Everything Was Fine Until...

The Beginning- Part II

1st July, 1990

Summer Vacation has come to an end much to the dismay of many children and the new session of the school is starting much to the dismay of the same children.

That 12 year old love sick girl is now starting her 1st year of high school, she is excited and happy, not because the new school year is starting and she is ready to meet her friends.

Because during the last days of the vacation, her Anshuman had confessed something to her, which made her heart flutter.

That fateful day, they were just their usual self, playing the new video game which Amrita aunty had brought for Anshu.

Even thinking about it, made her heart flutter and she knows her cheeks are probably red now by all the thinking.

They both had been playing the game together. The game was awesome, all they had to was to insert the tape, in the video player and Viola! And the game is on, then they just have to connect the console to the T.V.

Now after setting everything up, they started playing and she was as usual having loads of fun. Being beside Anshuman was something she liked. But not for Anshuman, he was getting irritated as he was losing. After a series of losses, in frustration Anshuman snatched the console and stomped to his room angry.

At this Amrita only rolled her saying, "Boys and their huge egos." Amrita shook her head and went to the kitchen, to prepare some snacks for them.

She then went to his room. To see, how angry he was. And if he was, then she'll try to make his mood better. Thinking this, she went to his room. Before she went in, she knocked softly on the door, when no response came she opened the door and saw him lying on his bed.

She took in his expression, he looked frustrated. She then started doing some tricks, which she hope would lift his mood up.

She did the sloppy magic trick, which she had seen on T.V. When that didn't work, she started doing mimicry of his favourite actor and then at last she started singing the song of an upcoming movie.

God help him because her voice was awful and after listening only two lines, his face broke into a smile and he started laughing.

And said, "Stop, please stop."

She was happy that his mood was better now and finally he had managed to crack a smile. After teasing her and fooling around a bit he said something that she would never forget, no matter what," You know, that I love you, I have many friends but you'll always be my best friend and sorry for behaving like an ass." Anshuman said with a big grin and engulfed her in a bear hug. And then went downstairs, after he heard his mother calling him to take the snacks upstairs, which she had made for them.

She was in shock after hearing this. She still cant believe her ears. She never thought that he'd say something like that. It took her by surprise.

His line was still playing like broken record in her head. She knew, whatever he said was said in way, you say to your sister or friend. She knows, but she was determined to change his feelings the other way.

She was making her way towards the gate of the school and when she heard, a very familiar voice shouting her name.

"Ashi!" Hearing her name, she turned around and pretended to scowl.

Anshuman came up to her quickly and draped his arm around her shoulder and asked, "Why the long face, Ashi?"

"How many times have I told you, not to say that name!" Flicking his arm around.

"But that is your name isn't it?"

"YES, but I don't like it. I am saying this the last time call me Kiara."

"Oh my God, again with this Kiara bullshit, what is wrong with Ashi? It suits you."

"No, it doesn't suit me and Kiara is a modern name."

"Ok, then I am also saying this the last time that, I'll call you only Ashi." He flicked her forehead and ran off to the class.

"ANSHU!!" She yelled after him, rubbing the spot on her head he just flicked. She was feeling a little giddy, that Anshuman is the only one who calls her by her real name. Though that was not her real name, but a nick name given by Anshuman, which was the short form of her real name.

After entering the class she noticed a few new students and one by one teacher introduced them. There was only one who stood out among all of them and that was a girl with brown hair Meira, her eyes were big, she had long eyelashes. To be honest, she had the prettiest eyes Anshuman had seen, though Aashi didn't want admit it, but it was true.

Her face had an innocent look, full plump lips, she had a good jawline and a small button nose.

When Meira came in the front of the class, Anshuman silently whispered to her, "She is pretty, right. "She only nodded at him, but in the inside she didn't like the way Anshuman noticed her.

Soon enough she got to know that Meira was quite approachable, she was a bit introverted. But she had already mingled herself with Kiara's group. She didn't have a problem with that, but the only thing irked her was the fact that Meira was getting very close to Anshuman.

I mean they are only fifteen for God's sake. She is a year older than all of her classmates. She knows, she is being a hypocrite as she is infatuated with her half- brother since she was eleven. She could see Anshuman, made efforts to just talk to her, the way he sat next to her in all classes and lend her all his notebooks so she could catch up on the pending work.

Soon she saw that they both had started hanging out together, Meira had started to open up to him. Some even started tagging them as, Future girl friend and boy friend.

This didn't go unnoticed by Kiara, she was getting irked by Meira and Anshuman's closeness. Whenever she saw them, she could feel dark thoughts enveloping her.

She felt like doing things which wouldn't look normal, but even thinking about those things, made her satisfied. Seeing Meira troubled made her feel satisfied, she didn't hate the feeling. Instead she had started loving it.
