looked hot in that dress. Finally I won the argument and we bought that dress.

We had our lunch in the mall only, it was late in evening when we were finally done. "Now that was a lot of shopping" Maria exclaimed. I looked at her, she was like a child.

Adam was waiting for me at the exit. I hugged Maria goodbye and then went to Adam. I sat inside and kissed him on the lips, "Hello beautiful" he greeted me. I smiled back at him. "So, want to have dinner?" he asked.

I looked at him sadly, I told him all about me finding my brother at home and about the family dinner. "Oh Ivy, you should have told me earlier" he said sadly. "There is nothing I can do. its not like I can crash your family dinner".

I was not interested in this family dinner but I knew if I did not show up or was late my parents would be mad. Adam dropped me off, I took a deep breath before entering. My cousins cars were parked outside my house.

I entered my home with shopping bags in my hands. I found all the elders sitting in the living room talking. I greeted them, "shopping with friends?" asked my older aunt, I nodded.

I looked at my mom and said "Mom I am going to go upstairs to keep these bags" she nodded in response. When I was about to enter my room I heard my cousin Ivan calling for me, I looked back. They all were in my brother room which was just opposite to mine. His door was open so they were able to see me. "Come here we haven't met from a long time" he said.

I entered my room and kept the shopping bags down. I went in my bathroom changed and got fresh. Then I went to my brother's room to meet my cousins. I found four of my cousins sitting there, Ivan, Victor, Sam, Joseph and my brother Vernon. I was the youngest there.

I was in no mood to sit with them but I knew I had to so I just sat on a nearby chair. "Long time no see how was your vacation?" asked my cousin Victor. "It was great" I replied with a smile.

"You went with, what was his name again?" he asked. I knew it, he would not shut up after asking a single question. "Adam" joined my brother. I just nodded trying my best to keep that smile.

"So you are best friends right?" he asked again. "Yes" I replied. They all started laughing, 'this is the very reason why I hate family nights' I thought. I just kept on smiling.

"Stop it guys, how much are you gonna tease her" said my elder sister. I knew that my sister is much better than other but she is also with them at times. I wish Amy was here. I was so angry. trying my best not to snap at them.

Just then my mother called us to have dinner. There was a whole feast in front of me. I wanted to eat a lot but I could not, I felt like I was already full so I ate a bit and then sat in the living room.

I wanted to go back to my room but I knew that parents would feel better if I sat for few more minutes, my mom and aunt cleaned the dishes and cleaned the table and then came back to join.

Everyone was praising about how my sister and brother have accomplished till now. I knew that they were not intending to make me feel down but they did. I just wanted to get out of here. Just then my phone rang it was Adam.

But I was not the only one who saw who was calling, my brother Victor saw it and in no time everyone was laughing "pick it up Adam is calling" he said stressing on the word Adam. Again everyone burst into laughter.

I told my mom that I am going to my room and she nodded. I picked up the call to hear his soothing voice on the other end "Hey" he said. I was about to cry "Hey" I said slowly. "Hey baby you ok?" he asked "Yes" I replied. I told him all about what happened and he was not very happy. But both of us knew that there is nothing he would do. I ended the call, it was around midnight and all of my relatives were leaving.

I heard a knock on my door, I did not answer. My cousins entered my room, I pretended that I was sleeping. "Oh, she is sleeping" said one of them, after that they left. I sighed in relief. I was happy that I controlled my temper today. After that I slept in no time.
