The Unwanted Goddess

Day Out

I was in the cabin waiting for Luke to wake up. During that time I was making plans about the city and now I was just waiting for Apollo to respond back to my message. I stood up and decided to make breakfast for Luke, when I was done I went to his room. I saw that he was sleeping, but suddenly he started crying and whimpering in his sleep. I ran to his side and just stood there. I didn't know what I should do. I decided that I should wake him up. When I touched his shoulder he immediately got up. He turned around and started staring at me with a scared expression on his face.

"Hey, It's going to be okay Luke. I'm here. No one is going to hurt you." I knew he was scared he was in this place all by himself. I didn't come any closer because he was still new to me. 

I got up and sat on a chair near his bed, showing him that I wasn't going to get near him. 

"Are you hungry?" I asked.

 He looked at me confused and just nodded. I got up and started walking towards the kitchen, he was following slowly behind me. Once there he had a smile on his face. There was so much food on the table. I didn't know what he wanted so I just cooked random things. He made his way toward the blue pancakes. I smiled and sat in front of him. I could finally feel the bond that a mother has with a child. It is the same feeling I have when I talk about all the demigods.

"So how did you sleep, Luke?" I asked trying to get to know him more. 

He looked up from his food and smiled. "I slept great goddess, I haven't slept this great in a long time." 

Once he said this I got sad. Did those kids mistreat him so much that he was scared to fall asleep? I tried ignoring it and continued smiling.

"That's great Luke. So I was thinking that we spend one day together in the human world". I looked at him and smiled. But his face said the opposite. 

"You would be with me the whole time. I won't let anyone hurt you" I said reassuring him. His face beamed and he simply nodded. 

I got up and made my way to the room. I quickly changed so that I could look more normal in the human world. I was wearing a black shirt under a grey hoodie. I was also wearing blue pants and tennis shoes. I put my curly brown hair in a bun. After I was done I made my way to the kitchen again. Luke was no longer there instead he was watching tv on the couch. I made my way toward him and sat down next to him.

"Are you ready to go?" I asked him. He looked up at me and smiled. He nodded his head and got up from the couch.

"I'm ready, goddess". I looked at him and frowned. I don't expect him to call me mom but also not goddess.

"You know you can call me Calypso," I said looking at him. he smiled and just nodded. We left the cabin and started walking towards the exit when someone stopped me. 

I turned around and saw that it was Chiron, he must have wanted to talk to me. 

"I'll be right back Luke, Chiron wants me". I let go of his hand and made my way to Chiron.

Once there I could see that he has aged. he looked tired and stressed.

"Are you okay Chiron?"

"No goddess, I have a feeling the monsters are killing more and more demigods". I sighed. 

I knew that this was happening. I let the feeling of the demigods appear in my mind. I could feel all the sadness and pain that they feel. I looked up and said nothing for a while.  

"I'll ask Hephaestus If he could make me something for this. I don't want any more demigods to die."

"Ok goddess, that's all I wanted to tell you," he said before leaving. 

I went back to Luke and together we left the camp. I decided to take us to New York City so I could buy him new clothes and some toys. We landed in an alley somewhere near my apartment. Together we walked towards the busy streets. Luke looked scared, he wasn't used to being around so many people. I squeezed his hand to make sure that he was okay. After a while of walking, I decided we should go into a small clothing store. inside there was anything a child could want. There were jackets, shirts, and pants in any color and size. 

"Go look for something you want. The price doesn't matter, Luke". I started looking for things that might look good on him. I found this blue t-shirt when I saw him run towards me. I frowned and look at him.

"Are you ok Luke, is something wrong" I started looking around, then I saw a woman staring at him with this weird look at him. I gently grabbed his hand and walked towards the lady.

"Um, ma'am you are scaring my son." I stared at her intensity and she just walked out of the store. I looked down at Luke and smiled.

"See, no one is going to hurt you now that I'm here". We continued shopping and after thirty minutes I decided we had enough clothes. 

We walked out of the store and started heading towards a restaurant so we should eat something before going to camp. This was so much fun being about to talk to someone. It feels nice to have someone to talk to. Before Luke, I was always walking these streets alone. Now I don't have to be alone. I smiled and looked down at Luke. I could tell he was happy and having a good time. Just knowing that made me happy.

"So how was it, did you like it, Luke." He looked up at me and smiled, and just that smile made my day.

"Yeah it was great, we should do this more often," he said looking back at the sidewalk. 

Suddenly, I was roughly bumped into I looked up and saw that it was none other than Apollo. He was wearing some joggers and earbuds. He must have been out for a run. Once he noticed it was me he stopped in his tracks and walked back toward me. 

"If it isn't Calypso," he said looking down at me. I rolled my eyes and just continued staring at him. 

"Hello Apollo, Why are you in New York?" I asked. I looked at Luke making sure that he was okay. he simply nodded and I looked back up at Apollo.

"I was on a run if you couldn't tell." at that moment he noticed Luke. He kneeled down and smiled.

"Hello little guy, what are doing here and with a goddess at that?" He asked. 

"Leave him alone Apollo, he's my son," I told him. He quickly got up and gave me a serious face.

"How? Who is his father?" He asked looking at me so angry, it's like I killed his dog or something.

"I don't know really. He wasn't claimed by any god so I made him my kid. Just like that." I told him. He looked at me weirdly and just nodded. Finally getting it.

"Oh for a second there I thought you gave birth to him."

"I wish I did, but sadly no. I did not". I was about to leave when he suddenly stood next to us.

"Do you want to go eat something?" He asked the two of us.

"Yeah I'm super hungry mommy," Luke said looking up at me. I was beaming with joy. He just called me mommy. 

"Okay, what do you want to eat?" I asked. 

he smiled and said, "Hamburgers!"

"You heard him, Apollo, he wants Hamburgers," I said smiling at him.
