/ TW: Drinking, Yelling, Panic Attack /

I looked up at the sky, it was dark out. I couldn't hear any noise so I assumed that my parents had passed out on the couch. I rested my head in my arms appreciating the silence that rarely came around. It was usually my parents drunkenly arguing over some stupid thing like not doing the dishes. I stroked my fingers through my hair. I heard my stomach growl, I haven't eaten very much throughout the day. The only thing I had was a banana. I sighed and slid down the wall to sit closer to the ground.

I looked at the phone that was sitting on the desk, next to the window slightly above me. I reached up and grabbed it. I had a few notifications from Twitter and decided to look through them.

------------

Why are you so annoying? Like seriously, learn to shut up.

------------

I wondered how many people really thought that way. Am I really that annoying? I get comments and DM's saying that a lot. I put the phone down on the floor and pushed my head into my knees. I felt the sadness creep up into me once again. Why did I think it was a good idea to read those? I'm such an idiot. Such a FUCKING IDIOT. I breathed out a shaky breath and blinked my eyes a couple of times.

I looked down at my phone only to realize I had accidentally opened discord and now Wilbur was calling me. I hesitant, then I answer the call and made sure to whisper not to wake up my parents down below me.

"Hey, Wilbur..." I whisper, "C-could you please whisper?"

"Er, yeah sure, why?" He whispered back.

"U-um..." I desperately tried to think of another reason why other than my parents walking up.

"Tommy why is your voice shaky, what's going on? Why are you up this late?" He said in a soft tone.

I was about to say something but heard the sound of a glass breaking, and it sounded like it came from downstairs. I hoped Wilbur didn't hear it.

"Tommy, what was that? Did you knock a glass over or something? Are you alright?" Wilbur said after a few moments of silence.

I could hear one of my parents walking up the stairs so I quickly got up and rushed to lock the door. I looked back down at the ground to see the glow of my phone against the pitch-black room and walked back over to it.

"Shh," I told Wilbur and he didn't say anything else.

I sat up against the wall again covering my mouth so I wouldn't make a sound.

"Open the door, you stupid child!" I heard my father shout through the door. "I know you're in there and you're gonna get a beating if you don't open this door right now. Also, your mother and I are going on another stupid business trip in the morning."

I didn't budge from the place I was sitting but I did start to feel warm tears fall down my face and started crying. I knew that as long as I stayed in here they wouldn't hurt me.

I remembered the last time I was caught crying. Father slapped me across the face and pushed me into my room. I started to sob as I remembered the looks I got from them even weeks after it happened.

Father started yelling again. I tried to think about different positive things to make myself stop crying but nothing I thought about worked.

Even though there was just father yelling at me, it felt like one million voices. I remembered all the past arguments and slaps I would get from them. I started hyperventilating and curled up into a ball.

Then I noticed that I couldn't hear my father anymore, but I could hear Wilbur.

"W-Wil?" I asked shakily.

"I'm right here Tommy," he said calmly, "now I need you to listen to me, okay?"

"Okay..." I said trying to stop hyperventilating.

"Breath in... and breath out." He said quietly.

We both eventually got our breathing to match. Then I realized that he probably heard everything that had just occurred.

"Tommy... On a scale of 1-5, how often does this happen?" He said softly.

I thought about it for a second, "4..."

Wilbur went quiet.

"Tommy, would you like to stay at my house for a bit?" He asked worriedly.

"Y-yeah..." I responded.

"Okay."

/ Time Skip: Next Morning /

I had packed a bag of clothes and a laptop for when I'd get bored. I walked downstairs and noticed that there was a note on the table and it looked to be written by my mother.

Hey Toms, Your father and I are going on a business trip for about a week. We'll miss you and sorry we didn't tell you earlier, it was short notice.

I sighed. The night before, I sent Wilbur my address and he said it would take about an hour to drive. I looked through my bag to make sure I had everything. The laptop, the charger for the phone and laptop, and some clothes. I looked at the time; 08:04. Wil said he would be here around 9 so I scrolled through Twitter to see what everyone was up to. I tweeted out that I would take a week break from streaming.

I put my phone down and looked out the window, it was quite foggy outside which would make it harder for Wilbur to find the house. I kept looking down at my phone waiting for the text that Wilbur would send when he'd arrive.

It was 09:07 and I got a text from Wil: Okay, I've entered your neighbourourhood. (lol this sounds like some sort of spy mission uhhhh 😃)

A little later I heard a knock on my door. I jumped as it had startled me but I grabbed my stuff and went to the door. Wilbur was standing there waiting for me.

"Hey, Tommy! Sorry, it took a bit to find the house, it's quite foggy." He said as we started to head toward his car.

"Oh, no problem..." I mumbled "um... Thanks for driving all the way out here, you really didn't need to."

"You're welcome," He said and got in the car.
